Bra fitting help » Cup Runneth Over - Fixes and Size Scaling?
Parfait By Affinitas » Charlotte Padded Bra (6901) » 28GG 28:10
Issue resolved
I'm going to see how she fits after Xmas weight is gone, and if still no luck, I'll probably trade away and be sad. These cups feel as though they're too high in my armpit; a larger cup I feel isn't going to scale well and will lead to being further round my back.
Original problem
My cup runneth over!
I'm sure you can clearly see here that my boobs just don't quiiiite fit here. Right boob (boob the smaller) is not too bad, and if they were both the same size, I would just deal with the tiny quadboob and avoid clingy tops with this bra. However, left boob (boob the bigger) is clearly not behaving as intended, and is popping out.
The band is fine for me, I'm squishy so I have a bit of pudge out the side there, but I feel a 30 wouldn't give me the lift or support that I need/want.
I wonder if a 28H would drown little boob, or how the cups in the Charlotte scale with the band. The wires aren't wrapped round my back or anything, but any farther back and I fear that they would start to irritate me, and there would be empty space at the side.
When cupped in my hands, I would say my boobs are full on bottom, but very frequently they can show full on top tendencies, too. I have no idea.
Does anyone know how I could perhaps open the top of the cup slightly? I'm handy with a needle and thread, although I wouldn't do it to someone else's bra.
For the time being, I'm going to keep Charlotte, and hope that she works out for me once I've shed the remaining 2 or 3 kilos of Christmas weight, but if anyone knows about how the cups scale, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

helpfulCup depth is 2 inches smaller than your perimeter (though you only list 1 perimeter) so its clearly too small. Look here, on bratabase, at the 28H to see the depth there.
These Parfaits are, I believe, known to run small and shallow. Read other reviews on the main page.

helpfulIs the bra sitting at normal height i.e. wire properly placed in the inframammary fold? If it is, I think the cup may not be suited to the vertical distribution of fullness/projection that you naturally have. Losing 3kg could make a big difference in your overall breast volume (for me, weight loss and gain affect my bust size a great deal) but it may not change boob height enough to make this work.
If you look at sayitifyoumeanit 's blog (sorry I can't remember the name, Brastic Measures perhaps?) she has a tutorial on narrowing the gore in a way that can make a cup more open at the center. This might help enough to make a difference.

ETA: if you can find a 4 hook extender to buy yourself another inch or half inch of band length, making it less loose than a 30 but a bit less tight than currently, this may also help. I appreciate liking a snug band but your measurements do indicate you are a bit borderline for a smaller-running 28 like this one... it's likely it is pulling the cups "flatter" than they are designed to be, making them fit shallower than they ought to.

Yep, Brastic Measures. Charlotte is a bit of a special case for this, in that you probably want to remove the black strip between the cups, then narrow the gore, then sew the strip back down. I wish I'd done mine that way. Mine now has no strip between the cups.
Charlotte has a very wide gore to accomodate that black strip, probably, so the degree to which it will likely need to be narrowed will shorten the band, and possibly not insignificantly, in which case going up a band or using an extender might be necessary to compensate for the alteration. The narrower gore also does pull the wires out of the armpits a bit. That said, I like my Charlotte now that I've dealt with the gore, but I do wear it in a 34H though I'm usually a 32GG in most other brands.

helpfulBased on my experience with Charlotte and going from a GG cup to H, I would recommend sticking with your GG -- esp. if you plan on losing a couple lbs in the near future. I first tried her in a 32H. The cups on the H bra fit well enough, so long as I was standing completely straight; if I slouched over at all (and I slouch basically all day at my desk at work), I had massive gaping at the top -- and I'm even top heavy! Even bigger an issue that that, the straps threatened to saw my arms off. I couldn't wear it longer than a couple of hours before being in agony. However, after trying the 34GG, all of those problems disappeared. The cups fit perfectly, the straps weren't an issue, and I found it extremely comfy.

Yep they are. I really wish that Parfait would have something resembling a consistent size system.
