Bra fitting help » bad, bad fit, but why?
Freya » Deco Vibe Moulded Plunge Bra (1704) » 32G 32:9
Issue resolved
Cups are probably not projected enough for me, and too small. I might need to try a band size smaller as well.
Original problem
Ok, so I can see that this is not a good fit, but I'm wondering why.
The cup seems to dig into my boob on the top, which gets worse when I breathe in or push my shoulders back. I think the cup size may be too small, and/or the top is not open enough. Your thoughts?
Apart from that, though, the fit seems off in other departments as well. As I am just learning about proper bra fit and size, I'd like to ask you: what else do you think is wrong here?
Despite the quad boobing, there's some gaping at the top where the straps start. Is that because the straps are too wide for me?
And although the bra squishes my boobs together in the center, creating some cleavage (my boobs are quite wide set and a bit splayed, so this is a rare occurrence), it fails to push my boobs in from the side. Rather, it seems to distribute my boobs all over my chest (in the pic with the T shirt over it this is quite obvious, my boobs are outside my silhouette). What makes that happen?
I accept that this moulded plunge is not for me, but I do really want a plunge style bra that will give me some cleavage. What do I need to look for in my next plunge attempt?
Thank you!
Ps: the size of the band is ok. I tried one larger (too large) and a smaller size will be impossible to fasten.

helpfulYou may need a deeper cup, maybe try the next cup size up (or two) and see if it fixes the quad boob problem. You might also want to get an extender and try a band size down. If you're looking for more projection you may want to try Panache, I really like the Panache Jasmine (6951)
Hopefully someone else a bit more experienced can chime in, I'm still rather new to this all as well!

helpfulI think a tighter band and bigger cup would work better for you. I know how you feel about the idea of a tighter band, but it won't feel tighter once you go up in cup size, trust me! I have been there, and I'm not suggesting that a bra should be uncomfortable or squeeze you in half.
Are you looking specifically for a moulded bra? I played around with some searches (I am minding everyone's business but my own today), and came up with a Curvy Kate Dreamcatcher Balcony Bra (CK2301) in 30H that might work for you. I believe it is not a moulded bra, so it will depend on what you are looking for. Take a look at how that bra measures even if it isn't totally perfect for you. I think the cup depth better matches your breast perimeter and the band would be snug enough to give good support.
I am in a different size range than you so others may have better suggestions based on shape, etc.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate you minding my business ;-).
You've got one thing right: the CK dreamcatcher works on me, I own one! It gives me a rounded, natural tear shape, which is great for under certain clothes or for when I do not look for a va-va-voom cleavage. With this deco bra I was looking for the latter (I would like to see my boobs touch or almost touch in the middle). It does not have to be a moulded bra (rather, I actually prefer unmoulded bras).
My question about the band: I measure 79 cm (snugly measured) around the underbust. The band of this Deco bra is 70 cm, which stretches to about 80. It feels quite tight already on its loosest hooks, so when I would consider a 30 band (which is about 60 cm unstretched), won't that be way too small and warp the wires and such? I will try it the next time around, but I'm just afraid that I won't even be able to fasten it!

For some reason it's showing that this band stretches to 83cm. It's not super huge on you, but I think if the cups were larger and fit you better, the band would feel too loose especially after a couple months.
It is good to mostly look at the stretched band measurement and not consider the unstretched measurement very much. I like my band stretched measurement to be the same as my loose ribcage measurement. When the bra stretches beyond that, it might feel comfortable at first, but after being worn 3 or 4 times, it is too loose and I have to make a lot of adjustments throughout the day.
Having said that, if you are coming down from 34-36 bands, 32 might be a good step to take. If this band feels too tight, a similar band with larger cups will feel a lot better. Maybe your first step is to find a 32 band bra with larger cups.
I don't know of bras that give that kind of cleavage. Mine can only touch if I push them with my hands, lol.
If you want to bring them away from the sides so they are within your silhouette, I know the Panache Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) does that for me and many others. I would try 30H, 30HH, and maybe a sister-size 32GG, 32H and see how the comfort and fit are with those. I love the Andorra so much I bought a second one.

helpfulIt's too shallow for you, creating the "orange in a jar" feel (though I just read that this refers to narrow wires but I think it still makes sense tbh). The wires should be aligned with your inframmammary folds--I'm not sure going up a cup size would help with this. You might like the Freya Deco Strapless since it has more projection but is basically the same style.

Thanks! I am a bit scared that a larger cup will start gaping for real on the to/outside corner of the cup though, as this is already happening with this one. It also probably won't solve the "pancake" boob thing, where my boob is pushed to the side as well as to the middle. A deeper cup is a good suggestion though, I will look into that (even though I though I am not very projected, but more on the shallow side).
The Panache Jasmine is on my list indeed, but I don't think that bra will do the trick as a push up/cleavage producing bra, from what I've seen and read so far.
