Issue resolved
Taking advice on new bra styles to try out
Original problem
I'm new to this site, so please excuse my rookie mistakes. Consequently, any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.
The problem...
I can make my boobs fit into this bra by pulling them outwards to sit in the cups and pushing the underwires up into the inframammary fold. The fit appears perfect then so long as I don't move.
Soon, these things happen...
[a] the underwire slides down ribcage
[b] bottom of cup folds underneath breast
[c] gore pulls away from chest
[d] quadboobI've had this same problem in nearly every bra I've owned since I can remember. I was wearing 34DDD and well aware that it wasn't a good fit for me before I realized I could find better sizes online. I now wear 32G (32:9) and while the fit is much better, the problems are still present.
My personal diagnosis...
* The cups I've tried aren't projected enough for my shape.
* The cups I've tried are too far apart.
* I tighten the straps too much.
* My boobs are pendulous and therefore need a lot of lift; I think they just naturally try to ooze out of bras back to their natural state.Preferences (that are probably causing my fit issues)...
* I like 'em high. I'm short and have a short torso. The higher they are, the more torso is visible, the better proportioned I feel.
* I like 'em tight. I don't like projection or jiggle, so I tighten the straps to add a little more support and to pull the girls in.
* I only wear moulded cups; I can't seem to find unlined cups that don't give me a weird shape, flattened out along some axis.Possible solutions...
* Balconette styles seem to allow gravity to keep the boobs in the cups and I tend to love the way they look.
* Currently, my solution is something of a reverse scoop and swoop; I've got to scoop outwards, pulling towards the armpit.

helpfulHey we are almost boob twins! I have almost exactly the same measurements, and very close set, projected boobS. So that means you will fit better in a UK 32h or 32hh. I would recommend going comexim and ewa Michalak. They give way higher lift and are made for boobs in front. In comexim I would try a 75k or 70K\70L In the ewa s models I'd try a 70J. You can spy on my bras that fit and measurements if you want. That bra looks terribly frustrating!!! I find freya just sad in our size. Curvy kate is way too wide. The fantasie 4510 is pretty good, but the polish bras seriously give the best lift. Feel free to message any questions as I have tried almost everything, I'm a bit obsessed, haha.

Excellent. I definitely will take you up on the offer to creepily stalk your boobs for awhile. Thank you kindly for all the tips. And I'm positive I'll find you for questions. I'll be something of an apprentice. Ha

dbmamaz so now I'm gonna look like a liar because I never tried those haha. The Marcie I almost bought soooo many times, but in the end I didn't think I had enough upper fullness to keep the top of the cup smooth. I was also not in love with Cleo's two hooks in the back. I think cleo gives great round shape but I don't think they are really great quality bras. The ones I tried I felt I needed to wear crazy tight in order to get enough support as the material was just not super strong. ThT being said, you can get them for pretty cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. As for the Floris, it looked like it would fit the same as the Panache super bra, maybe just different at the top. The super bra was a great, strong bra, it was cute and fun and gave amazing shape. My problems with it was that the wires were too firm, so it felt really uncomfortable. It's kind of a catch 22 because large breasts need firm wires to lift and tack but they are also uncomfortable. The gore was way too high and stabbed my sternum. Also I have a bit of flared ribs and the wires and fabric underneath were really firm and long which was terribly uncomfortable for me. I could see though that it was a great bra, just not for me. Oh and the wires were too wide on that one too.

No, I think you called it. The Marcie is flimsy but comfortable. The raspberry color I have - the fabric is horribly stretchy, to the point where the cups bulge above and below the seam across the middle of it.
The Floris is - someone said something about cast iron bras, and I think about that almost every time I put it on. I've finally gotten the wires bend to a somewhat rounded shape, and I can wear it all day now.
still, they both work fairly well for me because I need to have some space on top.
I'm dying to try an EW. I tried a Kris Line yesterday - the bands too small and I'm not sure I should keep it or not

helpfulIf you're reverse scooping it means that the bra's gore is too wide for you. There are bras out there where the gore is so narrow that the underwires overlap, like in this diagram: https://lingerieabstracts.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/overlapping-underwires.gif
As bra size, it's worth checking out bras in 32GG and 32H. Freya makes non-shallow bras in that size range. If you need a bra that is more projected than what Freya has to offer, try Comexim or Avocado.

Thank you, Saskia_C . I've never heard of overlapping underwires before. That bit of knowledge will be great help. And I appreciate the brand suggestions as well. I'll check them out.

helpfulJust have to point out that your smallest perimeter is 12 inches . . . the cup depth is 10.5. which means its way too small. So, before you worry about too wide or flat, you might want to try . . . correct size. G is definitely not it, at least in this brand. OTOH, I dont think there ARE molded cups that come that big.

Thank you, dbmamaz for pointing out the size discrepancy. I guess I still have a bit of a mental block because I can make these bras fit (temporarily) with a reverse scoop.
Also, perhaps the correct size bra will look just fine without moulded cups. I'm just starting my journey. :)

Its disconcerting, I know - the last bra I bought before a fitting (after decades of wearing unstructured bras) was a 36DDD. I was fitted in to a 34GG and now I'm wearing 32Js . . . they fit! No adjusting! Or, maybe once every 4 hours, which I think is fine.

helpfulPrevious posters are right. As I believe I mentioned on the review of the bra, you must look for cups that are both shaped right as well as sized right. Your boobs are full at the center of your torso (near the gore) so you need bras that have room here, not elsewhere. Curvy Kate make quality bras but in your size range virtually their entire product line tends to be wide, semi-shallow, and closed near the gore. Much more so when they are molded/contour cups. Generally speaking contoured or molded cups will be more of a problematic fit for people with your shape... it's harder to mold a single piece of foam or spacer material to a deep, narrow cup shape than to achieve that shape with seams. Try unpadded bras in these brands: Freya, Fantasie, Wacoal, Chantelle, or the Polish brands. If you feel like you cannot live without molded cups then go Polish or try the Freya Deco or Fantasie Rebecca.
Lift-wise and height-wise, stop tightening your straps--that's not what straps are for, so it masks fit problems temporarily, but will cause pain. If the cup and band fit you, you should be able to get the high, firmly supported shape with no problems.
Incindentally pendulousness has NOTHING to do with your fit issues... There are 15 year old girls with boobs you could bounce quarters off of who will get the exact same fit problems if they similarly wear bras that do not have room for their boobs at the center.
Second, after seeing your measurement chart, I must reiterate... you must take care not to go for bras that are just small. The numbers don't lie! With a 13" boob perimeter, you need a bra cup that is at least 12.5"... not a full 3 inches less. Use the Search By Measurements feature on this site to figure out which bras exist with your desired cup depth and band size, and then look at reviews and photos to see which ones have the right shape for you.

Thank you so very much. Your post is both helpful and encouraging and certainly contained a lot of things I needed to hear.
I've got a lot of bra searching and experimenting to do, and I am appreciative of you helping me get started.

You're most welcome! Some of us love giving bra advice almost as much as we love bras, so it's win-win :-D

I'm pleased!
I wonder though if I've measured something incorrectly somewhere along the way. I've got a couple of Curvy Kate Smoothies, one in 32G and one 32GG. The depth of the 32GG is 12 inches as I've measured, but it's so big for me that it puckers and gapes from all sides. The 32G has me spilling out the center (much like the one pictured in this fit request, but to a lesser degree).
Certainly this brand/bra is not the ideal cut/shape for me. It's going to be a long journey. :)

Well there are many reasons that a bra can pucker/gape/etc. so I don't want to go too far on a limb with various hypotheses, but you could probably garner valuable info from doing a fitting request for the Smoothie 32GG. The nonfit for that bra may be due to something else about your shape that could be really useful to know. This current fit thread that shows a bra that you're totally exploding out of obviously has limitations in terms of allowing people observe other features like root height and so on--because your breast tissue is being squeezed into a weird shape (obvs!)

Sweet idea. Thanks again! I'll have to do that.

Jailynne, curious how Floris and Marcie were for you? They seem to have been my best fits so far, 32J. Just tried a Kris Line today for the first time, but the band is too small . . .
