Issue resolved
Used as a starting point, went down two band sizes, and up several cup sizes.
Original problem
New to the site, just learned about the wonderful world of proper bra fitting about a month ago, and have yet to buy a new bra in my measured size because I just don't know what styles I need to look for. I'm not confident on determining my shape, root width, etc. aside from knowing I have pendulous breasts that hang down a good 4 fingers below the root and seem to compress into a smaller cup than I've been measured for without overflowing.
I've been fitted at Nordstrom twice, the first time they measured me as a 38F(US), the second as a 36G(US), however I tried on several brands and styles in a 34 band and sister sizes to determine comfort, and I preferred the tighter band. A couple styles felt like they would have been more comfortable with an extra half inch or so using an extender, but the 36 felt just a bit looser than I'd like. The one I felt I had the best fit in was actually the Chantelle Rive Gauche in a 34F(UK), although the FF fit quite well too.
My measurements:
Break the tape - 33
Comfortably snug - 34.25
Inhaled loose - 38
Standing bust - 42.5
Leaning bust - 45.25
Laying bust - 42.5
The Sizemapp website calculated me at a 34G/34I (UK/US).
Anyway, I'd just like to know what would best suit my shape and which size I should start with for ordering. In the bra pictured, I've scooped and swooped, although it's just too loose to hold anything in place.

helpfulWhy not go for the Chantelle you mention? Also try Fantasie in that same size of 34FF or F. (I also have pendulous breasts and like the side-support cups in some Fantasie bras). Since sizemapp said 34G, go for FF at first.
That VS bra is just, well, sad. Since you already like the Chantelle better, could you post a fit request in that one?

Hmm, in that case, I'd suggest buying the one you think fits best, if you like it after trying it on again. Or try it on, get a friend to take photos, take measurements in the store (not stretched band as that can damage it) and post as if owned (then you can go back and mark as not owned).
But basically, I'd probably get the Chantelle if I were you.

helpfulHi! I'm new too, but I think we might have somewhat similar boobs, so I'm gonna try to help. Mine aren't quite pendulous, but they're soft. They do that "compressed in a small cup without overflowing" thing. And it's hard to tell from a pic, but I think you might have a wide root. Definitely try the Chantelle again. And I get good shape and support with @Wacoal Reveal Contour. (it doesn't show as a fit in my profile because I'm a cup size off on my larger breast.)
I've had quite a few suggestions on here for 3 part cups. I'm trying them out and they're hit or miss, but I think if I can find some with shallower cups it'll be a great style. Might work for you too.
And I agree: based on measurements and recommendations, I'd start with a 34FF. Good luck!

Thanks, I'll be looking into the Wacoal you suggested. I tried on only a couple in that brand when I was at the store, but I don't really recall what I thought of them. I did order the Chantelle in 34F from eBay yesterday though, and will be able to post a fit request for it for a better starting point as well.

helpfulI would try the Freya Deco, since it is the go to bra of women everywhere. Also, I would suggest buying a few bras of various styles to truely determine what's best. Online, we can only give you a guesstimate. I would suggest buying your first few bras from eBay or bratabase or a great bra sale or clearance online since they're likely to be much cheaper. I would not suggest a plunge for you initially. Try moulded cups if you want more firm support, it will likely mold your breasts upwards, instead of their natural downwards.
Hope this helps.

This does help, thank you. I have been looking around the listings here, as well as on eBay the last few days, and I ordered the Chantelle I mentioned to give me a better base to start with.

I wasn't sure if I could post about the Chantelle one since I don't have any of the bra measurements, as I only tried it on in the store and snapped a few pictures there. I will look into Fantasie though, thank you.
