Bra fitting help » Too big in the cup, too small in the band?
Panache » Tango Ii Balconnet Bra (3251) » 32HH 32:12
Issue resolved
Decided to return the bras and try other sizes/models.
Original problem
Since my old 32H - Panache » Tango Ii Balconette (3251)s have started quadboobing a bit, and feel too "flat" in the cup, I decided to try 32HH.
The top half of the cup wrinkles quite a bit. Since the cup is fullish, that could be expected. But the peak of the cup seems to be empty too and it wrinkles. And looking at the photos, the profile is pointier than what I'm used to.
The cup comes higher in the armpit than I'd prefer, and I'm worried it will chafe. This particular item also has a slightly wider gore, which bunches up a bit (the other 32HH one has the usual gore width and no such problem).
I think I could go up in band size too, maybe. I wear my old loosened 32 in band Tangos in the widest setting usually, and if the band's too tight it could maybe be why the cups feel too small too.
So basically what I want to know is:
1) should I keep this bra or
2) exchange for 34H or
3) exchange for 34GG?Or something else maybe?

helpfulI don't think it's too big, but the wrong shape. I don't actually see the wrinkling in the top of the cup; the wrinkles I see just look like the layers of fabric rubbing together. Empty space in the apex of the cup means it's too deep for you.
I would go ahead and try the 34H, especially since your comfortable rib measurement is almost 33". The 34H will be a little smaller in volume, and more shallow, than a 32HH, so it might be your best bet. The 34GG will be more shallow and smaller in volume than your 32H, so you might find it too small.

helpfulWhen the cup (and underwire) is too wide for you, you get wire wrapping round your ribcage, and it can make a band in the right size feel too tight. Thus I have a 32G Chantelle whose wires are too wide, and it feels like a vise on the front of my torso, whereas a 32F in a different style feels fine--even though they measure the same in band length both at rest and stretched. In these photos I notice that from the back, the band looks pretty much ok, whereas the picture from the front made me think "ouch!" again suggesting that the cup/underwire is a factor in how tight it feels, i.e. these wires are too wide for you in this cup size.
Since you also have issues with the height of it, in 34H the wires will still be just as wide and high. The gore isn't going to get any better either.
If you are really attached to this design, you do have a small chance of the 34GG addressing some of the issues. It's possible that the size issues you have in the 32H are simply due to some minor weight gain, and if the band is a bit too tight in a 32 this could be what's causing the overall tightness reflected in quadboobing and so on.
However, if I were you, I'd experiment with some different models instead. Something a little more forgiving of upper fullness.

Almost all Panache styles are too wide for me. Do you think you've recently gained cup depth? Or is it more an upper fullness thing? Your proportions may not work as well as they used to with the Panache shape--sometimes we "outgrow" a certain brand's typical design. Perhaps branch out to a different brand or at least one of the sub-lines e.g. Cleo?
Yeah, you're right about the wires being too wide. The front view is a bit deceiving because I've got some rib flare there, plus a little extra softness :D
I was thinking about going for another style too. Possibly Jasmine, but I'm having sizing trouble there too so it's not too easy...
