Bra fitting help » What size should I be wearing in this bra?
Fantasie » Rebecca Spacer Moulded Bra (2024) » 30F 30:7
Issue resolved
Going to try a 30ff and a 32f.
Original problem
I really like this bra, however it's obviously too small for me. There's quadding at the top of the cup.
Should I size up in the cup only, or size up in the cup and the band?
Also, are there any other fit issues visible?

helpfulThe band looks a bit strained, you might do better in a 30FF with an extender or a 32F. It's hard to get the feeling of what the band feels like since I'm not you. I would do whichever one sounds like it will be the best combination of supportive and comfortable. If you are able you may also want to try a 32E because your too tight band is obviously warping your wires and could also be affecting your cup fit, though I'm not sure. It looks like you also might want to try a style with narrower wires like something by Cleo or unpadded Freya.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if the fit issues were due to a too tight band pulling on the wires or a too small cup causing spillage into the band. I'll try a 32E or an extender.

If I may add a humble suggestion... take your lying down perimeter measurement. I'm seeing a ton of fit requests lately from people who have not entered this measurement into the site which I presume means they haven't measured themselves lying down at all... IMHO this is the last one you want to skip! In those of us that are above a D cup and no longer 100% perky, other boob perimeter measurements are just not nearly as useful.
Here for example, we see a standing horizontal boob perimeter of 14", a bra cup that you measured at 9", and photos where all we can see is that something is slightly too small. Obviously 14>9 but beyond that basic observation we are powerless to suggest a better size or model because we don't know what your breast volume really is. When you know your lying down measurement, which is the closest you can get to how boobs behave when compressed in a bra, you can search for bras where the cup depth is very close to that number and thus ensure much more confidence in choosing sizes/models that will fit.

Thanks for the suggestion! I updated my measurement but they don't seem to be coming up on this page. Either way, my new horizontal perimeter is 12 inches, and my lying down measurement is 10 inches. That's still a bit bigger than the cup I got fitted into so maybe I'll try a 32F.

helpfulI'm going to say the opposite of the other suggestions. I'd recommend at least 30FF...which is still rather small compared to your BP, and the other perimeter numbers you mentioned in one of the comments.
First, the band looks fine. It's riding up slightly which is most likely due to the cups being too small, thus they are pulling the bra down in front and up in back. Apparently I'm the only one who noticed you have this closed on the middle set of eyes in picture #4! Going up a band size will cause you to need to use the smallest set of eyes...and a Rixie clip.
Second, the cups are too small. They're digging in along the top edge and the weight of your breasts are causing the cups to have a drooped appearance from the side, which is also giving the look of that straight line on the cup edges extending to the gore (pictures #3 and 5) which some can mistake for the cup being too big and the gore too high. It's not. The cups are being pulled down when they should be a little more angled. This is a full coverage style bra, and it's meant to give a natural, soft, rounded silhouette. Undersized cups also give the illusion of a band that is too small.
The underwires are a good width, they are not wrapping. If they were then you would notice empty fabric at the bottom of the cup and along the sides...you are quite obviously filling this out. If you were to size up they may or may not be too wide. The average cup width on this bra listed for 30F is 5.4", for 30FF it's 5.7". Not a huge difference but if you feel they're a good width for you now then they might be too big in the next cup up. Some of the comments are suggesting Rebecca has a narrow cup width, but I believe that is not entirely true. The wires on this bra are a little more flexible from my brief experience with it, therefore a little more accommodating, comfortable, and less rigid. Them stretching just a little bit as yours are is completely normal. When you have underwires extend past your breasts on the side and they're more than halfway past your underarm, or if you can see them from a back view, THEN your wires would be wrapping. Maybe I have better lighting on my laptop, but in picture #2 you can see the top of the wire is sitting just right outside of your tissue...there is the slightest bit of shadowing created when it's firmly anchored in. If the wires were too wide and resting way past the tissue you would not have this shadow because there would be a very flat appearance.
If you do decide to try a 30FF, try it on the loosest set of eyes and loosen the straps a little. You have the adjusters up a little high....or do you perhaps have a short upper torso? If that's the case then the Rebecca may be too tall overall in the correct cup, it has a very high cut to it.

helpfulSome points I want to bring up because I have this bra:
1. This is not what I'd consider a "molded" bra, even though it's called that. The cups are soft and malleable and even a little stretchable. It kind of feels like a thicker swimsuit material?
2. It looks like the cup height is good for you - you just need it to open up a little on top. I think if you went up a band (or possibly up a cup) there might be issues with size grading as far as the cup height.
3. If you go up band or cup, I think the gore might also be higher and from the pics, that might be on breast tissue.I'd probably agree with HLA on this one. If you were looking for a different size, I'd go one cup up.
Or... keep this size and loosen the straps and try to wear the band parallel to the floor. It might relieve the cutting in on top.
Depends a lot on how your ribcage is shaped though... If placing the band lower across your back would make things tighter, you might have to size up in band.

helpfulThe bra looks like a fairly decent fit. I would suggest a cup that is a bit more open at the top
Rather than looking for a cup size up.Updated on September 21, 2014 Flag this

Any suggestions for brands which are more open in the cup? I like my bras with high gores and moulded cups if possible.

Cleo Juna Balconnet Bra (6461) or Cleo Darcy Padded Balconette (6821)
n 30FF might be a good one to try. High gore and Molded with similiar measurements.Getting an extender would be very helpful in determining whether the cup is indeed too small or if the band is a tad too tight causing the cups to cut it.

Great thanks! I'll give those a try as well as the extender.

I agree with Jillsas. The wires on the Rebecca really aren't super wide--I think they are looking/fitting wider than they really are here because the overly tight band is tugging them out towards your back.
Before you start an exchange I would first put an extender on this one and see what happens to the cups. That will give you a better sense of how much of the cup tightness is due to cup volume as opposed to band length.
