Bra fitting help » 2nd try, still not right :(
Comexim » Victoria Half Cup » 80H 36:8
Requested reduced cup height but dont know if it was done. Even with sizing down from my last attempt this still has a lot of empty space at the top. I dont know if it's too big, or just too tall?? I'm also thinking that this style may just not be right for me. Any I've tried that looked good really hurt....
ETA: I took 2 triangle sections out making it a 3HC instead of 2HC, and it fits much better. It's now wearable though a little minimizing from the side profile. But it's so pretty I just want to wear it!

helpfulWhen I have a bra that fits like this, can't return it, have paid some money for it, and I like the look and feel of it, I have two things I try. First I try an angled cookie. If I am not happy with the fit and the gapping, then I try a small alteration at the gore to pull the top of the cup in to the midline. This serves two purposes - It tightens up the gapping across the top of the breast and it brings the straps closer together. I can often get a better fit with a bra that I otherwise like. The lace is lovely so might be worth a try...

What I do is that I put the bra on, pinch the fabric of the top of the cup at the midline right next to the gore to draw the upper fabric taut across the top of the breast. If I can get it to look good with different angles and amounts I pin it, then hand sew the dart in. Unlined bras are best but the thinner padded ones can work fine too.

Gotcha. That might work with these being thin foam. I'm fairly crafty so also debating pulling apart the vertical seam and custom fitting it. This isn't a size that seems to resell much anyway lol

You'll have to post an "after" picture of what you finish up with. Good luck. I found it scary to cut or deconstruct my first few bras.

helpfulDid you email Comexim about the reduced cup size not being done on this bra or did you just email about the Yellow Bird cup size discrepancy?

helpfulThis cup height has been reduced. An 80H Comexim typically has a 6.6" cup height (examples: https://www.bratabase.com/browse/comexim/sonia-half-cup-406/80H/, https://www.bratabase.com/browse/comexim/burgundy-half-cup-357/80H/, https://www.bratabase.com/browse/comexim/basic-half-cup/80H/)
I'm afraid this bra is definitely too big. If the band is comfortable to you, then I'd recommend you try at least a cup if not two cup sizes down. That will also help with the strap placement.
That being said, are you center full? A couple of the pics make me concerned that you'll end up with other fit issues with this style.
How would you describe your boobs? Tall roots? Short?
Shallow? Medium projection, self-supporting, pendulous?
Soft tissue or firm tissue? Narrow or wide roots?Your other fit request appears to be a better shape for you (even though one of the cups is too big).
If you want to keep this bra (it is beautiful), I'd try jazzypants suggestions - cookies or alterations to bring in the cup a bit.

ritzyrunnergurl I am center full and close set too, so that is a HUGE challenge in fitting. Roots are on the shorter side too. Narrow roots, and somewhat projected. My tissue is quite soft after BFing 3 babies, which combined with center fullness and my short roots makes finding a good fit a challenge. A lot of things that work for one thing dont for the other! After trying about 6 sizes in this bra from too small to too big, to fits everywhere except just shallow enough to make the underwires dig in painfully under my boobs, I'm giving up on this style I think. I've got some pads coming to see if that works because it is just beautiful. If not I'm going to mess around with it as I'm planning to start learning how to sew my own bras!

confused if you're trying Polish bras, have you tried an EM S? They are moderately projected, center full-friendly, relatively short cups, and narrow. They also come with cookies for unevenness/sizing flexibility.
-
I dont think I've tried the S. I've tried the PL, SF and SM (no luck). My only really well fitting bra right now is the BM. I'm in the edge between 80DD and 80E. Sometimes I get the seams digging in on the DD, but then the E is pretty full coverage and has some loose fabric on the top. And they don't work with all outfits. I can get away with my Freya Deco Cameo in 32F, but only the version of the deco and it's got some issues.
-
I get that. Short boobs and moderate projection is hard to fit - things are either too tall, too shallow, weird wrinkles, etc. I have a deco delight that I can make work (I sized down from my usual 30F/FF to a 30E and ignored the bubbling and the fact that my boobs support each other in the middle.)
I'd recommend trying an S if you can. Do you have access to a bra shop where you can try some other brands like Freya?

Not really, the best I have is a Dillards. I've tried a ton of Freyas and Panaches and Fantasies off of Prime wardrobe. Part of my problem is I hate spending $60+ on something that's "good enough". I'm an intermediate sewer so I decided my time might be better spent learning how to sew my own bras so I can custom fit the cups to deal with my fit issues!
-
For sure, I hope you never have to settle for "good enough." Good luck with the sewing adventures!

jazzypants it's a lovely bra so I was thinking about adding some padding or altering. How do you alter at the gore like that?? Not sure I'm getting the idea of exactly how to do it!
