Bra fitting help » Is my Freya too small?
Freya » Deco Moulded Plunge Bra (4234) » 32F 32:7
Issue resolved
Thanks for all of your help. I'm going to try a Freya Deco in the next size up (32FF) and see how that works. I may also try sizing down to a 30 band (for a 30G), but currently I'm most comfortable with the larger band while I continue losing weight.
Original problem
Recently I've started having issues of tightness on my larger breast (the left one)in my Freya Deco. Yesterday I went bra shopping, but had some issues fitting into Freya and Panache (mostly Cleo)into 32FF bras, but Bratabase is suggesting that I try bras in 32E based on my measurements. I'm starting to get confused on where I should start (let alone navigating all of the variations from style to style).
I have rather full, rounded breasts. They're no particularly volumous (they don't expand to fill their container), but they also don't tolerate much constriction at the top of the cups (hence the discomfort).
I'm grateful for any advice or insight that you might have!

helpfulI don't have a lot of suggestions, except I do know some women with full on top boobs often need to size up in bras or choose styles that are more suited for full on top boobs.I would ignore the 32E except if a style runs very large or is more suited for your shape.
When you say issues,do you mean it was a little too big?
Some of these posts may be helpful, you can look around the blog to find more about shape and reviews.

Just so you know, the Deco is actually a good bra for full on top breasts, and tends to gape on full on bottom breasts.

Hi Jillsas,
From looking around on this website today, I do know that Deco is a good fit for my general shape (it was also the only bra carried at Nordstroms that was a good fit for me when I purchased it 6 months ago).
I was thanking SparklesDarkles because she helped me to pin point (through her links) my major problem with bra shopping.
I am still concerned that the bra in this size is no longer a good fit.

It does seem for the deco, you are sort of in between sizes for it...especially looking at your breast perimeter and the cup depth.A 32FF is a little too big especially since the deco is a cleavage bra and needs to not be full coverage. Some people will wear it a few sizes too small as they love the cleavage and deco only goes up to a GG.Compared to some bras, the deco runs large. Some people say it runs average, but that depends on which bra you are basing off as a "normal size".So really, whether or not you should wear this deco is a matter of personal choice and comfort. If this one is too constricting, but you love the deco, you could try a 32FF with push up pads, maybe from Ewa Michalak.Or else just move onto other bras.
I've heard that the Cleo Marcie is one of those bras that will decide if you are full on top, full on bottom,or even.It best fits those full on top.
I've been actually wanting to try the neve myself! :) -
Yup, just chiming in with some support to ignore the suggestion to try 32E. I got the same recommendation on here, but I consider 32FF my go to size. And I'm FOT, shallow and slightly pointy. It could also be because I'm quite firm and not pendulous. I've found that Sizem http://www.sizemapp.com/en/ is more accurate and Butterfly collection's calculator http://www.butterflycollection.ca/bra-size-calculator/ works even better for me.

helpfulHi Maglev89 , I'm a little late to the conversation, and I'm far from an expert around here, but....we're very close in shape and size. My perimeter is 10 and nip to neck is just under 7, high on chest, close set, short root, close boobs, full on top. My loose ribcage measurement is 30 and snug is 29.
Anyway, your photos look exactly like me in too small deco - squished out of middle, triangle thingy above gore, slight quadding top/along middle edge, not enough room in bottom of cups.
My best fit so far is Marcie 30F (cups slightly too wide in armpit, and too separate in middle, but I do the opposite swoop - run finger along inside of cup and gently swoop outwards and up, and then the wires just kind of sit on top of each other). I wear deco in sister size of 28FF (still extreme cleavage, but not squished together, the wires fit better, the bottom of cups sit where they should because there is enough room, and straps seem closer together)
The deco band is quite a bit stretchier than Marcie. How tight did you take your underbust measurement, and how does this band fit you? And the 32FF Marcie - do the wires and band also fit you well? Depending on how the 32 band on the deco fits you, I would suggest trying a 30G, 1 band down and 2 cup up???? Or if the band is ok, maybe 32FF?Updated on October 15, 2013 Flag this

helpfulIt looks like you're wearing the bra too low. Can you bring the bra up too as high as you can wear it without your breasts spilling out the bottom? You'll get much better support in it. As for your pictures, I don't see any quading, so I'm not really seeing the too small issue.

I second this!

Hi Jillsas,
The bra is as high as it can go (otherwise the wires will be pressing onto my breast tissue). What you can see above the center gore, is actually extra breast tissue that has been pressed out of the molded bra.
As for the quad boob part, I think that it doesn't show as much because the entire cup in angled both down and forward (possibly also why you think it looks low?). I have very dense breast tissue, and as it is they feel rather constricted, but I can try tightening the straps so the bra is more 'upright' like it's supposed to be?

Those links are kind of useless because I don't know which one's you. Do you scoop and swoop or jiggle and swoop? I find that jiggle and swoop works better for wearing the bra at the right height.
I don't really know what you mean by being pressed out of the mould? Does that mean it's quad-boobing, or are you just worried about the cleavage? I don't know.
I'm mostly saying this because I see empty cup on the bottom and because of the shape of your cleavage (usually if there's a triangle underneath, the bra is too low).
-
I didn't include pictures of myself, I was showing you how the bra generally looks (lifted instead of pushed out).
I have uploaded another picture with the bra straps adjusted so the bra is more upright.
-
Oh, I know what this bra looks like, I have tried this on several times, and fitted several people I know in real life into it.
The plunge doesn't have a push up bump, which is why there shouldn't be a triangle (do you get what I mean)? Have you tried jiggling and swooping instead of scooping and swooping?
If that's the look it gives you when you jiggle and swoop (that is make sure that the wire goes around your breast with no empty space anywhere), then this probably isn't the bra for you. I have a feeling that a 32FF would gape on you (not to discourage you from trying it).
-
Just chiming in here, I get the triangle in all cleavagey bras, and they are most definitely pulled up high enough, that's just how my boobs are.
-
Perhaps I'm just confused about how there can be a triangle if not for wires sitting too low. The angle of the thing would make it all wrong for wearing your bra at the correct height. Could you maybe explain?
-
Well, I'm not sure I can explain, it's just how my boobs are, but I'll try. With a really low gore like this, my boobs are very round shaped when lifted, closer together in the middle of the cleavage than at the bottom, so that's where the V comes from, I imagine. I'm not saying it never means that the wires are pulled up, just that it doesn't always.
Another possible explanation, is that the underbust crease is not as rounded U shaped as the wire, but flatter. So the wire can be pulled up to the maximum at the sides and middle, but there will be a little gap at the bottom middle of each cup. I get this with some bras, and the deco is one of them.
-
I agree with amy_rebecca. In a broad sweeping statement, anything that creates cleavage on me will make a triangle with my breasts. I figure any one or a combination of my breast shape factors could contribute to this: round, full on top, wide root, and/or close boobs.
-
amy__rebecca Non-round root would definitely make sense.
-
Also you look close set like me- I find that if the gore is wide (even in deco despite is being a plungey bra) the center of my boobs push the bra down. Even if there is plenty of space on the sides leftover. Like a half orange in a glass. I second a wish for less hemispherical underwires. I would love a steep one in my close set center that has a flat bottom. (...not a UU, but more of a \__| |__/...wih even less steep on side)

helpfulYes, when your boobs smoosh together like that in the middle it's usually an indicator of a too small cup size.

Thank you for the help!
I looked at the websites you linked, and I think that you've picked out the reason why I always have so much problem having a good fit in the majority of bra styles (full on top).
Sorry about the vague part of my description. I did mean that the majority of them were a poor fit in the cup because there was some area that was a little too big (dependent on the style).
I was able to find two bras that aren't too constrictive on the top of my breasts, but the cups are also filled out. They're Cleo's Neve and Marcie, both 32FFs.
