Bra fitting help » Cups gaping at top, almost fits
Berlei Uk » Beauty Curve Full Cup Bra (B5091) » 30DD 30:5
Issue resolved
got some new size suggestions - will try them out when I'm ready to buy again!
Original problem
First time trying 30DD, I'm happy with the fit but it's not quite right. Gore doesn't sit flush against my sternum, only when I breathe in. The larger side almost fills the cup, but both have gaping at the top. Could just be my shape, as well as one side of my chest being quite a bit larger than the other.
Should I try the next band size down, 28E?

helpfulYes! I would definitely try the next size down, 28, if they have it. As your loose band measurement is only 27"
I would try 28DD as you have a bit of wrinkling in the cup.
This may be a shape mismatch though.
It's a bit difficult for me to see the shape of the cup because of the black colour and the bratabase logo is going right over your cup area.

I would try Ewa Michalak BM maybe. To me, this bra just doesn't fit your FOB shape.
Have you considered Comexim? They make a 28 band (60 band)?I also just don't like the way the gore is. It looks...painful. But it's also up to OP and her comfort level....

Horstersen ! I would appreciate it if next time you could just make your own fit advice, and not comment on mine, like you did below.
It's just that - I took the time to make the comment.
It feels kind of rude and aggressive to me to immediately comment under mine, lol..
I did have reasons to suggest that OP purchase the 28DD, while I still understand that it may not be an ideal fit for her - nobody knows what OP's budget is like, and maybe these are the bras that she has the easiest access to (does that makes sense) ???
FEEL free to disagree with me!! But if you're going to disagree with me, can you just make your own comment, lol.
I will cut and paste it below your comment for you, lol.

helpfulHow do the wires feel? In the picture from the side, it looks like they could be quite a bit too wide. You could also be full on bottom (#4 suggests that) and then you will always have wrinkling in the top with this style of bra. Same on me The gore looks also quite wide. When you take off the bra, do the marks sit on breast tissue?

The underwires feel alright, support-wise it's much better than the way too large bras I was wearing before. I think I am full on the bottom as well, maybe a different style would suit me better. The only marks I see are just underneath on my ribcage.

Forgot to mention that the gore not lying flat could also be caused by too small cups or a shape mismatch in the cups. Again, that points towards trying a different model.

Given your measurements, definitely try a 28 band! I'm not sure I would go for a smaller cup size though, to me it looks like FOB breasts and the projection at the bottom is fine. Or if you can, try both a smaller cup size (like 28DD) and the sister size 28E and see how it feels. You might fill out the cups "better" in a 28DD in the sense that the bra pushes more breast tissue upwards and helps you fill the top of the cup. If this is comfortable and you like the look, go for it! Otherwise, you might have more luck with styles with shorter cups like half cups.
