Bra fitting help » Wrinkles and empty space on top
Scantilly » Surrender Balcony Bra (ST2401) » 30DD 30:5
Ok, so, I need help and a little bit of support (since my bra isn't providing any).
My boobs: tall roots, bottom heavy, self supporting, soft-ish tissue, close set, pointy.
I've altered the band on this one, but it still rides up a little, because it's really stretchy. Wires are enclosing my breast tissue comfortably. Lace cuts in in the center and a little on top, I had to remove thin straps around the cups because they made quadding even worse.
Apex of the cup is placed higher than my nipple. I just compared my Pour Moi St.Tropez in 30F and this Scantilly Surrender in 30DD and it turned out that apex is placed at the same level on both of them.
I also can't quite fill empty space on top plus lace is kind of sliding down to apex. I've tried loosening the straps but it didn't help.
Any recommendations on how to make this bra work? On any bras that might work for me? And more importantly, on bra size I need?
Thank you in advance!

helpfulI have read the reviews of this bra. I think it's more likely to fit a FoT shape rather than even or FoB. If you have extremely FoB boobs, maybe Freya unpadded is a good choice. Cleo Lucy can also work on most FoBs.
Here is a shape guide from Abtf: https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/shape_guide

helpfulRecommendations to make this bra work - as requested!
1. Bra band is already altered though you did not say how and if the stretched measurement is more in-line with your measurements.
Shorten the band or/and add less stretchy fabric to a portion of the band. I use fabric from other bras but others have reported a specific fabric that can be bought. This makes the band less stretchy and more supportive.2. Cup Filling: If I had this bra and wanted to make it work, I would stick with the loosened straps that you mention and do a combination of cookies/full bra inserts and darting and/or retracting the lace. I have found this to be a highly personal process that needs problem solving and different ways of looking at bra constructions. I am please with my results especial when starting with wires that curve nicely around breast tissue already - which you stated is the case for this bra.
If more sewing is not your thing then it is time to walk away from this bra and balcony bras as a whole given your shape.
Good luck with the hunt!

Thanks for your help!
I took the band in because it was too long for any other method of altering, now I'm measuring 60cm/23.5in unstretched and 80cm/31.5in stretched. So I'll definitely try to reiforce it more.
With cups yeah, I was thinking of reattaching the lace but I guess I'd also need to shorten the cups to minimize cutting in. What do you think of that?
So do you think I should avoid balconies? I've never thought of that but I definitely had more luck with half cups and full cups... -
Yes, a shorter band would serve you better given your measurements.
i have shortened the cups on an unlined Freya bra that worked very well. It is in my rota right now. this would bring the apex of your bra down further. I did it from the bottom by simply folding it in and stitching it in place by hand to the wire casing. It does not look neat and tidy from the back of the bra, but the fit is good and you can't tell from the front. I have not had to remove and attach lace to date, but simply fold or dart.
Keep in mind that stitches can always be undone!
Balcony construction leans towards the wide and shallow construction - which you are not! Best to avoid that design.

Oh, I meant FoB more like "my tissue gravitates towards the bottom without a bra". When properly supported, my breasts act like evenly full with tall roots so I don't think Freya would be a good fit for me. Thanks for you suggestion anyway!
