Bra fitting help » Too tight or too loose?

Issue resolved
The band is definitely too loose, but I love this bra enough that I am going to attempt to take in the band and see how it goes.
Original problem
I am confused as heck because this band almost feels like it is too loose and occasionally slides up my back, but when I look at it, it looks like it digs into my sides and back as though it is too tight! I also am wondering if the left cup is too big for my smaller breast.

helpfulIs this really 28.5" unstretched? That sounds like a mislabeled bra if it is new. Otherwise, it sounds like it's been worn a lot an permanently stretched out. I don't think you will be able to wear it. The loose/tight effect you are feeling is typical of a too-large band, it rides up to an awkward spot as the weight of the breasts drags down the front and creates bulges at both front and back.

I personally really like the color, so if you can take in bands without spending hours on it, I think it would be worth it :-)

I am going to give it a shot! :) Also after a little research I think my band fit issues come down to the fact that I have a front and side rib flare on both sides, which is frustrating because I feel like that means there are no fixes for it.

helpfulSo this bra is definitely too loose on you (moving around during the day is a dead giveaway), but the reason you're getting marks is that the band is of the physically shorter but very stretchy type. I have a few of those myself, and they tend to dig a bit at the elastic when they stretch. A way to avoid that is to look for styles where the stretched length is closer to the unstretched length. You should be aiming for a stretched length of no more than 33inches (at an absolute maximum). I think this bra is a a bit too open on top for you (when you see bras with stiff lacy top sections like this you may wish to stay away), but I would guess that it's the right size. Are you of even fullness? I see that you've marked both Full on Top and Full on Bottom. Generally, people tend to lean towards one or the other, but there are definitely people who are even.

I'm not totally sure, but I think I am even fullness! I tend to have issues with bras that are closed on top and severely quad out of them, but I also struggle to find bras with enough lower projection to avoid wrinkling at the base of the cups.

By the way, what do you mean by the bra being "short"? What makes a bra short as opposed to being tall?
-
Ohhh, I understand now! My apologies; I misunderstood.

I meant the band actually, not the bra itself. Sorry, I edited it now. Some bands in any given size will be longer but with less stretch in them and some will be shorter but stretchier. You could maybe fix this one by sewing though the elastic with a straight stitch. That can make the band less stretchy and you could choose then how much shorter to make it. If the rest of it feels pretty good to you that might be a good solution :)

helpfulHaving soft flesh pouf out around a bra is actually not a sign of a bra not fitting. Its a sign that you are not young or bony. Some bras might be a shape that does this more or less on you, but its not a fit issue. A band is too tight if its pulling the wires out too far or it hurts.
also, with different sized boobs, you are supposed to fit to your larger side. I feel like I usually dont fit either, and i'm starting to think they are 2 cup sizes different!

Ok, that makes me feel less crazy, lol! :) I wonder too if it also could have anything to do with rib flares... ? I suspect that I do have them in the front of my rib cage right under my breasts.
How can I tell if a bra is pulling the wires too far out?
And I agree with you! My smaller boob is definitely at least a cup size smaller than the other.

I'm not 100% sure on it, but I think basically if the wires are normally more 'U' shaped and after putting on, they get pulled so tight they are more like a sideways ) . . . it got flattened out. It can make cups too wide and shallow. but again - if its not fixed by an extender, thats not the problem.
The only time I have really noticed a band being too tight on me is if I cant close it. I'm quite squishy and . . . whatever. I guess maybe some elastic is less . . .biting? maybe?
I had one bra which really hurt, so I tried it with an extender. It didnt seem to help unless I used the extender as a pad under the wires! Its just a shape problem that somehow pushes the wires in a bad spot for me, idk

Yeah, this bra is not new at all! It was a used giveaway. That is a bummer... I love the look of the bra and find it to be super pretty. I wish there was a way to make it work! Do you think it would be worth it at all to take in the band, or would that just be a lot of work for nothing?
