Bra fitting help » Band too big? Enough projection?

Issue resolved
Bra is too big and wide; probably not the right size in cup or band.
Original problem
UPDATE: I’m 99% sure the band is too loose in a 36 because when I put it on the middle hooks it feels less mobile. Also, it’s hard to tell if it rides up because of the way the band is structured...it kinda has an upward slope in the middle?
I’m not sure if it fits me.
I’m new to this size, I was previously a 34HH and the Morgan never fit me correctly. This 36HH seems close, but I’m not sure if it’s projected enough. I’m also not sure if the band is too loose, it seems to ride up but I think it’s because I have the straps tight (I’m high set so I need the straps to lift these bad boys).
I’m not as concerned about the quadding because I can easily remedy that if I remove the elastic on the cups. This bra is an Amazon Prime Wardrobe try-on, and I’m not sure if I should keep it.
I’ve tried Polish bras and although they’re projected, I think it may have been a step in the wrong direction for wire width for me. These wires seem okay.

helpfulWhen you are looking for 'not enough projection' it usually means that the bra is riding down on your breasts because they need more projection then they aer finding at the bottom of the cup - or your boobs feel too squished because there isnt enough projection at the apex.
Its also very hard to give advice about the band when I cant see the stretched band measurement or your measurements, which are not included here.
Curious why you went from a 36HH to a 38HH instead of from a 36HH to a 36J?

I also have a 36H en-route from Amazon to try and see if my ABTF recommended size fits properly, but because there’s a 4.5” difference in my standing and leaning measurements, I have a feeling it won’t have enough projection in that size.
I’m also going to try a 34J to see if the band fits better.

band riding up is usually a sign of too loose band and/or tightening the straps too much - we get in the habit of over-tightening straps for support, but for a well-fitting bra, the straps should be pretty much just tight enough so they dont fall down.
Here we measure around the breast, not around the breast and back. my around-the-breast measurement is most accurate when i'm laying on my back - because thats the shape I want, not the shape when its hanging.
And i just typed wrong - I meant i woudl have gone from 34HH to 34J, instead of 36HH
If your loose measurement is 36, a band stretching to 35.8 is probably too loose

Yeah I can’t tell if the band feels/looks like it’s riding up because of the leotard back on this bra.
Honestly I think this one is just too big and wide for my shape.
Thanks for your help!

helpfulThis seems like it might be the best fit you're going to get with this bra, though I'm curious to see how the 36H fits you. How does the wire do with your IMF? It looks projected enough, but it's possible the wire is just slightly big, which is making the bra sit a little lower down than it would with the right size wire.
It looks like the wire is fitting your IMF and projection correctly, but it's slightly wide on the sides. If that's the only real issue you're having, it might be perfect for you, as slightly wide is okay, just not slightly narrow. I have the Morgan in 36HH (let me know if you decide you want to trade for it!) and it's definitely a loose 36 band... but that could be good if you decide to swap out the wire for the next size down. Swapping the wire should be pretty easy and will make the band tighter and the cup more projected.
I have an 8 inch difference between my standing and leaning measurements, and my best fit is roughly my band size subtracted from my lying bust measurement. My theory is that lying bust seems to determine how much the projected tissue can squish down.

The wire width in my IMF seems to be pretty darn close, like there wasn’t much slippage, but I think you’re right about the wire possibly being too big and causing it to slide down a little bit. I’m waiting on a 34J and a 36H, so I definitely plan on adding them to the Bratabase when they’re here. I can tag you in them so you can be updated!

Sorry, I think you may have misread my post. I went from a 34HH to a 36H/Hh (according to ABTF’s calculator). Since I haven’t remeasured for Bratabase, I left those off because the measurements are 3 months old.
I do have issues with the band riding down on the bras that I’ve been wearing (80M Nessas and 75K Kris Lines).
My ABTF measurements are 36” loose, 33.5” snug, 32.5” tight / 44.5” standing, 49” leaning, 47” laying. ABTF calculator suggested 36H, but because I’m more projected I opted to try 36HH and 36J first.
The stretched band of this bra measures 35.8”.
Hope that helps clarify!
