Bra fitting help » Bra too big, wrong shape, or both?
Ewa Michalak » Hp Cielus (190) » 70F 32:7
Issue resolved
Looking forward to giving EM another try but ended up using the shape and band suggestions and found my best fit yet.
Original problem
As expected the band is a little big but I can't quite figure out what is wrong with the cups. They seem too big and there's wrinkling on the sides but otherwise they are comfortable and the rest of them seemed to be filled with minimal gapping on my larger side (much more noticeable on the smaller). Should I size down in the band and cup or do I need a different shape? I've been having a lot of trouble figuring out what I should look for in a bra.

helpfulSizing down in the band AND cup will result in sizing down two cups. I'd recommend trying the 65F, It seems like you're full on top, which means that half cups should work well for you, theoretically. Do you have access to a 65F in this model? I think it might work beautifully.
(I have similar ribcage measurements to yours and always wear 65 bands in EM)Updated on October 22, 2014 Flag this

Glassfrog EM's recent models all run tighter than the older ones (like the HP Cielus), so a 65F will probably be too tight. It's a good idea to check Bratabase first for actual measurements!
I have similar measurements to yours (mine are slightly smaller) and I wear a 70 in Ewas recent models. Once tried a 65, but it was really uncomfortable, even with an extender.

I'll have to keep that in mind, I think I need to update my underbust measurements again since I seem to be losing mass there. I used to be a solid 30 band but I'm finding myself between 30 and 28 a lot more now so I'm not sure exactly what measurements I'm looking for now

I think that the bands on EM are more specifically model-dependent rather than an issue of recent/previous tendencies.
For example, I just tried both PL Slowianky and CHP Owoce Lesne in 65, and the Slowianky (which is an older model than the Owoce) was so tight it felt like 60 while the Owoce Lesne itself was so ridiculously loose. So it's not the most consistent company in the world regarding bands, but I still find the 65 to be the best guess always. Definitely if you're on the smaller end of the 65. -
Glassfrog Ewa uses a measurement system that's different from the UK one. Your tight underbust in cm (!not inches!) = your EU band size. So, if your comfortable ribcage measurement is 71.1cm, you're in a 70 band according to her system. (With a few exceptions of bras with bands running larger, that's why I suggested to look up the actual bra measurements on Bratabase before ordering.)

helpfulI think that the cups look fairly good to be honest. I think that a 65F will solve most of the issues that you see in this model. You might be able to try a Rixie Clip to shorten the band a little so that you could check the cup shape.
It looks like it gives you a decent shape though. You should always fit the bigger boob and then worry about the smaller one after - it can be annoying, but everyone has the same struggle!

Thanks! I think part of the problem is that I'm so used to wearing molded bras that any wrinkling makes me thing it doesn't fit. I am very happy with the shape it gives me so I'm going to look into a rixie clip/65F version,

Thanks! This is the first EM I've tried but I will definitely keep an eye out for 65F or order one.
