Issue resolved
Shape issue, more than size issue actually!
Original problem
I'm so lost these past days, after trying all the bras I currently wear I'm afraid that I may be needing to size up a cup size after all...
I love the fit of this Maddie, for example and I want to use it as an example when buying new bras, as for the measurements to look for...so does this look like it should be in a 28G?
Thanks a lot!
Also, I'm so puzzled I posted a huge rant at ABTF with all my bras listed... Feel free to help me out! http://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/comments/33b5ha/measurement_check_fit_check_too_small_cups_or_im/

helpfulI think this is a shape issue. You seem to have made a beeline for some of the shallowest cup designs around, so naturally those aren't an optimal fit (Neve, Maddie, Charlotte). These are especially recommended for girls so shallow that they can't get a decent fit in other bras! Clearly this ain't you--you are at least average projection. Sizing up will just cause other problems. The Lucy and the Porcelain seem to be quite an acceptable fit, so I'd keep those as long as they're comfortable.

This was my thoughts too. Going up a cup would not necessarily help because this is still a very shallow style, it looks like a deeper cup is needed.
-
Yes, that's right! The Lucy looks perfect on you, so I would use its measurements as a starting point for other bras you look at.
-
Well you look to have relatively average width, height and projection, and you are in a well-served size range so really there are hundreds of designs that will probably work well for you as long as you stay away from the more extreme shapes (extra shallow or extra deep cups). Cuts similar to Lucy are certainly a good place to start. One Cleo bra that seems to fit a variety of near-average shapes is the Marcie. Are you looking specifically for any given shape (plunge, balconnet, full cup, low coverage, high coverage) or construction (unlined, molded/padded, spacer, seamless)?
-
lcl0706 yeah, I'm gonna do that! The cup depth is bigger than the other bras, so I probably have to aim for bigger cup sizes in some models!
wendybien that's right, I don't think my breast are difficult to handle, I just need to know them better!
Well, I still lack a decent strapless bra, more t-shirt bras... I like my Lucy but I'm a sucker for moulded cups like the Porcelain Grace! I'm very curious to try Freya, any model you think would suit me better? Huge thanks!
-
The original Deco is known for being narrow & projected. The variations of it (honey, shape, charm, etc) I believe are cut a bit more shallow and wide. The deco strapless is very wide & shallow. But the original Deco might be good for you and is a good T shirt bra, and is molded cups.
-
lcl0706 thanks so much! Deco original that is! Gotta try it!

The Deco is a true plunge so if you are looking for other cuts e.g. balconnet or everyday t-shirt bra in a molded cup you can also try the Curvy Kate offerings (smoothie and there's another I can't think of right now) or if you tend to get a lot of quadding what with moldeds being shallower, the Fantasie Rebecca is a typical choice for those seeking a deeper molded cup design.

I was under the impression most CK bras are pretty wide and shallow. I don't know because I've never tried one. I have a Fantasie Rebecca-nouveau. I find it to run a touch big in the cups, I have a 30E I wear on the tightest hook, could do a 28F. It's very full coverage on me. YMMV. It's my narrowest and most projected bra that I consider a "fit." It definitely couldn't be any narrower for sure, I think it's probably around 5.4" wire width. Unfortunately the bands don't go smaller than 30" for it or the Rebecca. That may not work on you needing a 28" because I don't think my RN band is tight. It's an average 30 band. Too loose on me, technically.

lcl0706 CK has been working on their proportions and are now making their cups narrower overall, but they have always had a different fit for the smaller end of the size range. The wide/shallow problem occurred mainly in bands 32 and up. Even so, I'd say most of their 3 part cups, while obscenely wide in the 32+ range, were not that crazily shallow. So while I'd still not push CK on someone particularly narrow, for a person who is average boob width, it's worth a shot.
I have not tried Rebecca nouveau, but the original Rebecca does absolutely run big, so OP would want to try before she buys, or possibly size down... However that was sort of a last recourse suggestion for her, only if she cannot find enough depth in other moldeds. I actually believe she is likely to be OK in less deep designs.

wendybien I'm actually kinda bummed CK is going narrower, I really need wide wires and some of their intentionally supposed-to-be-sexy-but-not-really-practical stuff is adorable. I just haven't spent money on "bedroom bras" (yet) lol. I think the rebecca-nouveau is supposedly just a lower cut than the regular Rebecca? I personally see no difference between it and the standard Rebecca, from pictures. It's very full coverage on me. It's also only the 2nd bra in anything close to my actual size I ever bought, and the only E cup to ever fit me, so I bought it without really knowing what I need and I'd definitely say it runs big. It seriously toes the line on too narrow & deep but it's passable on days I need to give my others a rest. With OP's ribcage listed as an inch smaller than mine I do suspect the band would be too big though. Do any Fantasies come in 28 bands? It's a brand I haven't given a second glance.

Well regarding CK I'm guessing--not that I have any hard info, but just based on common sense--that the CKs you like (I assume you mean the low cut boudoir styles with vertical seams, Ritzy and so on) will remain wide. I don't think they can make that a lot narrower without completely redoing the design. 3 part cups are a different story. So you should be able to still fit those designs if you need wide cups :-)
I don't think Fantasie does 28 bands so yes if you need a true 28 or very firm 30, that could certainly be a problem.
-
I agree with that guess Wendy, stuff like the Tease Me and half/low cups will probably remain wide. Actually I've noticed they have about half of their new stuff up to a K cup and half up to a J cup. I would presume anything that doesn't go past J is actually going to be wider because they must have figured out that anything above that is going to need a different fit.
-
That makes sense xelestial . Good that they are figuring this stuff out, although it would be even better if they had more options beyond J!

helpfulYES one cup up should be perfect! Because you have slight orange in a glass and quading a bit.

plus i also like half cups to not quad at all and I allow my plunges to sometimes quad if i want the extra cleavage XD

helpfulYou could try sizing up 1-2 cups (honestly, telling from the pictures I don't think 1 cup will be enough). If you don't encounter strap/armpit issues, it will be fine.
By the way, the raspberry colored Maddie seems to run 1/2-1 cup sizes smaller than other Maddies. You may not need to size down in ALL your bras - just this one because it runs exceptionally small.

I tend to agree with this, but I haven't read your whole rant on ABTF yet. I don't think a 28G would be any better in the Maddie. I don't think it's too small for you as is, just a bit wide/shallow for you. The Lucy that fits you well is a narrower/more projected shape :)
