Bra fitting help » Bottom of cups winkle, sides wrinkle, wire is wide.
Natori » Calais Strapless Bra (174066) » 34DDD 34:6
Issue resolved
Measurements were wrong, probably wearing the wrong size. Starting all over again. I'm just confused, really.
Original problem
Gore does not lay flat, but almost. There is wrinkling on bottom and sides. Band is hooked on the tightest hook. I am FoB. Bra mostly stays in place and is comfortable.
Is there another size I should try?
Below are my correct measurements. I edited them.

helpfulThe wrinkling on the side of cup is most likely from the band being distorted because ur right measurement is 33 and the band is 29 it's pulling the wires stretching the cup fabric in a weird way causing wrinkles on the side

Sorry, those measurements are a year old now from when I was extra new to all of this. I thought I was doing it right! This comment made me go back and reevaluate since I wear the Natori feathers plunge bras in 34ddd and they fit great, band is the same.
My tight ribcage is 29 and my comfortable is about 31/31.5. That bra stretches to about a 34. I was messaged about the stretched band measurement saying that didn't look right when I initially posted it. I didn't understand how I should be measuring it, but I think it's right now after looking into it.
In fact, I went back and remeasured myself completely and used the calculator at http://www.brasizecalculator.tk/, but despite gaining weight, I actually went from a 34ddd, to a 32gg? I'm confused. I remeasured over and over and over and over.
snug under: 31
tight under: 29
standing: 39.5
Leaning: 41
Lying: 38I have a Cleo Lucy in 34E and the band is pretty darn tight, but the cups fits perfectly, gore lies flat, wire stays in crease, no movement, no pain, no wire sitting on breast tissue. My Natori Feathers in 34DDD are the most comfortable I've found and they stay put, no wrinkling, gore lies flat. I have a picture of me wearing the white one on here.
I'm confused.
The Calais strapless looks great under clothes though, I don't have a problem with it, I just hate that it will ALWAYS slide down to create what you see in the picture, but won't move anymore unless I'm slouching.

There is no place for the over-bust measurement on this site - only perimeter of individual breast perimeter

helpfulI think the band is too big. It is 3" bigger than your tight measurement and you are also wearing it on the tightest hooks. The wires may still be too wide, but you could try sister sizing down.

I don't quite understand. The band on the bra is 25.5" unstretched. My tight is 29.5".
Natori doesn't make a 32F, would a 32DDD be too small then?
-
It's really the stretched measurement you go by at least to start. And you want the bra too be comfy on the loosest hooks not the tightest, so as it stretches from wear you can tighten them. I'm not sure about the 32ddd.
And I meant to say it is 3" bigger than your comfy measurement, not tight, sorry to add more confusion! -
ah, gotcha, thank you!

helpfulYou need a smaller band in this brand. I know you are a 34 in Cleo but Cleo bands run unholy tight in your size range. In Natori you are likely a 32. And you need a 10" cup, roughly. 9" like this is not enough,

Darn it, guess Natori isn't for me then. They don't go larger than a 32DDD :(.

I know they do go to G in some models... maybe not this one though

I did not know that. I know in the Feathers that I wear and this one they don't. I'll have to look! Thank you!

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm wondering the same about your measurements. You've got your tight ribcage at 32.5" and loose at 38.5", yet the bra's stretched band length is at 29.5". My loose ribcage is 31" and I can barely fasten bras that only stretch to 30", so I suspect your ribcage might be quite a bit smaller than what you have listed. Maybe double check your measurements for us (maybe yours and the bra's?) It's hard for others to recommend sizes when the numbers don't seem to match.
Other than that, the wrinkling at the bottom of the cup could be caused by the cup not having enough projection/depth (orange-in-a-glass syndrome.) You could size up to see if that helps or just try another model that better suits your shape. Here's a good blog post that reviews lots of strapless bras: http://www.investinyourchest.co.uk/search-for-the-best-strapless-bra
Also, if the bra is comfy and seems to work under clothing, then the wrinkling might not be a big deal after all. :) Strapless bras are kinda weird because they don't have that extra support from the straps. Support is 80% band and 20% straps, right? Strapless bras just won't always fit like a regular bra.
