Issue resolved
This bra is too loose in the band, and at least one cup size too small. I have bought my new bras in a size 32e.
Original problem
I am in absolute love with those gorgeous bra! What I have been wondering is if this bra is compatible with my breast shape.
I do have a feeling that the bra might be too small, but I have been trying very hard to figure out my breast shape so that I can purchase new bras.
In regards to the bra's fit I do have trouble with having empty space at the bottom of the bra (my fingers show where my breast tissue does not settle all the way into the cups). I think that the bra is too small in general. So I am thinking that I would like to keep this bra just for lounging in around the house, but I am curious to know if my breasts work well in soft cup bras.
Thank you.

helpfulI'm sure you could find a good fit in soft cup bras, but this doesn't look like a good fit, no. First, the band looks way too big on you -- it's riding up in the back. You should probably be trying on bras with 30 and 32 bands. I need a 34 most of the time, and my all of my measurements are at least a couple inches larger than yours.
I actually think the cups might be too small, but it's hard (for me) to see exactly what's going on in these pictures. You look like you're falling out a bit on top, so I'm wondering if the problem with not filling out the bottom is more because the bra doesn't have enough projection/depth for your boobs.
It's hard for me to judge from these pics, but I might start trying bras in the 30G-32FF range?
Edit: I see your measurements actually call for a DD cup. Hm... So I don't find the US/UK sizing systems equal when you translate them. I can wear a 34H (34FF UK) in a number of US brands, but I need at least a 34GG in UK brands. I think you may find that you can wear something like, say, the Wacoal Retro Chic (which is very projected) in 32DD or 32DDD, but you may need to go up a cup size or two in UK brands.
And with this particular bra... I don't think a DD will be big enough in the cup for you when you go down two band sizes.

Her tight ribcage measurement is 31; there is no way she needs a 30 band.

helpfulI would try a 32 band. Start with a 32DD, and then go up from there.

Ok then, thanks Saskia I will try that. I think that I will post the fit of my 32dd DKNY bra.

helpfulAs everyone else says, your band size is clearly not right. You can't judge the shape of a bra if it's this far from the correct size. You'd do better in a 34 band in this style (since it appears to run tight), and a 32 band in most other styles. Unfortunately, the picture quality isn't good enough for me to judge the cup fit, but if I had to guess, you'd be around 32DD or 32E (in this bra I'd try a 34D and a 34DD).
Are you scooping and swooping? I understand this is difficult in a too large band, but if you haven't, you should try it and see how the cup fits. If the fit doesn't change with scooping and swooping, I'd say try a 32D even or 34C in this particular style. If the fit does change, I stand by my previous size recommendations and in addition I'd recommend narrow styles like Freya and Curvy Kate (CK gets wider in larger sizes, but their unpadded styles in smaller sizes are quite narrow).

Jilisas I really need to find a way to make the pictures clearer and brighter on my webcam, I think that from now on I will use my small handheld camera to take pictures with. Ok then, I think that when the funds come I will just reorder the Gossard bra in a 34d or 34dd. And I think that I will give 32 bands another shot!
Yes I am scooping and swooping, and the pictures that I post show what the bra looks like after I scoop and swoop. I can try this bra in a 34c, when I have the funds.
I will give 32 bands a shot again.
And thank you for the recommendations of the Curvy Kate and Freya bras!

Yeah, I'd try 34C then, or 32Ds.

helpfulThis cup is at least one or two sizes too small, so when you go down in the band, take that into account and go up in the cup as well.

helpfulI could be wrong as its hard to tell from pictures but you don't look to be a 36. Your ribcage looks quite petite like maybe a 32 or 34 for comfort.

Thanks Ambie-Australia, I have been buying new bras in a size 32 band, and the level of comfort I receive is incredible. I really like my new bras so much (or at least the band sizes)!

Thank you KristinR. I can try a 32 and a 30 band, and I think that as long as I find the correct cup size, then the bands will feel fine. Ok then, so when I do buy this bra you recommend that I buy it in a 32e at least, or a 30f? Oh thank you for the recommendation, I can try the Wacoal Retro Chic bra in a 32dd and then a 32ddd, hopefully my local Macy's carries that bra in that size.
I really want to try taking my pictures from now on, with my video camera.
