Bra fitting help » Bras for wide root, shallow breast
Wacoal » Basic Beauty Full Figure Seamless Underwire Bra (855192) » 32DD 32:5
Issue resolved
This type of bra is not right for me. I'm selling this and ordering different styles.
Original problem
This is my best fitting bra so far. I'm almost positive I'm have wide root, shallow breasts. I love how the wire comes up so high under my arms to contain all of my breast tissue. I think the band on the Wacoal 32DD is too big as I can fit my whole hand+ behind. It has a little gapping on the right side (my smaller side), but it is tight on the left. Do you think I should go down to a 30E? And is this a proper fit otherwise?
I'm trying to find other bras that fit. I need the wires that come up farther on the sides. I tried the 32DD Curvy Kate Emily balconette. The band was tighter, but the wires did not come up high enough (spillage) on the sides and dug in. The straps seemed to be too wide and there was gapping in the cups, especially on the right side.
Thanks for your help!

helpfulMost women in your size range (under E, i.e. moderately sized boobs) are proportionally wider and shallower than the bigger-boobed ones among us. So, compared to the total population of people with boobs, yes you might have "wide, shallow" breasts, but compared to women specifically in your cup size you have pretty average proportioned breasts. (This is just a note for future reference for when you are looking at bra reviews by people in your size range and wondering what will fit you.)
In terms of the band, this is a comfort issue that only you can decide! Seamless cup bras are usually made of "comfort" materials i.e. fabric with a lot of stretch, so this means you can stretch the band very long if you really pull it, but in its everyday position when the bra is being worn, it may still be a comfortable length and snugness level.
If it is riding up, or feels uncomfortable, or if you are feeling strain from the straps, that means this band is too loose. If you do NOT have any of these problems, a 32 is perfectly OK no matter how many body parts can be stuck under it. Looser bands are a serious problem for women in the upper cup size ranges with very large and heavy breasts, but in the D/DD/E range you can often still be quite comfortable in the looser of two bands. It also looks like you are quite lean around the torso/ribcage area so a 30 could be uncomfortable for you--muscle and bone don't like to be compressed, whereas fatty tissue is usually less sensitive.
In terms of cups: this looks like an adequate width but perhaps a little deep for you, especially since seamless cups don't really have any "lift" features to speak of. It's likely this won't affect comfort or support so it's still a good choice. However if you want more uplift in your other bras you may want to try seamed or padded/contoured models that are designed to be somewhat shallow in your size range. There are lists out there of brands and specific bra models that are known to be cut shallower--you could cross reference these with lists of bras that are cut higher to give you the side coverage you like.

helpfulI'm small, wide, and shallow as well. I think these cups look too deep for you. They look like they are shaped for narrow breasts.

helpfulI have the same bra in a 32D and it fits me the same way. I think you have a good fit. A smaller bra in that style may make the wires closer together making it uncomfortable on the sides for you. I also have wide root and shallow breast and this was the first and only "full busted" labeled bra that fit me and was excited about it.

What other bras work well for you?
-
Almost all Wacoal brand bras, especially the Finesse T-Shirt Bra. It is my favorite.
Also, Cleo Marice fits nice: I've tried almost all other Cleo's and this is the only one that fits that is unpadded, the Cleo Juna is padded and gives amazing lift.
Bali bras seems to be okay, as long as they are not the "full busted" ones.
Hope this helps, I know I had a hard time finding ones that fit and were in my hard to find size. -

helpfulSame issues here. I have had luck with Lilyette » Plunge Into Comfort Keyhole Minimizer (904) minimizers that have no cup seam. I look for stretchy cups and often a minimizer already has flattened cups. I also have a Huit mesh type underwire that fits nicely. Anything with foam is usually too moulded to a different shape. Also the Chantelle C magnific unlined looks promising.

helpfulThe cups look a little big for you. Just a bit.
Rather than Wacoal, why don't you try their b.tempted line? Or Fantasie Rebecca? b.tempted might not have wires that enclose enough of your side tissue, but Rebecca certainly would.
You do look wide set in relation to your ribcage, so I understand what you mean. The 32 Wacoal band does sound too big, so if you can try sizing down in Wacoal. If not, find bra lines whose 32s run tighter.
