Issue resolved
Too small and wrong shape.
Original problem
I've gotten so I can't tell if a bra fits or not. I love the look of this bra for fancy occasions, but it's too "moulded" for my taste for an "everyday" bra.
I'm wondering about the fit more for the size and style of the bra than whether or not I will keep this one. (It's gorgeous. The photos aren't good depictions of it at all.)
Style/shape-wise I feel like I'm running out of options. If I'm not in the ballpark here I don't know what else to try. Is Braologie the only brand/style that can truly fit me?
The "quad-boobs" in the photo are when I'm standing up, a little more poised than my usual stance. When I lean forward or sit down, the tissue stays in the cups.
The center gore feels a little bit too wide, but this could be because I've never worn this shape before. This looks like it would "feel" like other balconettes (i.e. Cleo), but on my body this feels more like a bandeau.

helpfulNo. The band seems loose and the cups too closed on the top or too small (can't really tell). I'm leaning towards the wrong shape though. What happens if you move the hooks to the loosest?

Your boobs are taller and more narrow. This bra is more wide and short. Try the plunge instead :) Possibly one size up?
-
I'm certain that's the only time in my life "tall and narrow" have been used as adjectives for me, lol!
Now I really, really want to the the Plunge version. It had never occurred to me to try it over the balconette...(Slapping myself upside the head). I've had bad luck with plunges in the past, but, like I said with this balconnet, it's possible Parfait's plunges fit in a different way than others I've tried.
I'm still reeling over "tall and narrow". Wow! :-)
-
Haha yes I figured you would react that way :D But compared to this bra you are :D At least taller :D And so I figure the plunge version should be a better fit. But I'm unsure about size for it.

So, I'm wearing this bra today (very comfortable). I tried loosening the band, but the bra wouldn't stay in place. So I've tightened it again. I loosened the straps, a lot, however. By loosening the straps they "miraculously" no longer pinch in my underarms, and they now only feel slightly too wide-set.
When I looked up photos of models wearing this bra, the bra fits on them similarly to the way it fits on me (from what I can tell anyways). In reality, this ad photo probably isn't showing a good fit?

All I can say is those Braologie bras of mine must be doing their job overtime - because I think these cups are too small! (Not affiliated with Braologie other than as a customer). No matter how I try to manipulate my tissue to pack it into the cups I get tissue bulge over-under-sideways. I realize today that it's not that the center gore is too wide - it's that it's not actually touching my sternum. :-(
Should I try the balconnet in a 30E? Or should I try the plunge in a 30DD? (I have to order these online and I have no way of trying them on...so I attempt to be as accurate as possible when I send for bras).

The bottom of the cups look small when you compare your pictures to the model. It looks like she is wearing the bra higher or like the wires are right under breast tissue. To me it looks like yours is a little lower. Maybe a 30E would give you more room in the top and bottom of the cups.

It's definitely the shape of the bra vs. my body. The bra is seriously "moulded"...not like Panache Porcelain where it sort of shapes to my body. This one forces my tissue into a shape it's not used to and it's protesting, lol.
Believe it or not the wires are RIGHT under my breast tissue. They look lower because of the shape of the cups. My tissue goes down, up and to the sides...anywhere but forward!
It doesn't really look like it in the photo, but these cups are really very tight as well.
Overall - this bra reminds me a bit of a LeMystere Tisha bra I used to have. It seemed like it would be the perfect shape for me, but it wound up being a mess. I wore it once and i was ready to burn it. It turned out to fit my sister perfectly (except she needs and extender on the band) so maybe my sis will be getting a Charlotte soon. :-)

helpfulThe cups seem like they're the wrong shape for you - Probably too small as well. You got some major quad boob, even for having poised posture. Can you try it in a 28?

nonflexy - I wish it came in 28! For Parfait, 30 is the smallest band (at this point). In a magazine I read I saw the Charlotte Balconnet and shorts showcased as what to wear if "Dressing Great for Gatsby". I'm enamored with anything Art Deco, so I found this set irresistible. I love the pin stripes, and the soft peach satin. I'm not sure if there is a big difference or not between the styles of the Balconnet Charlotte and the Padded Charlotte. I was attracted to the balconnet because it was more unusual looking, and the Padded Charlotte looked like a regular bra. Hopefully I'll get to try the padded version soon. I wouldn't mind having two bras from this gorgeous set.

Actually, starting this season, Parfait started making 28 bands as well as up to K cups in some of there models. Here's a plunge in 28E: http://www.largecuplingerie.com/bras/affinitas-parfait-charlotte-uw-padded-bra-peach-black-6901.html

helpfulHonestly please don't get mad at me. The band looks too small, the straps looks like they are fixed way too short and the cups look too small too. I'm sorry if you don't like what I said, I'm just telling you what I'm seeing. If I tighten all my straps really short the band will ride up like it's too big even if it's too small. I hope I helped you. Sorry ahead of time for any offense.

Jasminepetra - I could never get mad at you! If I didn't want an answer I wouldn't have posted a fit request. I respect your comments very very much and I really appreciate your input.
It seems crazy, but I don't know what's too big or too small or anything anymore, lol.
I'm going to try this with the band looser and the straps as well. Tightening everything so much comes from decades of wearing bras that were the wrong size and now I forget I don't have to do that anymore!
I will let you know if it works (fingers crossed). :-)
THANK YOU!

I was have issues and I loosened the straps or they were already loosened and I didn't realize it and the bra fit me better. You're welcome sweetie :)
-
Are the straps too wide? They look wide
-
I found this bra to be just wrong for me in every way. Even when I got a size that theoretically "fit", it still looked wrong. I wanted it to work!! But the shape didn't work for me and I accepted that. Reluctantly. :)
I'm not so sure this shape works on you from what I'm seeing.
-
*sigh* The shape doesn't work. Or it's too small. I can't tell. I thought this shape would look good under my shirts, like my Ewa CH (which is too big but I love the shape) or my Freya Longlines. Turns out, not at all. I think one of the problems is the cups are SO stiff they don't allow any stretch for any natural shaping. I read somewhere that the shape I'm getting is called "duck bill" (I'm not fond of that terminology, but apparently it's understood in the fitting community.) My breasts look even flatter on top and lower on my chest, and much less rounded or full. The center gore actually points out at an angle...odd shape.
I LOVE the art deco look of the bra, though. It's really gorgeous. Maybe I'll try the "plunge" model or try going up in the cups. These cups are so shallow to begin with I could probably use more depth.
-
Jasminepetra - I don't think the straps are too wide, but I can see why you thought so based on the photos. One of the problems is the awkward angle I used in that first photo. The other problems is that that straps are actually being pushed to the sides by that "shallow" upper tissue of mine. I think I've discovered a whole new shaping in armpit boobs, lol! The whole bra pushes everything (boobs and fat), upward, but the closed cups don't allow the tissue to go into the bra cups.
I'm going to try bending and twisting and reshaping these cups to see if I can get more room on top. I don't know if that will help, though, because these cups are super shallow. They're almost "straight across" rather than tapering; like a bandeau.
-
You're funny. lol
-
I love the art deco look of the bra too. And when I looked at it on me, "bandeau" is exactly what came to mind. I do hope you find some way to make it work for you.
-
Damn. I knew you'd say that.
I'll try loosening the band later & let you know if it does anything. The band feels a little on the loose side already though. It even slid up a little when I lifted my arm for the side photo.
As you know, I like the tall sides (and the wire length)...so I don't understand what is going wrong. Sadly, I agree that something is wrong.
