Bra fitting help » Shape issue? Need tissue migration for it to work? Help?!
Curvy Kate » Emily Balcony Bra (CK5001) » 28HH 28:12
Issue resolved
Does not really work with my shape.
Original problem
My boobs seem farther apart than usual (in other bras).
The cups cut into my armpits.(Also I don't know if my measurements about my boobs are correct, and I am not sure about the shape of my breasts other than I am projected and even - Cleo lily is great on me. Right boob is slightly smaller than left. I usually wear 30GG but wanted to try a 28 band, and the 28H's I got were too small.)

helpfulhi, looking at photos it look a good fit cup wise, as the central gore between cups is sitting flat against your chest from what i can see(in the pic taken looking down at your bust), and also from the pics i can't see any breast tissue hanging over cup at front,( quad boob effect). However, if it is digging in breast tissue under armpits It may be just a style issue for you and may just be cut too high under arms.

Hi, I would not recommend that to be honest, i think if it is uncomfy under your armpits now that won't change by wearing it sadly, it is a pain when you find a bra you like! Are you scooping any breast tissue you have near arm pits into cup as you put it on? you look very slim and i can not see any under armpit bulges so I doubt this is an issue

helpfulThe band is just WAY too tight on you I think. It's 1/2 inch smaller than your tight measurement, that's no good in most cases--that's why it's deforming the wires, pulling everything back etc. Put on an extender and see if that doesn't fix most of these problems
Some people do wear bands that are smaller than their comfy measurement, but typically we are talking about people with one or both of the following anatomical traits: a) very heavy breasts that need an extra tight band to anchor the bra (I'm talking J or K cup) and/or b) a good bit of squishiness on the ribcage.

Hi, how far out can you pull the band? can you get 2 fingers under it comfortably? Obviously some band sizes vary and many of us vary between a 32 or say a 34 depending on brand

I can fit two fingers under the band and it feels fine, I think. I like tighter bands :)

Hi, in that case I don't think that the band is an issue. I haven't tried curvy kate bras , so don't know what they are like sizing wise. It is a pain(i hate bra shopping!) but I would try another style :)

A lot of people like the snug feeling of a tight band (or even a corset, that's why so many women wear them!) However, most bras are not made to be worn "as tight as possible as long as you're comfortable." They're meant to be worn JUST tight enough that they don't ride up. If the band is stretched harder than intended by the designer, the underwires are going to get pulled back, the cups will get pulled apart further than normal, the wires will hurt you on your sides, the cups will cut in and create quadboob, etc.
Even if you don't want to keep the bra, I would still advise you to try it with an extender and see if it addresses the fit issues you talk about, because if it doesn't get any better then you will know to cross this model off your list, whereas if it does fix the problems you'll know that this design (and its many Curvy Kate sister cuts) can indeed work for you.

helpfulI like tight bands.
In my experience, I found that if the bra was digging into my armpits like that it was because I was tightening the band too much because the cup was actually too deep for me, and I was tightening the band to lose the depth, but that caused it to cut into my armpits.
When I got bras that had less depth, I could still go with a tight band, but it didn't cut into my armpits.I just compared this bra with that Cleo Lily, http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhxei/
The cups on this bra are 1.5" wider each, so that makes sense why they are cutting into your armpits. So it would appear that this style doesn't work for your shape.Updated on July 25, 2014 Flag this
Thanks! That's kind of what I was thinking, too. Do you think if I wore it more I'd have tissue migration from my armpits, which would then fix this issue?
