Bra fitting help » How tight is to tight for the band?
Elomi » Amelia Spacer Moulded Bra (8740) » 36HH 36:12
Okay. So I ordered several Elomi prior to getting lots of feedback on those Bravissimos that did not work. However this is by far the best fit I've ever had. Minimal cup collapse, straps have plenty of space to extend, no gaps in the cups top or bottom. My ONLY issue *I think* is that the band is pretty tight. It hooks up relatively easy but man oh man it's snug. It gives me a back butt lol lol, maybe that's normal just not something I've ever experienced. See photo. Is this TOO tight or will it really stretch a bit. (I've never really had a new bra that I've kept past trying on so I don't know how much stretching actually happens.

helpfulIt does look like the fasteners are strained in the close up picture. If you have an extender or can get one easily, I would try that since the rest of the fit seems to be working for you. Sometimes that helps, sometimes the rest of the bra fit changes. I suspect if you went up a band size you would probably need to hook it on the tighter hooks from the start. I am not very familiar with Elomi, so I am not sure if the bands tend to stretch much.
Do you know if your measurements fluctuate during the month? If you are at a "high" point, the bra might not be tight in a week or two. If you are at a "low" point, the bra will likely be too tight in a week or two!
I have never actually had a fastener break, but I have had the "eye" tab get a little warped/stretched. Not sure how much of that was age, quality, or the band being a little too snug (probably a combination). I only have a few bras (different brands) that stretched out noticeably, but those were after a LOT of wear. My personal litmus test is if the fastened bra looks (to me) like the eyes might end up ripping out. If I find myself wondering, I figure it is too tight. Support is good, worrying that your bra is going to rip itself off is not.

helpfulAgreed with the other posters that it is up to personal comfort and if it looks like there's excessive strain on the bra hooks. I checked the measurements for this bra in general and it looks like the bands grade up about 2", and that the stretched measurement in general is true to the band size. However, your measured band length on this bra looks a little shorter than average (by 1"), which is probably why it isn't stretching to the full 36" that it's supposed to stretch to.
An extender is probably a good idea here. Sometimes I just need an additional row of hooks to make a very snug band more comfortable and ease the strain. I bought ones from Amazon recently, Wingslove brand, and have been pretty pleased with them. If you measure the spacing between the eyes on your bra and it is 3/4", then the 3 hook extender should work for you. They are pretty affordable too. Hope this bra works out for you with the extender!

helpfulI think it's up to the individual. I like a snug band but not tight to the point it hurts or inhibits breathing. I go with as loose as possible without the band riding up in the back or loosing the support in the front I'm looking for.

helpfulAmelia and Charley spacer bras have bands that run tight and don’t tend to stretch out too soon so I think you will be ok trying a 38H in this bra or wearing an extender.

It's not really hurting or anything. I'm worried about the little hooks breaking lol. But the rest of the bra seems so correct for me. I think. I'm such a boob noob lol.
