Bra fitting help » Cups gape due to strap placement

Issue resolved
Exchanging for a 28G and going from there. Fingers crossed!
Original problem
So the straps on the Flaunt are so freaking far apart that the cups gape whenever I move. At all. Because they are in my armpits. Would this issue be feasibly fixed by sizing down a cup or two?
I know the cups are too shallow/FOT for me because the orange-in-a-glass effect is pretty obvious. By itself, that doesn't make the bra not worth keeping (it's too pretty!), but both of these problems combined are making me reconsider. Is it worth exchanging?

helpfulI also own this bra...although it is in a 28DD. Yes, this bra is for moderately shallow breasts and FOT. I would definitely exchange it. If you are set on getting a moulded plunge bra, try the Desire or the Roxie. If you are okay with an unlined plunge bra, try the Daisy, the Dare, or the Firecracker.

helpfulI have had similar issue with straps too far apart in my Ewa Michalak bras. I have fixed the issue by moving straps closer, it worked. I ´m not going to give you advice about the size or fitting (because I´m in a hurry now), but just thought I´d mention this

helpfulSince the bras you added as "fitting" on your bra page is in the F-FF region, I would advise sizing down. 'M not an expert, but I think a too big cup might cause this as well.
Since you have quite a small band and the cups are big, they're bound to go further back than they're supposed to, which make them shallower than they were when you weren't' wearing them. This might not be because the cup is too big, but just because it's a big cup and small band.
However, given that your fitting bras have smaller cups, i'd go down two cup sizes if I were you. Or order both the ff and g to try and return those which doesn't fit.Updated on September 19, 2014 Flag this

Well, a 32F and a 30FF have the same cup volume and size as a 28G, so I didn't think it was that far off. I sized up to a GG because of reviews saying it ran small, but I will totally try a 28G. I feel like a 28FF might be too small, but maybe not.

Oh, sorry, I didn't notice that the band were not 28's... Maybe it's just not working with your shape?

helpfulFrom what I've been told previously, the wrinkles on the band also suggest that the band is too tight... ? Like someone else said, this would also make the wires wider and the cups shallower.

I usually wear 30s, but I sized down because reviews of the Wild and the Tempt Me (same cut) said the band was super stretchy. It doesn't feel too tight, but I am willing to exchange it. I wonder - do you think pulling the cups out also shifts the straps outward?

I would guess that it does. I think you'll find that sizing up in the band and down in the cup will move the straps out from underneath your arm pits and will move them closer together. If you have an extender, try using that and taking some pictures with the extender to see what the cups look like then.

helpfulI also have super-wide root and I would say going down in cup sizes will only make it worse. I woul try a bigger cup so your muscle will be in the cup (now the side of the cup is lying right on your muscle) so it will not gape when you move, but in other places such a size may be way too big for you. Curvy Kate bras are no good for shallow breasts.

... what I said earlier, IF you decide to keep the bra anyway. Of course, to get the best possible fit, another size or model might be good.
