helpfulLucy is more of an FOB bra. If it's cutting into the top but seems to fit otherwise, Cleo Marcie may be a good alternative - the top lace is looser and the gore is narrower.
If you feel like the space at the side of the bra is excessive, then you should look into bra brands that are known for narrower wires. Freya is narrower, but also more FOB compatible as a general rule. I've heard bestform and lepel are both narrower bras. Bravissimo makes some bras with a narrower structure. Polish brands in general tend to be more narrow as well.

I second trying the Marcie. You appear to be fuller on top than this bra allows for (from the side profile).

Maglev89 think the bottom of my breasts is fuller but I have narrow roots so I always end up having excessive fabric on the side but not deep enough in the cup? I'm so confused. Can I send u a pic of my breast so that u can tell me what shape my breasts are and what style should I choose ?
-
Dorothy, you have a tall and narrow root with medium projection. If your breasts were wider, you'd have a classic shallow shape.
http://www.venusianglow.com/2012/09/small-breasts-with-broad-base.html
Since your breasts are narrow, the bras that work on shallow shapes end up too wide for you.
But you need to keep trying them, bc only they are open enough on top for you. Everything else is going to cut in and cause quadboob.
Also check out bras that work on large shallow shapes that need narrower wires. That would be Panache Andorra and Freya Deco Plunge. I would especially recommend the Freya Deco Plunge to you.

t_maia thanks I'll try it out

t_maia I have read some review of the freya deco plunge bra saying the band runs big
My back is only 23 inches. Would the 28 deco be too loose for me? -
I don't like the center gore of Lucy bras. I agree that it is too wide and I feel this way about Freya also. Every soft cup and moulded cup bras from Freya the center was also too wide for me.

helpfulHow much empty fabric at the sides? It doesn't look like there is a ton, but it can be hard to judge from pictures.
It could just be a bad style for you--gore too wide, too closed at the top etc. If so, getting a bigger size in this particular bra is not going to help in this regard and it will only create more empty space at the side within the wires.

wendybien thanks. Just a little bit of fabric at the side but it cut into my breast tissue quite a lot. What style would u recommend?
-
I'm not super confident recommending things in the under-30-band size range anyway but at this stage I'd focus first on trying styles with narrower gores and seeing how they match up with your breast width. Having too much or too little space on the sides can be caused by the cups (and wires) being wider or narrower than your breast tissue requires, OR by the cup placement being off in relation to the position of the breasts on the torso, and this latter factor obviously has a lot to do with gore width.
For example I have a Fayreform bra in my size which could be easily mistaken as having either too wide or too narrow wires (a bit of empty space at top of cups between the breasts, and rather a tight fit on the sides where the underwire sits) but in fact it is just a matter of a too-narrow gore i.e. the cups sit just a tiny bit closer together than my boobs do.

wendybien Thankyou so much :)

helpfulI think this bra is really pretty, I have one, and I think it looks really good on you. First of all, I would go up a cup size, if you really like this bra. There are some things you can do to actually make this bra fit you better and more comfortably.
I don't like the center gore of Lucy bras. I agree that it is too wide and I feel this way about Freya also. Every soft cup and Moulded cup bras from Freya the center was also too wide for me.
Plunge style bras that are open on top of the cups, are really comfortable for close set boobs. You look even to me and slightly FOT.
I agree with the suggestion about Cleo Marcie. The center gore is so much more comfortable than the Lucy. Also when the center gore of the Marcie stabs/digs into my sternum, I just move the wires outwards or down and that makes the stabbing stop.
If you really like this bra, Cleo Lucy, I would take the center gore in and size up to a 28FF, and bend the wires to make the cups more narrow and projected. MEB wrote a blog about how to do this. If you want to know more post a message and I will try to show/explain it to you. And if I can't make you understand I will show you MEB's blog about it, or find it for you.
I really like my red Lucy bra too. I have a 28F in florescent Lime color and it actually has more room in the cups than the red. I also have a Neon orange and that runs a little bigger too. If you wear an extender the wires and straps won't seem as wide: (also if you take in the center gore, the wires will be less wide).Updated on December 25, 2014 Flag this
sayitifyoumeanit thank you :) I'll try those brands
