Issue resolved
Mismatch in shape, I will try to do a reversible sewing job on it to make it wearable.
Original problem
Okay. So I got this bra in the mail today, put it on and loved it! I wore it for 3-4 hours before deciding that I should add photos and really look at the fit. That's when I noticed this weird cutting in on one side. My smaller side for that matter. As you can see from the photos, it doesn't happen on the other side, which is larger. I'm wondering if this is normal? I tried on the three unlined bras that I have and one of them did this on both sides, which I know has happened with previous unlined bras of mine, and the other two had no problems on either side. Is this possibly a bra defect? I measured both cups when I measured the bra and the depths were the same... Just wondering if I'm missing something and how likely it is for this issue to be noticable or painful (I reallllly love this bra and want it to work).

helpfulNo, not a defect at all! This actually happens when there is more fabric than you need--i.e. that part of the bra cup is not under tension to keep it "filled" and smooth. The cup could be a little deep for you or it could just be a consequence of the shape of your breast root being somewhat at odds with the shape of the wire.
To me it looks like the cups may just be a little too wide or deep for you, but it could also be a shape mismatch. On some women the breast root has a more angled shape, even a sort of V shape in certain cases, and then you are pretty much guaranteed that no wire is really going to match that shape. If that is how you are shaped, if you do wear underwires you will often have to choose between a cup size that is big enough for the width you have at the top of the breasts (which will often leave a gap down near the inframammary crease) or a cup size that snugly fits at the bottom of your breast root but will be quite snug or even too small at the top of the breast.
Fortunately in your size range it's not going to cause any drastic loss of support such that it would affect the appearance of your bust in clothing, so the only worry is whether you feel supported and contained enough to be comfortable.

I'm not an expert in bra cup alterations at all, so you might want to research that a bit, but yes I think the fit is close enough to good that you could tweak this to make it work, especially if you love the bra. I see the cup has several vertical seams so you might even be able to take it in a tiny bit along the outermost seam and also a little along the outer end of the underwire. Check out all the posts under Bra alterations on here, there is a ton of useful tips out there. Good luck!

Hi !
I have exactly the same issue as you in my 30DD - Bravissimo » Tanzania Stripe (AU41) . I have done this alteration to my bra : http://seinsdusphinx.blogspot.fr/2013/08/retouche-pour-celles-qui-ont-besoin.html#more . I can't say the wrinkles have completely disappeared, but it is better than before (the shape, lift, cleavage and support are also better after alteration). But be careful, this alteration is not easy to do. Your idea sound less dangerous :D !
I think I get wrinkles on the side because my boobs are not round enough on the side, and/or because the straps are "too vertical" on my body, instead of doing a "curve". Here I try to explain more in details (but it is hard to explain, sorry ) : http://seinsdusphinx.blogspot.fr/2013/10/le-soutien-gorge-de-sirene.html#more . I think you can have the same problem as me. -
I get this same "pulling" in many bras of similar cut (e.g. Fauve and Bravissimo half cups, both padded and unpadded) and, yes, it always seems to be worse on the smaller side. I don't know exactly what causes it, but it does indeed seem to have to do something with breast "fullness", or rather a lack thereof on the respective side, in combination with the way these cups are constructed: the folds always seem to run from the point where the strap connects to cup. Apart from the alterations already suggested I can't offer any solutions or recommendations for alternatives as I still haven't found any myself ...

Yeah, it's too bad. I love this bra but I'm scared of altering it. Hopefully I'll be able to sell this to someone who won't have this issue... If not, I'll try to alter it somehow.
That makes so much sense! With how my tissue is shaped you could draw an X on my chest and you could see that I only have tissue on the sides of the X.
What it sounds like is that if I loosen the strap and pin the top of the cup closed more the shape might work better?
