Bra fitting help » Quad-boob on one side. Size up?
Curvy Kate » Starlet Moulded Bra (CK2501) » 30F 30:7
Issue resolved
The bra is too shallow, and a larger size was also too shallow while being a worse fit overall. This is not the bra for me.
Original problem
I'm getting quad-boob only on one side. I can see how great the fit would be in an ideal world by looking at the smaller breast. I'm not sure yet if this will drive me crazy, and I can return it, so I'm indecisive. I'm concerned about sizing up a cup; too-wide cups can really change the fit. Does anyone have enough experience with CK Starlet to know if there is a noticeable jump in cup width between cup sizes? Bratabase thinks it's about a quarter-inch up, is that accurate? Anything else I should be concerned about?

helpfulHi I found it's an idea to fit the larger side when choosing bras, especially moulded cups. If the band is comfy on a 30 stick with that but if you feel it's loose, size down to a 28 and use an extender until it breaks in. The measurements bratabase provide are accurate so use these as a guide. Starlet is also stretchy in the band and has a wider, shallow cup. From experience, I would suggest going up at least one cup size to get the depth you need. I always go by the cup depth so from your measurements I'd suggest try a 30G to stop the quad boob and do a full scoop on the smaller side. You may need to tighten the strap on the smaller side too as a result. Hope this helps!

helpfulAJC2014 has some great comments, especially about your fuller side. I have had two Starlet bras myself and find the cups a wee bit shallow for my projection (about 12" long when bending over).
Your under-band and back look as if they fit very well including under your arms, I would not change that by very much! A moulded cup is always less forgiving to your actual shape than the softer styles, are your nipples well centered in the cups?Updated on August 6, 2014 Flag this

helpfulI also have uneven breasts and wear a 30 inch band. I find that it works best to size my bras to fit my larger breast. Otherwise, my larger breast gets squished and is uncomfortable. Of course, sometimes fitting the larger breast results in a small gap in the cup on the smaller side. I know some individuals find that using a seamed, unpadded cup works best in this situation. However, I find that moulded cups often do well at hiding the size difference because moulded cups are already shaped. Therefore, moulded cups don't bunch all over the way soft, unpadded cups might when one breast doesn't fill the cup completely. The size difference becomes less noticeable. That being said, it comes down to what works best for you, and trying on different styles is important. If you go the seamed cup route, some bras come with hidden elastic at the tops of their cups to better accommodate uneven breasts. Whether you use a moulded or seamed cup bra, shortening the strap on the smaller side can also help minimize any gaping that occurs. You can also consider placing a small pad in the cup on the smaller side to better fill it out and camouflage the size difference. Overall, the band of this bra seems to fit you well. I would suggest going up at least a cup size (I'm not familiar with this bra style in particular, so I can't comment on the difference between cup sizes). Good luck!

Ok, great. I've ordered it one cup size up and will compare. May go down in the band on this one too, that's a good point. Thanks!
