Panache » Loretta Plunge (6686) » 34F 34:7
I like the cup width on this one, and it's some of the least armpit/upper back fat that I've noticed in a bra. That's where my praises end. It is a little tall, and the upper cup(behind the straps) digs into my armpit. And the inner cups... I'm not busting out of this bra, per se, but it's clear that the cups are badly cutting into and misshaping my breast tissue. It was also tighter than I anticipated, considering this is supposed to be a 34 band.

helpfulThis bra is a shape mismatch for you in any size; give up on it

it's not you, it's the bra! Panache makes some great bras and some real...not great ones. So it's not that you shouldn't wear panache, or plunges, or anything like that...just that this isn't for you and i've never seen it fit anyone well.
The upper panel is pushing you down, while you have too much cup on the sides and it is too tall...as wendybien said it might get a little better in another size, but i just don't think it's worth it.
the freya gem looks MUCH better on you! stay in this size range -- don't go too far into cups that are too big or bands that are very tight looking for a better fit.
as for what to look for -- what are you looking for in a bra? what's your price range?

helpfulAs it is right now, it looks like it does not have sufficient depth or center coverage for your shape. If you want to be very thorough in giving it a chance you can try with an extender, because sometimes a band that's a hair too short can throw off the fit in the cups to a surprising extent. However, if that doesn't work, I agree with melifish you are probably best off looking at different shapes.

I tried that. Still looks horrible.
I have no idea where to go from here. I can't fill out (or at least continue to fill out) bras like the Cleo Melissa, which are narrower and less projected than this; even if they do give me some semblance of cleavage, my breasts still force the band downward over time. Do I just have really soft tissue or something?
-
No there is nothing wrong with your tissue or your shape!!! It's just difficult in your size range to find bras that accommodate a lot of projection, without going into the Polish bras, Empreinte etc. Cleo is not that easy a fit IMO. Their popularity is down to the signature "high and round" shape and their cute designs, NOT because they fit everyone. Heaven knows they don't fit me!
If you are in the US and can get to Nordstrom'sa would try unlined Chantelle designs, especially the ones that have a narrower and deeper fit like Cachemire, Rive Gauche, Mutine and so on. If you are in the UK perhaps Bravissimo, Debenhams etc.
-
I wasn't really knocking my breasts, just wondering if that's why fitting is so hard. I do feel better, though, knowing that Cleo is more for a specific breast shape; I've had so much frustration with that brand. I don't live near a Nordstrom, but there is a nice bra boutique in town. Thanks. :)

I know you weren't really hatin' on your boobs, I just meant that these fit issues aren't anything unusual :-)
You may also have some luck with individual Wacoal or Fantasie designs. Be forewarned that in some boutiques the fitters can come across a little bossy (I've read heartbreaking stories here from posters saying "she wouldn't LET me try on xyz...") so just remember to be assertive if there is stuff you want to try on. At the end of the day they do want to sell you something!

I do have one question, which is perhaps mildly related. How is it possible to be both east-west and center-heavy? Or is this not what I am experiencing?
-
I don't know if you are naturally east-west, but you can indeed be both. Having a splayed "orientation" doesn't prevent you from having a lot of volume on the inner quadrant of the breasts.
-
I think you can often be east-west BECAUSE you are centre heavy - the inner fullness pushes the breasts out without a bra.

helpfulIt looks too wide for you. I think Panache bras bands run small or true to size.
I think the reason it feels too tight is because the cups are too small.
Also I agree with the suggestion that this shape isn't good for you.
You need a more centered and supporting bra.Updated on December 8, 2014 Flag this

helpfulI wonder if you would love Freya Deco's shape. It accommodates a full-on-top shape really nicely and I think you look full-on-top. I think that because I see the top of your breast is trying to be round when it's pushed up, even though the bra is trying to make it flat. Freya Deco won't do that - no digging in on top - very round on top! See an example:

What is wrong with the shape? Is there another style that you'd recommend I look for instead?
