Bra fitting help » bigger cup, band, or wrong shape/style?
Chantelle » C Chic 3 Part Cup Bra (3582) » 70H 32:8
Issue resolved
Ok, I'm going to try an extender with this one. Also, i did have the band pulled down too far.
Still working out what the proper size for me is overall. Prior to this week, i was wearing 34ddd and the band was waaay too big. Some basic measuring led me to start off with trying everything from 32FF to H, but there wasn't a lot in stick at nordstrom rack the day i went in yo try things on. Thanks for all the tips--I'll use them all next time!
Original problem
The upper portion of the gore digs in painfully and the band seemed to feel tighter throughout the day. Would a different size work? Or is this just not a style i can wear?

helpfulI second Blur 's suggestion of trying this bra with an extender. I've personally found that Chantelles work better, both shape and comfort-wise, when the band is a tad looser, but that may, of course, not apply to everyone. For what it's worth, in their current form these cups look a bit too shallow for you, but an extender might help with that as it will release some of the tension on the wires which may free up some space in the bottom of the cups. Also be sure not to pull the band too low in the back. The cups look somewhat tilted on you, which may explain the digging gore as well as the tight cup edge and some of the shallowness in the bottom of the cups. When you put the bra on, try to pull the wires as vertical and close to your breast roots as possible. If this means the band seems to end up sitting a little higher in the back then that is perfectly fine.

helpfulI think 3 part cups can still be a great choice for you, even in Chantelle, but maybe not this particular bra. If you love this style, you can always try a 70G instead though it might not be wide enough for you in the cups--the underwire looks like an OK fit for you horizontally.
I have a C Chic Plunge in the same size and it's not working that well for me, but it is absolutely lower in the center with a shorter gore. This might also help--you could always try it and see.
Chantelle typically has narrower gores and narrower, more U shaped wires but some of their models are not as extreme as others. The brand is carried in Nordstrom stores in most places, and often up to H cup, so an in-person trip might be helpful if you want to compare underwire and gore dimensions of different models side by side.
If you do turn out to be a 70G rather than H, Chantelle does lower cut styles up to a G which might be comfortable for you since the wires won't come up as high in the center.

helpfulSo I think it points to any of the issues you've mentioned. Really helpful, right.
If the band feels good at first then I would guess the problem is likely in the wires. The gore digging in could mean the cup is too big, which would probably mean the band is too tight after all. Or the problem with the gore could be that it's too high/wide/shallow. Does it feel like the breasts are being pushed to the sides? It's possible the wires just need breaking in. That can be pretty gruesome if your skin is sensitive.
Have you tried it with an extender? I think that would give you a good clue regardless of what the issue is.
