Issue resolved
fit isn't terrible; my roots are too tall/not projected enough
Original problem
I always thought I was closer to FoB than to even, but I have a Cleo Marcie (normally good for FoT breasts) in 28E that fits me perfectly, so I "realized" I was even (as FoB and FoT bras generally fit equally well on even breasts). This bra should theoretically fit me very well, but there is a part at the top that it seems I cannot quite fill. For one of the pictures, I pulled one cup taut to show how I think it should sit, and you can see how it actually sits on the other breast.
Maybe the degree to which the fabric is shifting is a minimal issue, but I also had this problem in the Kelly from Parfait by Affinitas (which I attributed to lack of FoTness). The issue looked worse in real life than it does in pictures, I think.
I am starting to wonder now if my breasts are just doing weird things because of my cycle, as my Cleo Millie is fitting particularly badly today (though I rarely wear it as I was never able to fill it out all the way at any time of the month).
Any thoughts? I decided to post a fit check when I was having a crisis over my breast shape, but now I feel there is a good chance it may just be my breast size shrinking temporarily. I will try on my Marcie again right now and remeasure my bust.
edit: Marcie still fits perfectly; bust measurement seems to be basically the same, unless lost a half inch at most.
edit 2: maybe my roots are just a *smidge* too tall for the cup?

helpfulI don't think this should cause you to have a boob identity crisis! To me it looks like your root height and the slope of the upper breast just doesn't match the Lily cut.
FoB- and FoT-ness can be helpful concepts sometimes but I think they are deceptive for people searching for the right fit, insofar as these terms really don't give the whole picture in terms of shape. That is why I don't love to categorize bras as "good for" FoT or FoB because that gives folks a misleading level of certainty about how likely it is to fit their shape. In reality you can have 10 women who can be said to be "the same shape" i.e. they can all be full on top or they can all be full on bottom... but they will all have different root heights, different degrees of fullness at different heights along that root, different projection, and different slopes for the top of the breast. So if you try to put one of these bras that have the "good for FoB" or "good for FoT" reputation on all 10 women, probably only 3 or 4 of them will find that bra a good fit, because the other factors are so important too.

helpfulThere's always the option of taking the cups in if it really bothers you and fit well otherwise. But as someone pointed out, if you have sizechanges due to your cycle it can be a good thing with a little extra space.
Oh my god those colours are gorgeous to your skin tone!

helpfulI get this fit issue in my Lily as well -- sometimes on my larger breast, pretty much always on the smaller. Lily is good for an even shape, yes, but my understanding is that it also expects a more projected shape than either the Lucy or Marcie do. Could be that you have an even shape and are just that smidge shallower than Lily is cut to ideally cater for.
But I don't think it's a bad fit on you at all, unless the wrinkling shows through clothes and/or bothers you. A little extra space for increased upper fullness is never a bad thing in that it allows for shark week changes. I love Lily for fitting me all month long without needing to even think about it.

Yeah I definitely will keep this bra, but the wrinkling was just a tad bit frustrating to my aesthetics, hah! And I agree that I might just be a tad shallow or I think my roots might be a smidge too tall. Thanks!

helpfulIt seems to me that this bra needs more center fullness, and you are more full at the sides. I had the same issue with such styles, they have a little space at the sides to pull breasts to the center and thus too much space in the center part so the lower part of the bra was way too small for me and upper part was too big. Styles like that have a better fit on big, especially soft breasts.

Very good points; thanks so much!!
And I do think you're right about the slope and particularly the root height. Thanks!
