Issue resolved
Fuller cups work
Original problem
My main issue with this bra (and most of my other ones) is I'm having a hard time telling if it's too small or too big or what. Like the other bras I own, it gapes a little at the top, but it seems like at the actual seam of the cup, it's sort of quadding? This is a conundrum to me.
I feel like I have the same issue, to a much lesser extent, with my CK Princess, which has a way deeper and wider cup. You can kind of see it here http://i.imgur.com/Fz7cznf.jpg?1 or on my pictures of the CK Princess here on bratabase.
Some other people on my last fit request suggested that I might have tall but shallow roots, which I'm kind of starting to see :/ I think I might be FoB or even? I did the leaning over nipple placement test thing and my nipples were in the middle of my breast, pointing at the floor, so I dunno...
Is this a shape issue or a size issue or possibly a way-the-bra-is-made issue? Is it in my imagination?

helpfulI suspect it's a shape mismatch. Although the overall cup volume is more than large enough, there is not enough room for your projected shape at the bottom of the cup so the whole breast sits higher in it than what the designer intended, so that seam cuts right across the softest part of the boob (areola) instead of lying well above it as intended. If you were to size down, that wouldn't really help, because you'd have even less room at the bottom.
On the other hand, lengthening the band might help open up more depth? Is it snug or would additional band length cause riding up?

helpfulI have the same issue; I think it's a shape incompatibility. I would say the cup is large enough (and even too large, but not by a full cup), but it is not projected enough (or my tissue is too soft? But I'm not especially soft). In terms of breast characteristics, I am also even fullness with a lot of center fullness. I get the same sort of quad-boob situation at the middle seam-- unfortunately, I haven't found a way to fix it in the particular Cleo styles where I have that problem-- however, SOME Cleo balconetttes work fine on me.
I have this issue LESS or not at all in the following Cleo balconette styles:
Melissa (if you can find an old one-- the shape that made it not work for a lot of people eliminated this issue for me-- it was an awesome fit for my particular breasts)
Lily
MegIt's really bad for me in Marcie. It's better to have a more structured material on the top of these styles because it reduces the odd shape incompatibility. Overall I really like Cleo balconettes and they are the most compatible shape in Cleo for my body. Generally I find the style very comfortable and flattering. The quad-boob in the center of the cup ruins it for me, though, it looks really weird underneath my shirt. So I look for the ones that do work, and buy those.

I second the cleo options that do not give this quadding, and I would like to add the Minnie.

helpfulI think you need to buy bras that are fuller in the cup.
Might not look as sexy but I think they would fit you better.

helpfulHey I recognize this! I think at least. I had it too in some bras where the seam (where lower and upper part of the cup meet) hit my areolas. As the tissue of the areola tends to be soft and squishy, I get quadding there too. The solution would be to find a bra where the seam comes up higher and musses the areola. A more projected cup would indeed seem to be the answer.

I thought it looked too shallow, too, but isnt Millie fairly deep, like Marcie? OTOH, several other reviews of Millie mentioned loose fabric on top and in-cup quad (in-cup quad being my only quibble w Marcie, but quibble enough that I can only wear it with very thick sweaters or very loose blouses
