helpful"Orange in a Glass" does not describe a breast shape. It describes the state of affairs when the bra cup is too shallow for you. It looks like you've been trying on a lot of shallow designs, which is not helping (all the Freya longlines are shallow for instance). Try more traditional unlined 3 part cups, not half cup or padded designs with the telltale vertical seaming that indicates a shallow shape reverse-tapering up to an open top. Avoid contoured cups as well right now (unless you can find a wire-free one) because they run shallow also.
If you have gained a bit of weight, you need to take stock of how this has changed your breast shape as well as the size: typically when we gain body fat, this makes our breasts more projected (but root doesn't change much) so our boob proportions become more markedly narrow-and-deep.
You also want to get to grips with the actual cup volume you need. I very much agree with the Redditor who says there is no point trying to figure out shape incompatibilities with cups that are way too small! Look for something that matches your lying down perimeter in cup depth and seems to at least have some potential in terms of accommodating your underarm flesh, i.e. wires aren't super high on the sides.
I would also like to point out that in your size range there are some GREAT full cup and balconnet designs that are wire-free (Goddess, Elila and so on). I strongly believe that being free of pain and discomfort is the top priority in bra-fitting so if underwires are not working for you right now I would definitely advocate the nonwired route at least for one or two bras for daily wear.

I went to look at the Goddess and Elila bras and the all look like they will be way too high in the sides. The wing is 5.5 inches tall on the Goddess Rose and Elila Lace softcup, plus boning. Since I have a tall root and I'm short waisted I worry that it won't sit under my root and I'll still get stabbed in the arm.

OK wait, back up... Cup shape needs to be broken down according to its different measurable features. No, you don't want to be skimping on depth just in order to get a short enough wire--but hopefully you won't have to. Really the first step for you right now is to try and determine (ballpark) the wire width and length that you need. Otherwise we can recommend things but you will just be taking shots in the dark... trying on dozens of bras and you may still be uncomfortable.
For example let's start by looking at the case of the 34G Lucy--yes, the wires are too long and a mile too wide for you. But there are other issues that are muddying the waters: Cleos run super snug so I would never advocate a person with a tight measurement of 34.6" trying a Cleo 34 band ... (Wasn't it killing you?) When a band is too tight, it completely messes up the fit of everything else, and among other things it will make the cup seem smaller than it is and make gores and outer cups dig when they otherwise would not. If (BIG IF) you were to persist with the Lucy, I would not tell you to do a 34GG, I would tell you to do the opposite--go UP in the band and same, or smaller cup size.
But I would also tell you to look at the wire length on the Lucy overall and think whether it is even worth trying i.e. is it ever going to be low enough under the arm in any plausible size. If not, do a search by measurements see if you can't find another bra that just has shorter wires, period, while still having some of those Lucy-like attributes that presumably attracted you in the first place e.g. suitable for a breast shape that is not very tall, high set and petite torso, kind on underarms and so on.

You might check out the Elomi Bras on the "Abi frame." Right mow the ones out are Yolanda(formerly Eva) and Persia. The wires are shorter and the center gore is a mid height. The Yolanda is bandless.

I really want to but I'm nervous to commit. I'm looking for them on the swaps to try for cheaper.

I wasn't really trying to say it was a shape, just a problem. I have tried a Lucy in a 34g before and I didn't full the cup up top, and it made my underarms bleed. I have no interest in wireless bras. I have yet to find one that will sit under my root.

I tried this Lucy but the cup was too big. If I did a GG wouldn't it wrinkle at the top worse than it already does? (Besides trying to murder my armpit)
This part of the blog is what I have a problem with. I have no idea what cup really fits because I can't find a shape of cup that works.
