Original problem
I tried this bra in the balconet version in the same size and it seamed a bit small so I thought I would give this one a try to see if maybe it was the shape that was wrong for me and not the size. I don't know exactly what the shape of my breasts are, I think I'm more of a full on top and slightly shallow type but not really sure.
I fill out the bottom. I noticed that a bit on the middle side there was a bit of space. Also, it makes my breasts look slightly pointy. The nipple does not go in the center of the cup it's actually a bit bellow it so it might be because I'm heavy on top?
The straps are a bit too wide for me.
If it helps I will list some bras I've tried(I have links to my fit requests in case you need more details):
-Cleo Juna 28E - Flattened out the breasts, gave slight quad-boob effect, center gore seemed a bit too high. http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dl984/
-Betsey Johnson Zipper Stripe Lightly Lined Demi 30DD- Space ate the bottom of the cups, flattens out breasts, cups too wide.

-Betsey Johnson Stocking Stripe Lightly Lined Demi Bra 30DD- Flattens out breasts, wide cups, wide straps
Parfait by Affinitas Bess Balconet 30D & 30DD- Quad-boob effect, I think if I go a size up in this one the straps might be too far apart for me

helpfulYes, that is a pretty wide cup. I have 32Gs that are the same width!
It does look good from the outside. The small amount of gaping is common in padded and contoured bras because they don't mold to your shape, and most people aren't EXACTLY the same shape as the bra cup in every respect.
How does it feel? While I agree you can probably continue to shop for a more perfect fit, this is a hundred times better than the too-small cups you were wearing before, which flattened you.

helpfulGo down a cup size and see how it fits! All of your signs point to too big cup. A smaller cup will make the straps closer together, probably make the cup narrower and will likely improve the gaping you get. Yes in padded styles, people often gap, but when paired with other fit problems that are typical of cups that are too big, sizing down in the cup isn't a bad option.

I could be confused between all the Affinitas fit checks but I thought one of her previous attempts with the Bess was already a 30D and it was too shallow, cutting in and flattening her.

ETA Also I would not call this a "pointy" shape. You've been wearing styles that really flatten the boobs, this is a normal shape and projection. You have breasts, they need to go somewhere ;-)
