Bra fitting help » Odd fit with little lift on Envy- Need some pointers on where to go from here
Panache » Envy Balconnet Bra (7285) » 32K 32:15
Issue resolved
I have found that the type of material the bra cup is made out of (stretch lace) is too unsupportive for my breast shape and size.
I will look for bras with a strong material on the lower cup and lace on top such as the Panache Jasmine and try deeper cups with narrower wires, as well as more close set brands and styles. Full cups are an option.
Will try more full cup bras in elomi and start Ewa Michalak in a 70Kk in their S style for support and possibly a PL style which is close set.
Original problem
I'm not entirely sure what's going on with this bra. I also tried a 32JJ. I know that a 30KK/L would work best if it existed I think. It just has like no lift and the straps are tightened as much as possible, though the cups don't quadboob. I know this isn't the perfect shape for me, but I'm trying to figure out what is.
The center gore almost but doesn't completely tack. I also think that the cups aren't close enough together. I think the straps are too wide apart, yet too narrow. The cup is also too wide I think, it comes under my arms.
And this gaping, always! I know I could alter this bra to make more lift and the band tighter, but it just doesn't feel supportive and my back frankly begins to hurt in it as is. Oh and the straps leave marks.
Can anyone give me any pointers for the future? I think the side projection and lace is overall good for me, but I just don't know where to go from here.

helpfulI honestly think that this bra just isn't supportive enough for you! The lace is too stretchy. I struggle with the same problem...Heavy breasts need a little more support. Try a molded cup or a bra with thicker material , and maybe a three or four part cup. The Panache Harmony is still a fabric bra but made of a sturdier material and it's pretty good for full on top gals like us. You could try that...

Thanks for the suggestion but I agree with Jillsas. I think based on my experience with the Tango that that shape won't work for me. Actually after I try the Jasmine I think I'm sadly done with Panache for now as the shape seems all wrong for me.
-
The harmony and tango are very very different bras just so you know. Only things with tango in their name will be similar shapewise.
-
I understand, I just meant that I heard Panache has wide wires and the Tango is as far as I know a well known model so I would guess mostly all of Panache 's models have similar wide wires for people to draw that conclusion of Panache, if that makes sense.
-
Panache had wider wires but you haven't seen wide wires until you've tried the harmony. I'm talking ridiculous wideness.
-
Wow that link says 8.2 inches wide... Wires an inch less wide than that already come up under my arm so yeah no, definitely not for me.
-
Wing height and wire width are totally different.

helpfulIn larger sizes it seems like stretchy fabric offerings are not stable enough for that type of breast. It seems like it stops working right around J. If there were immensely supportive bras like the Tango that were open on top (and a little more depth), I think it would be perfect in your size range.

It makes sense sadly. Is the Jasmine more supportive on the bottom? Right now I have decided to try some Curvy Kate which should be on the way, particularly the Romance and the Portia as I heard the wires are narrower. I was also thinking of ordering custom sizes from EM but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Other than that I'm at my limit with my current knowledge. Freya was suggested to me once but I hear conflicting opinions on that.

In my opinion, you can give Curvy Kate and Freya both a miss, as they don't really work very well in the largest cup sizes. CK has the apex of the bras in a really odd spot, and the wires tend to be wide and cups shallow, even with the 'improved' design. You can get a visually okay fit by sizing up a lot and tightening the life out of the straps, but it's not comfortable for daily wear.
Freya's underwires are basically useless over an H cup for most people, as they can't stand up to the force from projection.
I can't tell, but in the photos, are you wearing the bra on the tighest or the loosest hook? If you're wearing it on the loosest one (which I know is habit when trying on new bras), I'd be interested to see how it looks on the firmest one, as I'm not sure if a little more backwards tension from the band will give you more lift. The other thing which would possibly be worth a go is taking in the gore. If the gore tacked, you may feel a bit more secure in the bra.
If you are trying Ewa Michalak out, I don't think you'd need to order a custom size and could just get a bra from the dropdown, as they make S bras (and I think they do the nursing bra KM as well?) in 70K and 70KK, and I'm thinking maybe a 70K would be a good place to start (the narrower, deeper cup would mean that you may not need to size up). In my opinion, they're not the most supportive bras in very large cup sizes, and the straps are set quite far apart, and can be a little flimsy depending on which cut you get, but the cup design is a lot more comfortable than Panache, who has nice bands and straps, but the cup design isn't great. It's a bit of an act of compromise, as it doesn't really feel like any company is in touch with the needs of women with smaller band sizes and very large cups, so you have to pick which features in a bra you want to have the most, and then alter or put up with everything else.

Very good information, thanks. Actually I was initially wearing the bra on the loosest hook but then tried the tightest it didn't really work. I think it's on the tightest in this picture.
I've done some research and I've decided that the stretch lace is too unsupportive for me like everyone said. I was reading Herroom's article about breast shape and notice that they said pendulous breasts like mine (which suffered from years of the wrong size and no support and became thus) should stay away from full stretch lace cups. Then I read their page http://www.herroom.com/breast-shape,336,30.html on my breast shape "omega shaped breasts" and it certainly explained the gaping and my discomfort. It simply isn't supportive enough for my breast shape. My most supportive bra right now is actually a 34K elomi caitlyn with side support. Not what I want exactly in shape or looks but very supportive. I find myself doing that size up just to get rid of quad boob thing at the expense of comfort but it's better than my last 10 years of no support.
I was very much looking at EM for their S styles and their Km nursing bra (using a 34 elomi soft cup atm - not the best look) but the depth is an inch less than my UK K cups in their KK cups. I have been trying to understand how narrow underwires allow cups to be shallower but I can't wrap my head around it?

As long as your root is narrower than the cups you're trying (which I'm thinking is probable as most people find wires to be too wide), the narrower wires are getting rid of the empty space at the sides. So, the depth your boobs are actually taking in the cup is similar, but you'll find you're better supported.
I've had a bra with 41cm depth which was too shallow for me (owing to incredibly poor cup design), and on the flip side, can fit in a bra with about 34-35cm depth if the wires are the right width for my breasts. It's utterly useless having extra cup depth if you have no breast tissue there or the apex of the bra is in the wrong place. When we fit breasts into bras, it's not like pouring custard into a container, but more like trying to store an orange. The custard will just confirm to whatever shape the container is, but the orange may not fit even if the container has the correct volume, as it holds its own shape. Even breasts which aren't very firm are limited by the shape of your root, so they'll only be able to be spread in an area which is as wide and tall as your root is.
I tried out a Caitlin (my first Elomi) yesterday, and I'm planning to write about it, as it's been an interesting experience. I can't get my hopes up too much until I have the band situation sorted out, but I know I've said I'd wear a bra even if I hated how it looked if it was comfortable, and I think this could be it. This says to me that as unappealing as it is, there's actually a market for full-cup bras in large cup sizes even in the smaller bands, despite no suitable ones existing.

Super informative, Thank you,! I will try a 70KK in the styles I mentioned then and go from there. I highly recommend the Captain for comfort and support. Even though it doesn't better with narrower wires and a smaller back it's still supportive and comfortable. Must be the superior cup construction you spoke of.
I think it's worth altering and keeping for me but the Envy is not because it makes me feel like I am back at Victoria's secret in a 38DD while I should have been in an G at the time.
I am also trying more styles (the Izzy because I am short waisted and perhaps the Rita because it is a multiway) in elomi despite the wide wires and the back starting in 34 because of the Caitlyn.
I think most women would love something pretty and sexy but in the end comfort and support will win out and at least elomi is trying not to make it look too bad. Thanks again for the information.

The harmony is ridiculously shallow. While the size range is good, I don't know if the shape will be a good match.
