Bra fitting help » EM gives odd square shape - wrong model?

Issue resolved
Bra sold, so no more issue that needs resolved
Original problem
This is my first EM. I bought in on bratabase using solely the provided measurements to determine the fit (the measurements were very close to those of my 32HH - Panache » Jasmine Balconnet Bra (6951) ).
Well, I have to say that my first attempt at EM was a flop. The bra feels bulky, has a strange lift to it - pushes the breasts up, but not the bottom of them, if that makes any sense; there's gaping space on the top of the cups by the straps (especially on the left side); not much side-support, so my soft breasts extend to the sides past my torso.
The bra gives my breasts (looking from the top) a square shape; with little-to-none space between the breasts, they form something like a sloped tray lol.
Overall, I think the cups are too wide, hence the odd shape.
Going down is cup size is not an option, as my right breast is already about to spill over in the middle.
This may be just the wrong EM model - any advice on what would fit better?
My breasts are very inner-full, high-set, narrow, and soft.
Thank you!

helpfulThere are several problems here, but the first is the cup is just too big -- about 1-2 sizes. That's why you're not getting any lift. Probably the band in the proper cup size would be too small and pull the cup to the side; i'd size up to a "34" Ewa which really equals a UK 32 -- but this may not be an issue.
Finally, your tissue is soft, so PL is probably not going to work out and I'd go for SM or BM instead -- models with more center coverage which are harder to fall out of.
So, worth it to try a BM or SM in 34HH or so. What does her calculator give you? It can be pretty accurate if you are very exact.

Thank you melifish and BumbleBean ! I am not sure about a larger band size - this one is on its last row, and still doesn't feel too snug. Sizing up to 75 (unless the EM bands are as variable as the cups) may not work.
So the verdict: no plunges for me. I was afraid that'd be the case, but a girl can dream :).
EM calculator gives me 75G to 75H - I wouldn't dare order anything below an HH, as a smaller cup has never really fit me (in any brand).
Until I find a nice EM in SM or BM - grateful for the narrow U shaped Comexim wires and support!

EMs vary a lot in band stretchiness. I bought 2 70 EMs, and one needs an extender and one doesnt. It was explained to me that first of all, since the cups are narrower, you are using ALL of the cups, so you can wear a cup with less volume than you do in other brands. also, plunges and half-cups dont cover the whole breast, so it will measure smaller - because you are supposed to have a lot of exposed breast at the top of the cup.

Exactly, dbmamaz. The cup depth you need in an unpadded bra will be quite different than what you might need in a padded plunge or half-cup. I find that my padded bras can be as much as 0.5-1.0" smaller in measured depth compared to my fitting unpadded bras, mainly because there's just less breast tissue covered. All cup depths are not equal. ;)

helpfulWith my shape and soft tissue, I don't get along with the PL. But I am great in the CH. (And better in the S than the PL). I would look at a cup down, as they scale cup height etc so it will hit you differently hopefully in a better way. Some of the models I hve tried have a very squared shape to seals but most aren't too squared.
IN her lined bras, I'm a big fan of the models with the remivable push up pads, as it lets you go up or down about a 1/2 cup to get the right fit. (Also because I'm lopsided ).Updated on May 26, 2015 Flag this

helpfulI know this is an old post, but it hasn't been marked resolved, and might still be seen by people with similar problems, so here's another person to second the BM recommendation.
I haven't tried Ewa Michalak's half-cups (CH) or the CHP (which is a compromise between a half-cup and a plunge) yet, but even in a cup size too small her BM fits me great and handles my center fullness really well. Meanwhile, her S works okay but I'm not a huge fan of the shape, and her PL is a nightmare, like this.

Thank you, and sorry for not marking it as resolved - I didn't know it would keep showing up even after the bra was sold.

Hi, me again! Ok, now that I see your pictures, I agree with melifish -- the cups are definitely too big for you. The PL is a plunge, meaning it's supposed to expose a lot of skin (plunge is best for low cut clothing.) This fits you almost like a full coverage/balconette, which is not what it was intended. That probably accounts for the odd shape, too wide wires, and no lift you are experiencing. If an Ewa Michalak padded bra fits you properly, you will *definitely* see an uplifted shape!
Your measurements are similar to mine, so I still recommend what I mentioned before -- try 70J or 70JJ (or 75HH or 75J). I think you're near spilling out of your right side just because the gore is low, not because the cup is too small. Unpadded styles in SM or BM would be a good recommendation (*note: most people size down for the BM), and S and CHP would be good for padded. I have lots of pictures of all EM styles except the BM, which I have yet to try. Just remember what I mentioned before about how my weight/size has fluctuated a lot, so not all pics may represent good fits or what I currently wear. :)
