Bra fitting help » Why does this make one breast look drastically different?

Issue resolved
I just decided I didn't like the way it fit me.
Original problem
Is it just the way I took the photo, or the way the bra fits me? I feel like (though the discrepancy between breasts is pretty dramatic anyway) the size difference looks extra obvious in this bra.
Also, if you look at the side shots, why is it that the underwire won't go all the way up in the channels? I feel like it indents weirdly into my sides because of that, and it feels uncomfortable and chafes.

helpfulThat weird dimpling close to the end of the underwire is a dead giveaway of an overly tight band. Try this with an extender and see what happens with the cups. It might suddenly work OK.

helpfulI agree with wendybien 's assessment of fit. Just so you know, it could be that one breast has a different shape than the other. Often this isn't noticeable on naked breasts but becomes obvious in a bra. For me personally, leftie has more projection and less top volume and rightie has more top volume but is shallower, so depending on the bra my right breast or my left breast could be quadding for different reasons. It took me forever to figure this out. It's subtle, but it's a big part of why I have trouble with a lot of bras.

helpfulWhen the band is too tight, it will pull the cups much tighter to your chest (causing quadboob) and will pull the cups farther back (can cause the wires to be too wide).
Some wires/bras are very flexible, some are not. This can also make a different in how it fits.
Based on all the information you have received, and what I had said, pick ONE to fix, say cup depth.
Also, buy an extender (if you don't have one) and try on your bras again. I found that if I scoop and swoop while laying down it makes the bra fit correctly (and usually too small). Go through each bra and see what is the actual issue. Is it that the too shallow cup depth and too small band causing the majority of the other fit issues?
I noticed from other photos of yours that it looks like the bras are sitting too low. It could be that the too small of cups are a cause of that.
Make sure you also take into consideration the wing and gore height when you are looking for depth and cup width.
If you like the feeling of a tighter band, look for ones that are more stable, less stretchy. You would get the support without the extra tightness.

Hmm, interesting. When I lay down on my back while wearing a bra, I get gapping and space in the end of the cups - my breasts fall to the side and want to rest under my armpits. Maybe I SHOULD try a cup down for that reason? Weird... I guess since I know my cup width and I GENERALLY know my band length, I should start fiddling around with cup size and depth to try to get one that fits. How does the wing height and the gore height come into play? I pretty much totally ignored those, past looking for bras with low gores since anything over 2.5 is iffy for me.

Sorry, I didn't mean to analyze what the bra was like laying down.

What I meant is to hook the bra together around your back. Lay on your back. Pull up the band to the proper spot. Tug on the gore and underwires to bring them up to the correct spot. Straps on. Scoop and swoop. Adjust straps. Scoop and swoop again.
I didn't think anyone was suggesting you go down a cup size. I think the general consensus was to up a cup size or at least a deeper cup (in general, not in reference to this bra).

OH, I see now. Swoop and scoop while laying down, then get UP and evaluate... oops... still haven't had my coffee today...

Someone in another thread suggested some of my fit issues were from too large cups and too small bands, I think! At least with the EMs.

About the wires and gore: they can change the fit of a bra.
A bra with a depth of 10", gore of 4" and wing of 4", will fit differently than a bra with the same depth, but a 1" gore.
You can also do a small alteration on gores that are too wide. It brings the cups closer, and opens up the top of the cup. Both issues you tend to have.

Will do! :) That makes me happy because I do think this is a really pretty bra. I think maybe I should invest in an asymmetry pad too. I have to say again, thank you so much for taking the time to be so helpful. You and all the other girls commenting makes me feel much less overwhelmed with this whole process!
