Bra fitting help » Underwire shorter than wire channel, digging in gore!
Freya » Lauren Padded Half Cup Bra (4821) » 32DD 32:5
Issue resolved
I won't be continuing with this bra, since no matter what size I get (even when the same size is comfortable with other bras), the wire is still the biggest issue. In 32D, the best fit in all the bras I've been trying to get to fit so far, the bra fits much better, but the wires are still too painful to consider keeping it.
Original problem
The wire in digs at the gore or at the armpit because it is shorter than the channel by 0.5". I'm not sure a full length of wire would help, but this is a problem I've had with the other Freya bras I've ordered, too.

helpfulThe wire ending low ought not to cause you pain unless it is sitting on breast tissue... I suspect this very loose band is allowing the whole structure of the front of the bra to move around on you and this allows the wire ends to poke you. It also looks like the cup is deeper than you require and for me this always causes the wires to hurt: 1/ because this also makes everything looser and allows things to move around and thus poke me, and 2/ because if the cups aren't really firmly filled then there is not enough boob in there to "push back" against the bra.

wendybien , which direction would you suggest I go? Since my size range is 28F/30E/32DD, I've tried all 3. 32DD is the most comfortable. I'm terrible with "bra math", so I don't really know how to translate that to a size that would fit me better according to your suggestion (a suggestion which makes sense--thanks!).

What happens in 30E?

In a bra that fits fairly similarly: http://bra.pe/TVZ/
The gore dug into my skin, making the skin on my chest fold over it.
The underwires dug into my ribcage.
The suggestion was to go a band size or sister size up. I sister sized up, and now the cup is too big. The cup was perfect in the other size, so should I just go to a 32D to keep the cup fit but also the band comfort? (I have no idea what direction to go or how to adjust to solve this issue) -
wendybien , does that information help?

I'm sorry, I'm all confused now. Are you saying you tried different sizes, but in a different bra? You can't troubleshoot a too-small cup or band in Bra X by sizing up in Bra B. There are too many differences between models. Since you are having this problem with the Lauren in 32DD, then you need to try the Lauren in 30DD or E--not a different bra in 30E. Does that make sense?

Yeah, thanks. Sorry for mixing you up. I was referencing a different bra than this one.
So are you saying I should try a 30DD/30E?

Yes, if you want to persist with this one (Lauren) that is what you'd need to do :-)
The wire moving around annoyed the heck out of me with some of my Freyas; there's some tissue at my armpits that doesn't belong in the bra, and it gets poked. If you feel that the bra fits otherwise, you can 1) move the wire where you want it to stay in the wire channel and sew the channel closed on the end(s), and/or 2) bend the wire outwards slightly at the tip, either at the gore or the sides or both.
wendybien is right, though. If the band or cups are too big, the shifting is going to cause you pain. I think by "push back" she means that you need enough boob to keep the band from pulling the wires/cup backwards (tilting) into your tissue.
