Issue resolved
Wrong size, maybe wrong bra!
Original problem
This bra is clearly too wide, and maybe a bit too big? Some wrinkling at the top in the lace part and at the seam. Some of that is tall roots, some is just...emptiness? I am a little conical, so maybe shape issue?
The bottom of the cup feels good and even a bit tight at the end of the day (I did the backwards try on, and the band is snug but not tight at all).
Possibly I am not so fot and/or shallow anymore. And maybe narrow? Maybe a 28e instead? Though it might not have the projection I want.
I like this bra, but it's not quite right! I haven't tried on a ton of bras, but so far, this is the closest I've come!

helpfulThe Marcie is designed for a fit that's quite a bit more revealing/low cut than this, so I'd say technically the cup is too big for you here. It's not the deepest or narrowest design though, so in your theoretically correct cup volume you might find it too shallow to fit properly.

Yes it seems like E might be just right. You don't look all that shallow to me. Have you had some boob growth? People's roots don't usually change much, and "shallow" is literally relative (i.e. it describes a ratio of width/height to volume) so if you have more breast tissue than before with roughly the same root width, you'll be more projected than you used to be, shape-wise.

Yeah, I've been gaining weight and migration definitely occurred. :) Yay for diagnostic bras. Thanks!

helpfulYou could try a 28E, it might fit you better. People are reporting a cup depth on the 28E that more closely matches your breast size. If the wires are still too wide on the 28E, it will probably feel like it minimizes/flattens you, because the amount of cup actually being used by the breast will be a little small on you.
I have some similar problems with Cleo bras. I have a Minnie and sometimes I feel like I need to go up a cup size with it, but its wires are already a little wide for me. I tried a Marcie (didn't even enter it on here) and a Lily but the cups were wide, shallow, and flattening on me.
I was told that wide wires aren't the worst as far as fit goes but it just bugs me a whole bunch. I'm picky about certain things and I feel like I want to make the most of the minimal boobage I have. Plus, wires on the sides of my ribcage just feels weird, and I have a pretty clear line where the side of my boob is with little or no tissue on my sides beyond that.
I was going to suggest the Panache Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) but I see that you already have one. I always suggest it for ladies with small ribcages. A 28E or 28F would probably work better than the one you have but it does give most of us a pointy shape, so if you don't like that then that option is probably not the best.
Another brand that has narrower wires is Claudette. I have a 28DD Claudette Dessous Mesh Underwire Bra (CD2000) from this season (Spring/Summer 2015) and the band runs tight, so if you can find a corresponding cup depth that works for you, that bra might be a winner. Previous seasons have totally different sizing and run much larger so if you try one, make sure to get it in this year's colors.
Good luck!

Thanks! I had tried the Panache, but that was many pounds ago. It might work better now. I'm not against the pointy, after realizing that the whole 'round shape' thing doesn't always sit right on me anyway. And wide wires annoy me as well. the 28dd Marcie was on the border-a little narrow at PMS time, a little wide otherwise. So, not too bad, except that I grew and the cups then flattened and strangled me.
I'll look into the Claudette, as well. I was looking at the Polish bras, but they look too narrow (but pretty).

helpfulIt's too big in the cups. If Marcie fits, the nipples or apex of the boobs should be about in the area where the seams meet.
Also, consider sizing up in the band. Seriously. The Marcie runs really tight and you might find a 30 band supports you just as much as you need, without pulling the wires unnecessarily wide.
I always thought Marcie was too wide/shallow on me, but then I sized up in the band (from 30 to 32) and suddenly it fit like a charm. (My underbust is 27" tightly, 29" snug for reference and I'm usually a 30 in UK brands, but wearing a 32 band in the Marcie since it's so tight.)
Beware of the raspberry colorway though, it's running about one band size looser than the other colors.Updated on July 15, 2015 Flag this

In my 28dd, which squashes me to hell, my apex still doesn't go up to where it should. Weird, weird boobs. But after wearing this around for a bit, I can see that it only fits decently during shark week. I'll try the 30 band when I am able though! Thanks!

The 28dd Marcie was WAY lower than this, so that makes sense. Never thought I'd find bras to be TOO shallow. I probably should be a 28e-ish.
