Issue resolved
I can see that this is not the right shape bra for me, and have received some great suggestions for better options.
Original problem
This bra seems to fit well besides the wide straps and empty space at the top of the cups. But I am new to fitting, so I'm not sure if it's sizing or just the shape of the braI think, based on my measurements, that I should be wearing a UK34FF / US 34H but I ordered up because of reviews saying these bras ran small in cup and band. Maybe I should have ordered 36F?
I have some migrated tissue near my armpits so there is less of a gap at the side, and I like that the cups encase this, but the straps are laying right on the armpit crease, almost the front of my arm. If they were even a quarter inch closer it would be comfortable. Also I think the gore is too high for me as the wires come up onto my breasts in the center (common problem for me). Wire width seems good as well as the wire height in the armpit- I have wide root, bottom heavy (I think), close set breasts.
I'm in the US and have been wearing a Victoria's Secret 38 C/D for a long time. Recently bought some Victoria's Secret Body by Victoria Full Coverage in 36DDD but after a few months I've realized they don't fit properly either, armpit boob, boobs spill out the center/ wire pokes tissue, cups slip down during the day/ wires dig into my ribs at the bottom of the cup, and I'm already on the smallest hook.
Any bra style suggestions would be great. I'm trying to start out cheap 'til I figure out my proper size, but I'm also going crazy wearing these 36DDDs.

helpfulI'm no expert, but it appears to me that you have center fullness or full-on-bottom boobs. Those of us with that shape generally have no success with half cups like this style, as we "puddle" into the cup. I'd recommend a cup with stretch lace as the upper part of the cup. Since you are quite close set, I'd recommend...oh wait...I'm searching for the bra that works for close set too and haven't found it!
The cup depth mushes your tissue to the sides since you measure at 12 and the bra at 10.3 So, you should probably look at something that has medium/narrow cups and more projection--somethig that measures 11.5ish in the depth for starters. For me that means Fantasie (but only some models, and none have been perfect for me).
For someone with a tight measurement of 32 ribcage, I'd suggest aiming for 32 or 34, not 36 (although some bras probably are quite firm...) Freya 32, Fantasie because they run a bit larger in general, but no idea on Parfait, sorry.

I have definitely been Ebay shopping for good deals! And I've been attempting Nordstrom Rack, but it's very hit or miss on sizes since it's last season's bras. Always exciting to hear about sites with free shipping!!
I'm really attracted to Panache bras, and Elomi has some beautiful ones as well. I'm happy to hear they might be a good idea for me. Thanks so much for the recommendations!! And now that i have all my measurements I can explore the Bratabase more and see which bras will be a good bet (this one was recommended for close-set, but I didn't realize how detailed the measurements were).
I have another question: do you think plunge bras would be good or bad for me? They seem appealing because of the shorter gore, but would I just fall out the middle? Does that just happen in the plunge bras I have because they are not the right size?

There are some women who will struggle with plunges, usually those with very soft breasts or very centre-full breasts. Having a loose band and too-small cup would be enough for anyone to fall out of the plunge though. ;)
Most people can get a plunge to work on them if it's a good size and shape, and it's a solution to gores being too wide/tall. I'm drawing a blank on what plunge would work well in your size range for bottom-heavy breasts, but I'm sure that someone else will be able to suggest something to try.

helpfulSimply put, this style looks too shallow for you. You need more projection at the center. I think that you'll get different problems when you size down. Your breasts actually look ridiculously similar to mine. I have found that the Charlotte works better for me, as well as Freya (Deco, Lauren, Half Cups, their unpadded stuff, you name it). I have a Comexim on the way, so I'll let you know on that.

I'd agree with the fit suggestion, and would just like to chime in that Cleo Lucy is inexpensive, reasonably deep and narrow in this size range and also closed on top and thus friendly for bottom-heavy breasts. You can nearly always get discontinued colours for cheap on Ebay. :) If you wanted to try one out, I'm thinking maybe a 34FF would be a good place to start. Being unbanded does mean that the gore will be rather wide, but also easy to take in if that's the only drawback to the bra and you like the rest of the fit.
Also as a money-saving hint, Nordstroms does free shipping and returns within the US, so if you can afford to, you can stock up with a few bras in different sizes/styles, try them on, and send back any which aren't right.
