Bra fitting help » Cups too big, or am I just too shallow?

Issue resolved
OK, I guess I'll try my hand at altering the cup or see if I can find a 30F. Thanks for all the suggestions;definitely got some helpful advice that I never would have thought of!
Original problem
I'm pretty obviously not filling out all of the fabric in the top of the cup. I'm not sure if going to a cup size would help or if this bra is just not a good fit for my breasts. They're somewhat shallow and they're pretty soft. The bottom of the cup seems fine, and I don't have much, if any, empty space on the side.

helpfulYeah, it looks a little bit too deep. Not sure if sizing down will create additional problems. If you want to keep this you can try the BIHAL How to make a pointy bra round alteration since that takes out volume in the cup.

I have a similar issue with most bras (I'm a 32DD) Tried going down a cups size (to a 32D) and it was definitely too small. You may find that this is indeed your size, just the wrong shape.

helpfulHow is the band fitting? ( Does it feel too tight or too loose or just right when it is on the loosest set of hooks?) It looks like your not wearing it on the loosest set of hooks.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that... it's on the middle set of hooks in the pics. The band is about perfect there; it okay on the first set but it doesn't feel properly snug.
-
I would try a smaller band.
-
What would that do? (I can't seem to word that in a way that doesn't sound snarky, but I promise I'm not being snarky!) Does it change the way the cup fabric lays?
-
I'm with the "try a smaller band" folks. Cups and bands are proportional, so a smaller band will also make the cup size a bit smaller. You could try looking at the comparison chart (maybe focus on cup width and cup depth) to get a sense of how much the cups of this bra change between sizes, and then compare those numbers to a bra that fits you better.
-
Hmmm...I had kind of figured that sister sizing down would give me kind of the same cup issues...but looking at the measurements, the 30F cup measurements are a lot closer to my 32E Cleo Lucy which fits just fine. The 30E Ariza measurements look a little small, I think.
-
Oh I'm glad that was useful! I hope that you can find a good fit with the 30F.

no worries I understand. but like chromae explained earlier. Cup and bands are proportional. compare it with your bras that current fit ie Cleo Lucy, just place more importance on the cup depth and cup width. Than go to gore width and height :) I find that is what works the best for me when I am trying to find bras with similar measurements that fit me already.

helpfulA 30 E might work. Or 30 F if the 30 E is too small.

Yeah, I just checked the measurements and the 30F looks like it might work. 30E looks a bit small, but I'm going to compare the measurements for both of those to the bras I have that fit and see what's what!
-
but keep in mind the 30F is the sister size of 32E. So you might experience the same fit issues that your experiencing currently with this bra in 32E
-
Yeah. I agree with Sakurablossom. But with all of my bras the gaping at the top is due to the strap placement being too far apart. if I had a more centered strap on all my bras I would have no gaping at all. I could never wear a 32 E but I can occasionally where a 30 F.
-
I just noticed after my previous comment that the straps look kind of wide set on you. I don't know if that has anything to do with your gaping. how I tell if I lift up like an inch away from the original strap like there is a strap there, and if the gaping goes away then I know the straps are too wide

Oh, awesome! I was hoping there was an alteration that would fix this! This bra is part of my first matching set and the undies are great so I'm kind of attached to it.
