Bra fitting help » I'm not sure what's wrong? Cups dig into top of breasts. Size or style issue?
Le Mystere » Tisha (955) » 30D 30:4
The band fits like a 28 instead of a 30 which I like. Everything seems to be well fitting, and this is one of the 3 bras I've been happiest with, but the lip of the cups have always dug into my breast tissue a little bit, which isn't uncomfortable, and doesn't have much effect other than when I'm wearing certain shirts you can tell. But, I really love the support that this bra offers.
I just can't figure out why the cups do that. I've had this bra for a little over a month and have been happy but as time is going on it's becoming more and more apparent that it is ill fitting... so I would like opinions, is this a style issue? Or do I need a larger size?
Any other problems you guys can see?

helpfulIt's way too small! Look at the difference between the cup depth, and your laying breast perimeter... that is 1.5 to 2" difference. That's too small in relation to the volume of your breast. Try the 30DD if you like this particular bra; otherwise, I'd say look for any 28 band (or very small-running 30 band) with cup depth of at least 8".
When a bra is too big or too small it's not easy to judge whether the shape is good for you. Getting closer to the correct volume enables you to see if individual dimensions (height, depth, width etc.) of your breast are being properly accommodated by the design of the bra cup.

helpfulHi La Mystere,
To me it looks like it's a pretty good fit overall, but as you have said the top of the cup is digging slightly into your breast tissue / creating a slight quad-boob effect. Ideally, to remedy this you would get the exact same bra with slightly more depth in the cup. A larger cup size, with a slightly broader wire, will probably not negatively impact the wire fit, but will give you a little bit more space. If you try a cup size up, please let us know how it goes!
If that one then makes the cup too big, then you may just have a shape issue...

helpfulIt's way too small and possibly too shallow for you. Try sizing up about 2 cup sizes and check if the fit becomes better.
Also, it would be helpful to evaluate wire width in this bra. Do the wires of the 30D match your breast root? If so, sizing up is probably not a good idea since a larger cup size will have wider wires and these will become too wide for you.
In that case, try a different bra with more cup depth.Updated on September 26, 2015 Flag this
I would also like to add that, according to the measurements, it would seem somewhat tight in the band. A too tight band can distort the cup shape, i.e. make it appear shallower and the cup edge tighter than it really is. This doesn't have to be the case or a problem, but if at all possible, I would try this bra both in a band size up and in a variety of cup sizes to see if you can get a better fit :)
