Bra fitting help » Wires, how wide is too wide?
Cleo » Lily Balconnet Bra (7351) » 30C 30:3
Issue resolved
Wide wires indicate a shallow-friendly shape on this bra, but the cups are so wide that they flatten me more than I prefer. I am exchanging this bra for another style.
Original problem
Finally, a fitting bra! I think. Maybe.
Compared to my 30B - Cleo » Nyla Balconnet Bra (7571) and my 30B - Cleo » Izzy Balconnet Bra (7721) , this one feels a lot better. I don't feel like a nipple is about to pop free from the top of the cup and I'm not quadboobing after scooping and swooping. This bra has a lot more coverage/less of the barely-a-fancy-nipple-cover look to it compared with my other bras.
The main thing I want to check on is the width of the wires/cups. The wires extend about 1/2" beyond my boobs on the sides. I took a picture of the wire marks on my skin, I don't know if that picture is showing up on this fit check, it is on my 30C - Cleo » Lily Balconnet Bra (7351) .
The wires otherwise fit. How do I judge if wires are too wide to where a bra is not fitting properly?
Other comments/suggestions are appreciated too, I'm still exploring bras and sizes a lot right now.

helpfulSo wires that are too broad are not as much of a problem as wires that are too narrow. My Cleo Neve Strapless is between 1/4" and 1/2" too broad and it's not as huge of a deal as I though it would have been. If you are happy with the bra then go with it. If you are still searching for a narrower bra in 30C, be prepared to shell out more $$$. It's hard to find narrow wired bras in your size range as most people in your size range are broad rooted.
I usually don't recommend these bras, but since you need narrow wires in a small size, you might want to try TLBC Angela in 32C. TLBC's sizing system is non-standard, so their "32C" is really a 30C. The wires are about 0.3" narrower. There are other TLBC 32C bras that are also for narrower roots, so it's worth emailing them and asking which styles are like that. EM also carries at least one style in 30C where the wires are narrower (CHP Koktajl) so you can also ask EM about which styles have narrow wires. However, EM to me is a moral hazard. Mimi Holliday has the Bisou Bisou Azure Silk Satin Shoulder Bra, Club Tropicana Balcony Bra, and the Encore L'amour Silk Chiffon Balcony Bra all in 30C with narrower wires. Mimi Holliday carries many styles in 30C that might be good for your shape...it's just a matter of hit or miss.

Practically all of the TLBC bras with narrower wires are going to be moulded. As for EM, she makes the 3DM and the HM which are unlined. You could email her and ask how narrow the wires are on those ones. Mimi Holliday will have the largest selection of unlined 28C bras with narrower wires.

helpfulI think being too wide is only a problem if the cup ends up too shallow because of it, or the wires are really bothering you.
My favorite bra's wires are wider than some of my less-favorite - because its overall more comfortable and gives me better support and projection. Of course, that means that bra measures about 14 inch depth, where the narrower ones measure about 13.5 or less.
OTOH, some bras I tried, it felt like the wires went almost to my back . . . that really bothered me.
So there is no hard-and-fast rule. Its nice to have wires snug against your breast, but overall fit and shape (and how much you love it!) matter more.

I was just thinking about the relationship between the width and depth of the cups! When wearing, I can tell that this bra is more shallow than others I have, despite also having "deeper" cups as measured. It must be because of the wide wires. Other 30C Cleo bras measure 4.3"-4.5" wide cups which doesn't sound a LOT more narrow but I think it would make a difference when we're talking such small numbers. Thanks for your comments! :)

Oh wow, that is a lot of great suggestions! The Mimi Holliday bras are super cute! I had looked into TLBC a couple years ago and all their bras were too padded for my preference, I'll have to look again and see if they have updated.
Also, I did some comparing, and there are a lot of bras in this size range with cups that are .3"-.5" narrower. I think even that amount would go a long way for me.
