Bra fitting help » quad boob galore and underarm spillage.
Cleo » Mimi Padded Balconnet Bra (8091) » 32FF 32:8
Issue resolved
Fit slightly better in 32G, but the straps are short and spaced far apart. The wire was not in my IMF. The thick top edge of the cup is highly visible under clothing. Returned both sizes.
Original problem
The cup for my larger boob is too small. There's significant underarm spillage. The band feels snug, but not uncomfortable. I reordered in a 32G. I can't tell if the style won't work for me or if the projection and wires are okay. I'm new at this and a little bewildered. So far no molded bra has worked for me. I thought this might work instead.

helpfulYou could try it in a larger size to see if that helps, but I think part of the reason it's not fitting right is just a slight shape mismatch. Maybe you need something with taller wings so that it helps to contain the sides a bit more. You can also try bras with side support to see if that changes it.
When you take the bra off, do the wires follow along your IMF (inframmamary fold) or do they cut into breast tissue on the sides? If so, then you need something wider.

greenfuse oh sorry, yes you did say that. I'll be interested to see what the larger size looks like. But yeah, taller wings helps. I'm low set too, and I feel much more contained with bras that have taller wings.
You can use bratabase to browse bras with taller wings. Here's how (you may have to really look for some of these buttons, but they're there! I promise).
Click:
-Browse
-By size
-measurements
-Go to drop down menu and choose "side wing height".Not sure if this link will work but here is what you get:
https://www.bratabase.com/browse/by-size/32:9/measurements/?filter_by=wing_height&order_by=wing_height&style=&hide_discontinued=FalseNow you can browse the database based on wing height.

Wilderness1 Is the underwire supposed to be right in the IMF? I feel so dopey about all of this. I really appreciate your help.

greenfuse the underwire should closely follow your IMF. I sometimes have bras that mostly follow my IMF under the U part, but then don't quite follow it next to the gore, and I don't mind that. It's a preference and comfort thing. But the underwire should follow your breast root as closely as possible for a best fit. Once you figure out what width of cup works best for you, you can use that same measurements drop down menu to look for cups with similar widths (just choose cup width in the drop down menu).

helpfulYou were right to order a cup size up--this is definitely just too small in the cup, and arguably too snug in the band (it is definitely too small right now brand new, but I say 'arguably' because this is the type of fit situation where depending on personal preference and body composition, someone might choose a 34, OR a 32 and wear an extender for a while).
Having breast tissue on the side of your body is a natural anatomical feature, not a flaw nor something that is apt to change, so definitely look for wires that accommodate it!

wendybien thank you. The 32G fits much better and is comfortable. I get a little gape at the top of the cups if I slouch too much. My biggest problem with this is that the top edge of the bra is so thick it is highly visible under t-shirts.

Glad it is more comfy! All molded cups tend to gape when we slouch--they don't conform to the body as well as just fabric, so don't worry about it.
Yes, the issue of cup edges sticking up/out or even sometimes curling outwards (!!) is a recurrent annoyance with bras in the Cleo, freya, etc. quality/price range. Sometimes the issue becomes less noticeable after a few washes. However as someone who has owned a fuller bust for nearly 3 decades now I must say I've found it lot easier to find heavier/better quality t-shirts on sale for very attractive prices than better quality bras!

helpfulI have this problem with this type of bra as well. i have found that if i have a bra with higher wings my breast tissue sits in the cups better.

Wilderness1 Thank you for the feedback. I did order a G cup to see if it fits and am returning this one. About the IMF--I can't quite figure out where it is on my side because I have a ton of side tissue that I think is migrated from wearing badly fitting bras for the last 20 years. I haven't found a bra that I could scoop all or even most of it into without getting quad boob and making the gore float. I tried someone's advice of pushing my boob to the side, but it was still unclear where IMF goes, but the side tissue goes back to almost my back.
I'll look for taller wings. That sounds like a very good idea.
