Bra fitting help » Underwire Pokes Armpit

Issue resolved
This beauty is just plain too big for me. Not a lot I can do about it unfortunately
Original problem
This bra is great, and the closest I've come to a proper fit, but the silly thing pokes my armpit and makes it chafe. What does this mean?

helpfulIt means exactly what the fit questionnaire says... the wire goes up too far under your arm and pokes you!
One thing I notice is that this band is quite loose on you, and is longer than what I'd expect to fit (it stretches to 40", I would think you could be comfortable with a band that is 38" or even 36"). When a band is very loose everything moves up and down a lot more as the bra isn't firmly anchored to your body in one place, so this friction could be causing, or at least aggravating the pain under your arm. If you were to pin the band shorter it might suddenly improve the wire issue.

Well to be honest I can't really tell what is going on in there--it's hard with foam cups! It does appear they might be a little large, so you could try 85G, but I'm really not confident in that assessment... rely on how it feels and if you can feel some space at the side or bottom of the cup, or if there is less lift than you would expect. (If you need to tighten straps a lot to get good uplift then the cups are too big, in many cases.)

I agree with wendybien . If the band is too big then the bra is moving up. When I first saw your pictures, my first thought was pull the bra down, it's too high up on you. And then I saw wendybien say that the band is too big and I thought that's probably why the band/bra is moving up on you. Other than that issue, I think this bra is beautiful on you. I just looked at your measurements and this band is like 2 sizes too big. ? wow.

helpfulEMs usually have shorter underwires so I'm sort of surprised...I'm trying to think of what bras I have tried that have shorter wires,I usually find wires to be too short for me.I have two Freyas,a Patsy half-cup and a deco, and find the wires are the most soft of all I've tried, maybe a softer wire would help?
Usually people with shorter torsos have the wire poking problem.
If you were to try another EM you should probably try a 38GG.Updated on September 7, 2014 Flag this
Thanks! I was wondering if it had anything to do with the band being a bit big (and if I was right in concluding that the band was big at all). Would you say I should sister size down, or go with the same cup size and a band size down?
