Bra fitting help » back too big, games at sides
Curvy Kate » Temptress Plunge Bra (SG2811) » 38HH 38:12
This bra is too big in the back. I need to try a 36 I think, or very possibly a 34. There is gaping fabric at the sides too, which reading reviews seems common, but it fits fine elsewhere. Perhaps it's not the best shape for me, but if I were to try it a back size down, or two, which cup should I try? I don't know whether to go down a back size with the same cup, or one bigger cup size. Or if I go down 2 sizes on the back, do u go up just one size please? X

helpfulIn this bra you'd only be able to sister size to a 36J (same cup volume but a band down) as it doesn't go any higher. If you got it somewhere with free returns there's no harm in trying, but I agree that it is probably a shape mismatch.

helpfulI wonder if the Bravissimo Satine In Bloom Bra (LN217) would be an option for you? It only goes up to a 36J (so isn't a reasonable option with a 34 back for you, probably - like the rest of the plunges Bravissimo sells), and I'd expect it to be narrower than the Curvy Kate you tried. I'd be surprised if Elomi was a good idea, since my understanding is that it's even wider and you mentioned too much space at the sides. Beyond that, Ewa Michalak makes a lot of plunge bras in a dazzling variety of sizes - I haven't seen any in person myself, but the wires are said to be narrower. Perhaps browsing bratabase info on the width of these plunges relative to each other (in a specific size, like 36J) might help a bit, if someone's entered the info? http://www.bratabase.com/search/?q=34jj+plunge shows several options, if you do end up needing a 34 band and a JJ cup; changing the search shows options like 34L plunges, too, so you're definitely not sized out of plunges entirely - though Ewa Michalak is the only option I know of if you're in that range, and there was a recent article by someone who finds them too narrow.
The cup looks too small for you on that bra - you're quadding and have a fold near the top of your breast. You may need something bigger than a 36J, or you may not, with a different cut and design; I can't tell.
I agree with what you said about shape; the Curvy Kate Temptress Plunge Bra (SG2811) and you look like a bit of a mismatch. If you really love something about the bra, that's not the end of the world, but you might be more comfortable in (and more flattered by) another shape.
I'd say step 1 is to figure out what band size is comfortable, and step 2 is to figure out how wide your wires should be (while also figuring out your cup size). Having figured those three things out, most brands will obviously be questionable at best, and you can focus on finding something awesome in the ones that are left.

helpfulhate to say it but I don't think you'll have much luck with plunges, any plunges, except maybe elomi.

Yes I think you're right. It's a shame as it's lovely, but it seems it's just too wide in the sides for me. X
