Bra fitting help » Quadboob or not? Should I keep it?
Parfait By Affinitas » Charlotte Padded Bra (6901) » 28FF 28:8
Issue resolved
It is too small in the cup indeed! Still haven't decided if I'm going to keep it for when my boobs are smaller or if I'm gonna sell it...hmmm
Original problem
This bra is sexy and super supportive, but I always found it a tad too small in the cups.
Do you think it causes quadboob or it's just how charlotte's cleavage should be?
Should I keep it? Should I go for 28G next time I order Parfait by Affinitas bras? Thanks!

helpfulYes, that's quadboob, in my opinion. Look at the depth of the cup compared to your horizontal perimeter. Some variance is one thing (my good fitting bras measure about half an inch to an inch smaller than my perimeter), but almost 2" seems like a lot to me. It also looks like the gore doesn't quite tack flat. I would try a 28G, or a 30FF - the band's measurements suggest it could be too tight on you as well. Does it feel comfortable?

myfashioninsider oooh, that's a shape mismatch more than a size mismatch. I would think too deep in the middle means the bra is too projected for you, not that it's necessarily the wrong size. If you fill out the bottom, top, and sides, but just can't fill out the middle of it, then it's too projected and you need a wider or shallower shape. If you fill out the bottom and sides but not the middle AND it gaps at the top while standing or sitting upright, then it's too big of a cup. If you don't fill out the bottom and/or push the bottom of the bra down with your breasts, pop out over the top edges, and get the "orange in a glass" effect, then it's too shallow. At least that's my experience. But so far in my adventure, "too wide" and "too shallow" don't exist, but "too narrow" and "too projected" definitely exists lol. Like, every freaking bra.
My lying-down-and-slightly-angled-to-the-side perimeter is 9.5" and I won't usually go over about 9.0 when looking at measurements for potential sizes to order. But I won't go less than 8.5." So far, that range has produced the most success for me, assuming the wires are wide enough.
I actually have this exact bra arriving tomorrow in a 30FF lol! Same color and everything! I measure 28.5" UB but read consistently the band runs tight and the measurements run tight, therefore I went with the 30 band. I'll have to let you know how it works out. I would say if the band is wearable on your 28, go ahead and stick with it because it should stretch, but go up a cup to a 28G and see how that feels. This is a popular bra, I'd think you should be able to re-sell this bra easily if you decide to try a different size.
Hope this long winded babble helped!

Thanks sooooo much!
I guess I'm still super confused about my shape :/ I used to think, because of the fitting problem I got with some bras that I couldn't wear moulded bras (lie, 30F Panache Porcelain Grace fits awesomely!) and that I somehow had shallow breast, but I've been looking down at ABTF and realized I'm actually supposed to be quite projected... What would you say, based on my Cleo fit? http://www.bratabase.com/bra/dlqrx/
This bra is super gorgeous, I'm sure you'll love it! Gotta check your profile! :)

I'm still kinda confused about my shape too. I know I need wide-ish wires, and I used to assume I was shallow, then I thought I was more FOB, then today in the shower I was like well, maybe I'm more of an even fullness.... lolol. I know my measurements are correct on my profile. I also know my Cleo Juna 28FF was too narrow and projected. So when I hunt around now, I use my Juna's measurements and try to aim a bit wider at the very least.
That Lucy you linked is perfect on you from the pictures. And from its measurements, you're narrower and more projected than I am. A 5.1" wire width does not work on me at all. The Lucy's 7.9" depth measurement kind of puzzles me, that seems awful small for a 28FF, and contradicts what I said in my first comment. My 28FF Juna measures 8.75" deep, but the 5.1" width of it forced my boobs way too forward and I quadded out the top of it due to the shape mismatch.
I've never checked out ABTF, that's "a bra that fits" right? A reddit thing?
Overall size/volume wise, we look about the same. Hey, your boobs look like MY boobs hahaha. Just in a different shape! You might like the Juna really!
I'm excited for tomorrow's delivery! *happy dance*

It's sooooo hard to figure the shape, gosh!
I think a 28G on Lucy wouldn't hurt, come to think about it! It's a shame I don't wear that bra more often!
Yeah, that's right! I've joined recently and I love to check it out!
I actually don't liked how Juna looked on me...brought in Maddie instead!
How was Charlotte??
-
I haven't gotten it yet!!! Ahhh! it's supposed to be delivered between 2 and 6. Going craaaazy! I want to try the Maddie too. Along with many others lol

myfashioninsider my Charlotte arrived, I posted my review as an adventure.

lcl0706 oh, btw, as for Cleo Lucy, it's cup depth is supposed to be above 9'', I am bloody awful with measurements, don't let my inability fool you! ;) Just wanted to rectify this!
-
Well don't feel bad, obviously I'm wicked terrible at measuring my own freaking body lol!! I always wonder if I'm doing the cup depth thing correctly.
-
I wonder the same, that's why I trust the other girls measurements better!

helpfulYup, looks like quad. Sometimes I have to put on a shirt to really tell if it is cleavage vs quad noon. Also, looks like the gore might be sitting on tissue. Is it comfy there?

Thanks! It's tight, so maybe a 30 would be that bad either!

Cleavage and quadboob are completely different concepts though! Cleavage = boobs sitting close to one another or touching. Quadboob = the edge of the cup makes an indent in the outline of your boob.
Just because the Victoria's Secret models typically have both going on at once does not mean they are similar phenomena. Like hair extensions and nose jobs, they often appear on the same people but they are two totally different things :-D
-
That's true, the push up bras have distorted the way many people think boobs should look like!

I'm always afraid that the bras are gonna be too deep for my breast in the middle (it happens at Evie strapless from Panache, for example, a gapping in the middle - like if you would poke the bra with a finger you wouldn't feel breast tissue immediately - even if the rest fits right), so I guess I tend to order bras with less depth in the cup than my measurements suggest. But I probably should just chill on that! ;)
As for the band, it's tight but not too uncomfortable, I guess a 30FF would work too!
