Issue resolved
I think it's probably better to just let go of this one, as altering the bra up will probably have limited benefit for me.
Original problem
I have sadly resigned myself to the fact that I am never going to get anything which is going to be totally ready to wear, but I'm not sure whether it's going to be worth my while attempting alterations on this bra, or if I should just cut my losses and resell it.
As far as I can tell (and extra eyes are always welcome), the cups are too tall for me (especially the lower section), and not deep enough. I'd have contemplated going for a larger cup size, but this is the largest size in Kris Line's range at present, and I also feel that the cups would end up even taller on me.
I'm not too fussed on the downwards pointing shape and the fact that I spill into the middle, but the support is okay, and the wire width is excellent. Aside from tightening up the band a little (and possibly doing my longline alteration although I'm not sure if the band is long enough for that), I thought that I could possibly move the straps in and down a little, which would create more lift, but may also make the cups shallower. This would also render the bra virtually unsellable, and I'm not 100% sure whether it would help enough to make this bra worth keeping. Any thoughts or suggestions about this or possibly other bras to try would be very welcome.

helpfulTo be honest I wouldn't keep this bra. Thightening up the band would make the cups even smaller, I guess a quadboob-effect would occur.

helpfulI don't know if I'm much helpful here but I try. The bra looks really good from the side and the wires seem to be very narrow (as this is quite shocking in that size range). In my experience there is hardly any alternation that makes cups more roomy besides taking in the center gore, so doing alternations will most likely make the cups fit even smaller.
Since I struggle a lot with finding bras that fit me, my standards for bras are just very low. So if the bra is of any use (does the quadboob show under tops? I have bras that I quadboob in where it barely shows under t-shirts and in such cases I say that it's only quadboob if it's visible), will you wear it? Is it comfortable? (as in is it bearable to wear more than 1 hour)?
If you cannot imagine yourself wearing it, then I'd say rather sell it now that it is still “unaltered”. Just my two cents.I don't really have any good recommendations... I don't know if you ever considered Bravissimo? The wires are narrower than on Panache (although I am sure still wider than on this bra :/) and lower on the side and the cups are fairly deep. I had an idea lately for a bra experiment and as soon as I can get my hands on a cheap (since I'm going to alter it) 36K bra I will try it out. Panache wires used to work for me when I was at a 30JJ, so I thought about getting a Panache bra that has big enough cups (aka 36K ) and exchange wires with some old 30JJ wires, alter straps position and make the band shorter. I have no clue if that will work or end up in a huge mess but desperate times call for desperate measures...
Oh and I'm curious about your longline alternation. Did you post about it here?Updated on September 23, 2014 Flag this
Hmm... I think I'm probably going to be better off relisting the bra. Taking in the gore would help a tiny bit, but probably not enough.
The biggest reason why I haven't given Bravissimo stuff a go is the cost. It's about $70 Australian to get a bra delivered here, and then if it's no good, I have to either try and resell it or post it back, both of which can rapidly become really expensive for something which I can't wear. I have no issue with spending that money (or even a little more) on something which I think is wearable, but it's not ideal for trial and error. I also hear that most of their styles are pretty closed on top, and I know that closed on top balcony cuts don't work well on me. I feel like my Ebay senses are really poor as I never seem to be able to find these fabled cheap listings.
I need to take some more photos of the alteration to actually show a proper how-to. I tend to just go for it when I sew things and see whether the result is any good or not. I'm not 100% on how it would work on other people's bodies, but the couple of bras I've tried it on have definitely been more comfortable for me to wear. I could just post some pictures of the finished product I guess. :o
It's just so frustrating not having anything to wear which looks decent and feels comfortable.
