Issue resolved
This bra is too large in the band, and too small in the cups.
Original problem
I don't quite know why this bra fits so poorly, but it does. The main issue that I have with this fit is that it feels like it is too large. The first picture I have shows that I still have about one to two fingers of open space at the bottom of my cups that my breasts won't settle into. I have tried lifting the bottom of my underwires up further, so that my breasts will settle into the bra more but it does not seem to help the issue at all.
Is there anything that you ladies recommend? I went for a bra fitting and the specalist also recommended that I wear a 36 c/d, so I bought the Tutti Rouge Lillianna Bra in a 36d (I have a very broad back) and I am having the same fit issues (except the band is too large). If you would like, I can post photos of me wearing the Tutti Rouge bra.

helpfulWell, first of all, your measurements off the bat suggest a 34DD, not a 34C. The reason it feels too big is because the wires are too narrow and the cups are too small, so they can't lay like they would if they fit properly. The bra is plainly too small.
Liliana is a different beast. Its wires are very very broad (I tried one on today) and they landed an inch past my breast root, and on the bottom I had tons of empty space as well.
I think you could probably wear a lot of conventional bras in 34DD/32DDD. You just have to get into the right cup size first

Absolutely size up in the band for comfort if you need to! But, one this is for sure -- this 34C is too small for you. I am not sure what your natural shape is like, but it sounds like you need bras that jut further out right at the bottom, does that sound right?
-
Teremaailma you are incredible! Ok then, I always thought that my 34C's were much too small for me. Especially when I look to the side and I still see breast tissue by my armpit.
I don't exactly know what my natural shape is. I do know that my breasts are not full on top, if anything I think that they are quite shallow. To be honest I am confused about what you mean about bras that are further out right at the bottom (I do not think that I have seen anything like that lol).
If it would help, do you think that I should post pictures of myself wearing my Gossard Floral Print bra that is a soft cup and it is a 36c. That way you can get a better idea of my breast shape.

There is no room at the bottom of this cup for the bottom of your breast. That's why your breast cannot settle into it. Your boobs aren't small enough to be compressed into that tiny sliver of space at the bottom of the cup. They require more depth.
Btw a 36C has the same size cup as a 34D; a 36D has the same size cup as a 34DD.

Thank you for your assistance Wendybien. I just didn't think that I could fit well into the other sizes mentioned because I don't think that I have enough breast tissue to fill the cups. I am somewhat conflicted about what to do because even though my measurements suggest that I should wear a 32ddd or a 34dd, the 32ddd I tried was much too large in the cup. While the 34dd had the orange in a glass issue. Would you recommend that I look at 32 or 34 bands that are stretchy and that I look for cups with more depth for my breasts?

When she says that you need more room at the bottom of the cup, she means you must look for bras where you could fit more than a pinky finger between the bottom of the cup and your ribcage. Many rigid (contoured, molded, padded etc.) cup bras are extremely shallow in that part above the underwire, such that the base of your breast would have to be shaped like the thin end of a pie slice to get in there--naturally for most women this is not the case. So I think you are right to be looking at unpadded, seamed bras, which are not rigid and often allow more depth in the bottom and sides of the cup.
I would look for 34Ds and 34DDs in unpadded designs that have a comparatively generous amount of room near the center (the gore) of the bra. Both the bras you tried on seem to be cutting into your tissue on the inner quadrant of your breasts, suggesting you have more fullness there (cleavage area, basically) than their design allows. If you like that Gossard that you tried, you should definitely see if you can get a better fit in a 34D.
I don't think you need stretchy 34s, regular 34s will be just fine, most likely. Or 32 in brands like Freya that are known to have very very loose bands. In most cases I suspect 32 bands won't be as comfortable on you.

I think I am finally starting to understand all of the wonderful information the two of you have given me. I need to find bras that have more depth than the bras I currently wear. In addition I should try a 34dd or 34 d. For me it looks like bras without rigid cups will help ensure that my breasts will be encased into the bottom of the cup (as long as the bra is the correct cup size). I should definitely stay away from 36 bands, and I should go back to size 34 bands and maybe even give 32 bands a try if they are stretchy enough. I just remembered that I do have a 32 dd in a DKNY t-shirtbra and I have the exact same issues with fit that I have with the 34c, and 36c. I really apologize but I have another question to ask. I'm finding that sometimes it hurts for me to wear 36 bands. I remember reading on bra metamorphisis that bands hurting can be an indication that the cup size is too small. Is this so? Because I do live near a Macy's and it might be beneficial if I try 34dd or a few 32 bands. Once again thank you!

Honestly, I'd say to go with 32. I need regular 34 and can sometimes go down to 32, and your measurements are smaller than mine. The bra calculator on here doesn't work for me.

I get painful back spasms when I am in a too-large band as well, even if the cup fits well. I think it is because the band rides up when it is too loose, and this puts a strain on my upper back and shoulders, causing the muscles to seize up.
However it's also true that if your cup is much too small, then some of the band length is actually covering the breast, and the entire bra can feel too tight. So if you were wearing a 36 with a really too-small cup, that might also happen.

Ok then Wendybien, thank you for informing me of that fact. I had to take off my b. tempted by Wacoal Ciao Bella Long Line Bra in a size Large because it was starting to hurt my back, which is strange because the cups fit better than my Simply Be floral long line bra (which is unfortunate because the bra is beautiful).
I very rarely get back spasms which is nice because at one time doctors thought I had MS. So I seriously hope that you keep finding bras that fit you Wendy. And Wendy I have to say I was looking at some of the photos you posted of you wearing your bras, just because I wanted to see if our measurements were comparable since we both seem to have the back issues, and I have to say you have such a lovely hourglass figure!

Aww thanks dawnss ! Although I do admit to cropping my photos to be optimally flattering--it's very good for morale :-D [I never alter stuff that would mislead people on the fit of the bra though; that would defeat the purpose of the site.]
I think the muscle spasm/bra thing is actually really common, and occurs in people of all shapes and sizes. Really, anyone who has boobs that weigh more than a few ounces and rely on the bra for any support can experience it. Some people tend to feel intense pain in their shoulders and neck instead, but it's basically the same issue: loose band causing major strain on shoulders, compressing nerves and all sorts of bad stuff.
I've heard of women experiencing such bad pain that it was mistaken for heart trouble or chronic inf;ammatory disease! -
No problem Wendybien! Its ok if you crop your photos, I can understand why you do it. I must admit then that I wish that I had your skills in that area, because the lighting in my room and on my webcam are terrible. The rich colors of my bras can't be seen (ok well not the cheap Target bra I am wearing lol).
Huh, I always thought that women with larger breasts experienced back pain. As for the women whose pain is mistaken for hear trouble, that sounds incredibly painful. Ouch!

helpfulTry Tutti Rouge Lillianna in 30 or 32 F, FF or G though it is not the best bra for projected breasts like yours. I own this bra in two different sizes and you can see my pictures with the right fit and I might tell you something helpful if you post photos.
In the current bra the wires are lying right on your breast tissue on the sides and that makes it too small.
Small bands hurt when the cup is too small. When band is really too small for you, first of all there are problems with fastening the hooks, not the pain.

Ok then fain, I think that I might give the Tutti Rouge bra another shot in the sizes you suggested. While I love the look of the 36d, I've got at least an inch and a half of space at the sides and bottom of the cups, and the band rides up way too much. The two colors you bought are GORGEOUS on you! You know I think it would be really nice if the collection came in a bright lime green, purple, sky blue, brown, red, orange, and etc. Ok I got way off track, please excuse me.
I don't mind posting the photos of me wearing the Tutti Rouge bra, I just think that I have posted too many questions so far on the troubleshooting forum.
Ok then, I think that it is amazing that you told me that if my band was truly too tight that I can't fasten the hooks around me. That information right there is really giving me the strength to try on 32 bands, so I think you for that.

Bras with larger bands have wider cups so you might overcome the problem with empty space on the sides with smaller band size.
I too hope that there will be more bras in the collection because it's the best model I ever tried.

helpfulYou know I really wish that there was a forum on this website. Anyways, I am wondering something. If I push my breasts up, then the depth of my breasts are 11 inches. And when I leave my breasts hanging then the depth is 9 inches. So should I push my breasts up to measure there depth or leave them down. Furthermore, I have to say that this website is amazing I can actually figure out which bras will fit me more because of the bra measurements! That is incredible, I wish that I hadn't wasted my money in bras that I can't fit. At the same time though I would have never found out all of this incredible wealth of information.
And I have another question, projected breasts come in varying degrees right? For instance, shallow breasts are not very projected is that correct?

It's a hard question about projections. It's like jam in different stages of cooking. When you drop it to the plate in the early stage it spreads all over the plate like water and in the final stage it's a one piece that does not spread at all. So the last one is very projected and first is not but the drops still come in different shapes and sizes like "full ot top", "full on bottom" etc.

Your response makes sense fain, thank you for the helpful explanation. I took pictures of bras I tried on today, and hopefully I will post them in a while.

Ok then thanks, that is amazing fit advice. I do remember that I tried on a 34DD in a Fredericks of Hollywood bra (I know, they're quality is not great but I needed something cheap), and I had the exact same issue my breasts couldn't fill the bottom of the cups, and the band always felt too tight. I also remember that I tried the Wacoal Embrace Lace in 32ddd and the cups were way too large, and it felt like the band was extremely tight.
I say all this to say that I don't think that I am as large as a 32ddd or 34dd (I know that 34dd or 32ddd breasts aren't large) but I don't have much breast tissue to begin with. Furthermore, I don't have a lot of fat around my ribcage (I do have some fat around my lower midsection), so I tend to like larger bands. For instance the 32dd DKNY bra I have hurts me around the band. Would it be recommended that I try a 34 band at least or that I find stretchy 32/34 bands?
I hope that you don't see me as being argumentative teremaailma, I just always thought that because I am more muscular that I would need to get a larger band size and a smaller cup size even though my measurements suggest otherwise.
