Original problem
I have very far apart, round breasts. I generally have trouble filling the tops of cups (especially the center top and the inner top of the cup near the gore).
I have yet to find a bra that I can get the part of my boob that is closest to my armpit into, so I think I am expecting too much as far as that goes. In fact, I have yet to find a bra that fits me well .
I have a few questions on fit:
Is the band at the top of the cups chopping into my breasts too much? This bra was recommended to me at a fitting and the fitter said that this quad boob was normal.I have worn this bra before in tan and the band stretched, but is it supposed to start out this tight?
Does the shape look ok on me?
Is the side boob falling out too much here? (I gathered my breasts into the cups leaning forward, etc, but once I move around, it pops back out of the bra again).

helpfulI have this same appearance from most bras, and it's not something that I consider acceptable. The top of the cup cuts in, and I'm always looking for a smooth line.
If it's acceptable to you and it doesn't bother you, then go with it. Otherwise, you probably want to look for cups that are more "open" on top, like balconettes. Freya makes a Deco Halfcup (not the same as the regular Deco) whose shape works much better for me because it is more open across the top. I'd suggest trying that to compare.

Thank you!! I would love to have a bra that is a bit lower for the summer time! I know what you mean about the fit. A balconette sounds like a good idea, much better than a plunge for me. I still have to get the hang of figuring out what size to get myself. Really happy for fitters and this site is really helpful too, glad I found it :)

If you have a chronic problem with cups that cut in at the top (like I do), you might have shallow breasts. You can take a look at these two posts and see if it seems like you:

Thanks for the links! I guess I'd be closest to Picture G but fuller on the bottom and the bottom sides...like on the outside of my ribcage I mean. The contour of my breasts on the bottom actually extends past the sides of my ribcage if I'm looking at my torso straight on in the mirror. I don't know if that makes sense. Just forgoing the top part of the cup and looking for a balconette seems like a wonderful idea the more I think about it.....how are those for support though?
-
A balconnette with wider wires can be great, in your size range support shouldn't be a problem unless it's a really flimsy construction. Depending how "short" your breasts are vertically you could even look at true demi cups.
-
I have cystic breasts so I need supportive bras because if not, it can be very painful for me as they become more swollen at times.
-
I personally (in a 32F UK) find balconettes supportive when the fit is good--you would probably have to try in order to find out. Some demis made nowadays come up very high on the breast too I find. Depending on your proportions bras designed to be low coverage can actually be almost full coverage and therefore more supportive... again you'll find this out through trial and error. Measurements on this site will help though and you can ask people what the cup height is in your size, and compare to your own anatomy to find out if a model is worth trying!

Support in the balconette shape is generally pretty good. Aside from molded cups in the balconette shape, you should look for bras with only vertical seams along the cups. The "Bras I Hate" blog has a good drawing showing different types of cup seaming patterns. The style you're looking for is the one on the far left:
http://brasihate.blogspot.com/2011/12/panache-tango-ii-not-heaviest-of-heavy.html
(A single vertical seam is acceptable as well, it doesn't have to be two vertical seams). We might sort of be boob twins. Mine used to be extremely sensitive and painful all the time, and I used to wear my bras too tight in the cups to keep them smushed into place so that they couldn't move at all. Even though I had small boobs, walking up and down stairs made them hurt a lot.
Years ago, someone told me that she had previously had the same problem with her boobs hurting all the time, and that it was cause by caffeine. At the time I thought it sounded like nonsense, but I gave it a try and it worked. I gave up caffeine entirely for years, and the boob pain went away entirely. Nowadays I allow myself 1 cup of tea or soda each day and that's a small enough amount that it doesn't cause a problem. I miss being able to drink whatever I want, but I sleep better at night and my boobs don't hurt.

helpfulIf it feels distinctly too tight on you, the rest is irrelevant--a well fitting bra MUST be comfortable. Do you have an extender at your disposal to try and see how it feels with that? Have you found other 28s to be good and 30s to be too big? If so, it might just be this design that runs tight or even just this bra in this color (some colorways can be tighter than others, bizarrely). Your measurements and pics suggest a lean torso with close to zero "squish factor" so seeing a band dig into the back flesh the way this one does on you, makes me concerned it is just too tight to be comfortable.
Too-tight bands can often migrate downwards, which could explain why you have that space at the cup bottom even though it is biting into you very slightly at the top.
Aesthetically it looks fine to me, and if you had said it was 100% comfortable I would call this a win. I would not worry about that (quite minor) quadboob effect unless it can be seen through a shirt. However, if you determine the band is indeed too tight, that could be the cause of the quadboob.

Thank you for your help! I had never worn a 28 band before I tried this style bra. Fitters usually put me in a 32 and took it in or a 30 and told me I'm more like a 28. I'm a bit lost honestly, haha. I don't know exactly what the bra should feel like or what sort of breasts I have. This is the closest I've gotten to a good fit ever. The tan bra I have like this started out slicing my back too but has now loosened (I've been wearing it for a month) and I now wear it on the middle hook.
-
Was the tan one a 28 band?
I would wear this one with an extender (easy to find in sewing goods stores, some department stores or in maternity/baby stores) and see what that does to the fit and comfort. The cup looks good, so your objective now is to find the fit that is comfy to YOU personally. Everyone is different in that regard. There is no rule about how it should feel, only that you should be comfortable :-)
-
Yes, it was also 28. The band on this black one feels a bit...tougher? I think I'll look into the bra extenders and see how it feels a bit looser too, good idea. :)

helpfulI have personally found this a very strange bra and I fail to imagine what shape it is supposed to fit in this size range -- see my reviews 32D - Panache » Porcelain Moulded T-shirt Bra (3376) and 32DD - Panache » Porcelain Moulded T-shirt Bra (3376) . As you can see from those reviews I had the same issue with the top edge of the cups being ridiculously tight even though in my case the band definitely wasn't. You *could* try this same bra in a band size up (the band does indeed look quite strained on you), but I'm inclined to think it just is a shape mismatch. Ulalume made some good suggestions -- those might be worth looking into. Another bra that has worked well for my own conical/shallow breasts is the Freya Deco Moulded Soft Cup Bra (4231) . This bra is completely wireless, but it gives amazing shape and is very comfortable.

Forgot that Cleo Maddie might work too. Again, it's a molded cup that's more open on the top.
