Bra fitting help » Why doesn't this bra work for me?
Fantasie » Elodie Side Support Bra (2182) » 34J 34:13
Hello. I am new to bratabase and would like some advice about a bra that I thought would be perfect for me that just, well....isn't. The bra gives no real support and seems to push my breasts out to the sides despite the fact that the bra is supposed to have side support. The gore does not lay completely flat between my breasts. The cups wrinkle at certain times and cut into my breast tissue at other times. What's wrong with this fit for me? Any suggestions, please.

helpfulIt looks either too deep for you in the cup or else simply the cup size is too large. How much distance between the outer edge of your breast tissue (on your side, under your arm) and where the underwire sits?
I have rather soft tissue and this is what I look like in a bra that is too large in the cup and too tight in the band, for what it's worth. The breast sort of "pools" in the bottom of the cup as it is not filling the cup enough to get any uplift.

helpfulThis happens to me when I try to wear a bra that is too shallow in the center of my chest. Even if it has side support, it will push my breasts out to the sides and give me an east/west look. I have never tried this bra myself, however. But you and I are the same bra size. Here is a review of the bra you're struggling with: http://sophisticatedpair.com/blog/?p=11278
I have had a lot of luck with Panache Andorra Full Cup (5675) as well as Panache Envy Balconnet Bra (7285) they allow my center tissue a lot of space to come forward and they are also very supportive. I hope this helps.

Ad hominem is really unnecessary.

helpfulYou got a band that is too tight in combination with a too large cup. The cup gets pulled flat from the too tight band, thus it looks too small (rim cutting in, gore not tacking) when it is actually too big.

Based upon your underbust measurements you should be in a 38 band, not a 34 band. You got a loosely measured underbust of 38 inches, thus 38 band. Your tight ribcage confirms it - 86.4 cms -> rounded to nearest 5 -> 85 -> 38 band.
Traditional sizing methods would put you in a 42 band. Considering that most bras are designed with plus 4 in mind, a 38 band should be tight enough.
Could you please measure your bust standing, lying and bowed forward without a bra? This would give me a chance to suggest a better size for you than 34J.
Eyeballing you up my guess is that you need around 38G UK.

I would disagree that she needs to be in a size 38 band. I think a size 36 would be best at a comfortable rib cage.

I agree with bmille40 that a 36 is better--Fantasie has a firm band and her measurements support a 36 in that brand.

helpfulThis looks like what you're experiencing. It happens to me too, especially in Fantasie and Elomi full cups.

Erica from Sophisticated Pair has a case of reverse letterphobia. I would not take her reviews as gospel. A lot of the problems the OP experiences are due to a too large cup and a too small band.
