Bra fitting help » Any tips on a bra that will fit me well?, size ? type ? etc.
Chic By Change » Isla Mona » 65F 30:7
I've recently realized that none of my bras fit.
This is the closest thing to a well fitting bra I have right now, and it's slightly to small on my bigger breast and bands rides up in the back some.
So if someone can give me some tips on types of bras & sizes that may fit.
it would make me happy.

helpfulSounds like you need a 26 or 28 band, for starters.I would think 28G,maybe a 28GG,possibly 28H in some styles if the cup runs small, would be a good place to start,in a band that's more firm.
A 26H -26HH may work too.Ewa Michalak may work, though I think Comexim might work better for you.

She seems to be very similar to you.

Here's her profile,I think looking through her reviews and measurements would be helpful for you. She might have better advice than I do,probably would since she's more your size.I can't suggest from experience like her, only observation.

I'm pretty sure I saw a few Ewa bras in your size range in the for sale listings on here if you decide to try a few of them.
Another one that could work, though don't take my word for it is,this bra.I've heard it runs small in band,or at least very firm, and a little small in cups.

Reviews and measurements for the 30G.Judging by that,it sounds like you could need a either a 30GG or 28HH.

Oops,I was looking at measurements of her current bra and some other factors, not her breast perimeter.Though I suggested 28H for bras that run small in the cups. Thanks for pointing that out so I can pay better attention next time and factor that in. :)
You'd probably know better since you are closer to her size. :) -
It's alright. We all make mistakes. It's just that I have suffered from reverse letterphobia for so long that I'm very vigilant about that.
-
Ah,ok.I tend to be pretty passionate about things I've suffered from as well. :)
When I started out buying bras I thought,no way was I that big and so I bought bras 1-4 sizes smaller than the size one of the more accurate calculators gave me,and of course they were too small,so I tend to have the opposite problem.lol -
I agree that she seem to be very similar to me, depending on how tight/ lose you take your measurements :)
comexim sounds like a nice brand, seem like I should need a 60 G or maybe even 60H in that brand after checking measurements and reviews, which sounds a little weird since I'm used to wearing bras in 70C/75B/ 75 C etc..
They had a couple of Bras I really like the look of. Bras in green or with green details :) awesome ( green velvet & paradise for ex. )Ewa bras seem a little trickier to find the right size in. but have lot of sizes,
the last one seems very nice too, especially in red. It's so hard to figure out what size and style to try and in which brand.
and how you should think when deciding a possible size in a bra. -
I used to wear 36C's and 38D's when I needed 34H's and 36G's,it was sad.haha.I'm still getting used to it,especially after jumping in cup size again.
I love the green velvet and paradise too. :) Sadly they are now out of my size range, wish I had known about them when I was smaller.I plan to keep asking in case they will extend it.
It is really hard.Even after spending many hours researching and comparing measurements and then knowing a bit from the bras I have tried.
After I sell some of my old ones,I will just have to take my chances and order, even if they don't work,at least I'll have a better idea of what sizes and styles work for me. :)
To start out,it's probably best to order 3 different bras to try, though, long as that is affordable for you.
I'm not sure if you live in the US or outside of it,but picking places that offer returns or exchanges is very helpful, too.
I believe ASOS,Figleaves, and Bravissimo allow this if I remember right.
That ebay store that sells the last red one will allow that,I don't know if it'd be expensive to return if you are outside the US,though. They are very prompt with answering questions.
I think as a general rule size down in cup when ordering a non padded bra, especially if it has some stretch in cup,and up a cup size in more padded. -
I live in Sweden, so outside of US. :) It's a little irritating when you find one your really want, and then discover that they don't make it in your size.
In my case it's probably a good thing that I don't have very much to choose from, because I'm very bad at it:)I really want a green bra, doesn't seem to be that many, especially dark ones. so I may take chance on Comexin.

I hope it works! :)

helpfulThat bra looks like the wires are too wide for you. In this one at least I think a 60H (which is 28FF UK), might work better. That being said, I think you'd do best in a 28F with narrow wires and medium projection. Maybe Claudette ? Freya is the closest brand I can think of to that that might work as a substitute.

claudette only have 30 bands and up?
sounds like freya may work, except most of freyas 28 bands seems to stretch more than the 30 band I own. -
Not true at all about Claudette. They have 28 bands on herroom and some other online stores, they started last season.
Secondly, Change is the stretchiest brand I can think of. A Freya 28 would likely be a vast improvement. They've been getting tighter than they have been in the past lately (in my opinion at least).
-
Sorry, I have no clue when it comes to bras.
I didn't find any claudettes in 28 when I did a fast search before, that's why there's a question mark after. so I wondered if they existed.
but I simply didn't search enough then.when it comes freya, I only compared the measurements of the bands when stretched not how much the bands stretch. and they seemed similar, but I see now that I formulated that sentence wrong. and if they've getting tighter, awesome :)
I think anything would be an improvement on the one I have now, It's wrong in so many ways.

I would try going down a band size and up one cup size. So roughly a 28FF . Depending on the bra. Are your breasts closely set? How do you feel in different styles other than plunges? IE Balconettes; full coverage.
I would second Comexim. I pretty much buy all my bras exclusively from them as I love the fit and the quality. Keep in mind they have the narrowest wires I have come across so far which are perfect for me. I wear a 28G uk sizing but a 60J in comexim. Their plunges are a bit more full coverage So I would suggest asking them to remove a bit of fabric near the straps ( they have no issues doing this, and their gores are high for a plunge So I have them lowered) Or just go a cupsize smaller than what you think you need. I would try a 60H/HH in comexim.
-
I don't think they are, but I'm not clear on the definition of close set breasts.
I don't think I've tried anything else. maybe 1 or 2 balconettes, but not in any size close to fitting.
As long as the bra makes them look good, fits and dosen't. hide them too much ( too much coverage makes me think of sports bras or granny)Nice ! that they can do that for you.
what does it cost to have them do alterations? -
They don't charge for alterations :)
Sakurablossom Are you sure the cup just isn't too big? Full coverage on a plunge is often a sign of too big.
-
Jillsas I am sure as the cups do give me a bit of quad boob. They are just a bit more coverage in the upper parts near the straps is what I mean so not as open. I have tried a size down I quad boobed majorly but my boobs still were not everywhere.
-
surice When you are not wearing a bra how many fingers can you get between your breasts before actually reaching tissue?
Comexim Makes boobs look amazing and it really isn't that much coverage at all. I just like a lot of cleavage. And alterations are free and the bra only cost you about $40.00 and are absolutely beautiful in my opinion. How did you feel about the Balconettes? Did the gores bother you at if they tacked to your chest? The biggest question what are looking for it a bra? Style? Cleavage, minimizing? Appeal? Did you want some cleavage bras but also bras that allow you to be a not so out there?
-
Sakurablossom one finger I think, not more at least.
The only balconette I've tried is the Curvy Kate Princess, and both the wire and the gore wasn't comfortable enough for me to be able to wear it, ( 28G fitted the best) but I think many balconettes look nice. but I haven't tried enough of them to know if they work for me.
At the same time that I tried the princess I also tried the freya deco
(fitted the best in 28FF ) which gaped a little if I didn't have good enough posture.what I look for in a bra I'm not really sure of,
But I know that I,m not interested in anything minimizing, I already think of my boobs as small, so i do not want them to look smaller than they are.but some cleavage bras and some bras that allow me to be not so out there would be nice to have:)

I'm sorry that no one answered you. I really do think that Claudette would be good for that and I stand by my suggestion (they give an uplifted shape that isn't perfectly round, this tends to make breasts look smaller).
As for cleavage bras, maybe the Parfait Charlotte? It's fairly shallow, so it minimizes, but it gives cleavage in the right size.
-
It's okay, I think the bras from claudette seems nice and I like the look of them, but they seem a a little hard to find in my size.
I like the look of the parfait charlotte so have nothing against trying it.

helpfulMy measurements almost like yours and I have been wearing a 28 Ff lately. my 28 F are getting too small in the cups. I would start with the 28 FF and if its too small go for a G cup. other than that I don't know what breast shape you have so I don't know. I am guessing wide root and close together and round. with even top and bottom fullness???

Close together and round. with even top and bottom fullness sounds like it could describe my shape, the wide root I'm not sure about, but I'm not clear on the definition.
-
I think it means a lot of horizontal depth esp. Towads center to sides of your breasts. I think it means you can wear wider wires better than narrow wires. Like Cleo I noticed is good for close set semi or wide rooted breasts. Some of my best fitting bras except for I need to alter straps because they are too wide set for me. I have that issue wuth sll my bras. Does anyone know of a brand I could try for narrow shoulders? Where the straps are closer to the center of my boobs instead of by my arms??

helpfulYou'd need to try a 26 band and sistersize from 30FF or 30G down to a 26 band, which would be either 26GG or 26H, Ewa Michalak and Coxemim offers small band sizes.

Where did you even get 28H?! Her breast perimeter is 9.4 inches. Mine's bigger than that and I can't even fill out a 28GG.
