Bra fitting help » Cups too big or shape issue?

Issue resolved
I will try this bra in a 36J.
Original problem
I don't think it's such a bad fit. It feels comfortable and supportive. But I'm unsure If I might need to go down 1 cup and 1 band size.
I only bought a 38J because I need the cup volume of a 34KK and this bra stops at a J-cup. I need to wear the band on the tightest setting. That is not perfect but I would deal with it considering the lack of other options in my size range.
The band does not ride up but I have some weird empty fabric on the bottom and sides of the cups. I think that the bra is too shallow there for my boobs?
Also I find it kinda generous on top, would have even a bit of spare room there.
So I wonder if I should try the 36J?
I'm not sure if my issues are just caused by a shape mismatch (cups too tall and shallow) or by the bra really being too big in the cups.

helpfulWith the smaller rib-cage/band size you have, you will have cup fit problems with some of the Elomi models -- too much cup under the armpits, etc. I suspect they used fit models with larger band sizes and didn't re-do the proportions for smaller band sizes.
Some of the Elomi models are specifically designed for the 'petite frame', which means a short torso, but also appears to include smaller band size. The only one I know for sure is @Elomi Etta

I also read in many reviews that this bra runs quite big in cups and band. I just did not expect it to run about 2 cup sizes big. Usually Elomi wires are to wide for me on their regular bras, but since this is a sports bra (and there are really almost none out there that come near my size) I thought that I will have to make it work, wire issues aside. So I think in 36J since it's overall smaller wires will be less of a problem.

helpfulLet me know if you decide to try a 36J and have removed the tags on this one. I have a 36J in excellent used condition. Worn about 5 times and hand washed only. It is small on me. I would be willing to swap. LOL. (in the US)

I haven't removed tags yet, I think I can probably still return it.
Which color is your 36J? -
It is black but of course, if you can exchange for your correct size you should do that!

No, Elomi just runs big in cup and band, just like sister brands Freya and Fantasie. It's actually very thoughtfully designed by someone who's like a 38J or something and tests them on herself.
Etta has a shorter cup and comes up shorter in the underarm. I think that's the one coming out in a 32 as well.
