Bra fitting help » need the next bra to try, perfect centre gore, not good wire underneath and side
Bravissimo » Satine Bra (AU15) » 36G 36:9
These are the only bras where the centre gore hasn't hurt me. Any higher and I have to pad them out with cotton wool pads and end up in agony. I also have them a back size up and a cup size down, depending on the time of month i flit between the two.
I like these bras a lot but the underwire under my bust digs in and leaves me with angry red marks and at the sides they do not fully encompass my breast tissue. I really need a recommendation about what bra to try next, especially since having my son my tissue is a lot softer and definitely needs to be scooped up and the pain the wires cause is a lot worse.

helpfulCan you double check your measurements? According to what you've entered here, the stretched band is two inches shorter than you're chest circumference. If your back measurement is nearer to 40 inches, I would imagine a 36 band would be quite uncomfortable and ill-fitting.
Buy the way, I just noticed you are new here today. Welcome! I'm sure you will find a lot of great advice and a welcoming community here!

I get the measurements issue. I struggled with that as well at first. Not knowing if I was doing it right, not really sure if what the tape was telling me was right, or if I really was that big. And my brain was stuck on a bunch of sizing myths we are taught incorrectly (like there isn't much above a DD cup). Once I let go of all of that and started focusing on what my measurements indicated, I started getting better and better fits. Numbers and letters don't matter to me anymore as long as my breasts and well supported and comfortable. That has meant a lot of trial and error since I don't have a boutique near me to try on different brands and sizes. I've bought gently used bras here to inexpensively try different brands and cuts. There are also online options that offer free shipping and free returns so you can try on a variety of bras with little to no commitment. You can also use different calculators to get a starting point for what to try. I'm not in your size range, but I'm sure there are others who have good ideas for a brand and model. I just wanted to share that you are not alone in trying to figure this out! Don't be discouraged of your first few aren't perfect. You're on the right path to a better fit.

helpfulPost-baby bra shopping definitely has its challenges. I have to agree that the band appears too short. Sometimes it helps to focus on the measurement of the band rather than the labelled size - like tighter fitting 40 bands may suit you better. Also, when bands are stretched out too far they are no longer doing a good job of providing flexible support. It also looks like you need more projection at the wire for a good fit - a clearer side picture would help with that and an idea of cup width though you do say that breast tissue is not fully enclosed. Perhaps a different shape of bra - a higher gore with larger band and more cup depth - then watch what kind of cup width snugs into both sides of the breast. I always find it amazing how a well-fitted bra can change the shape and give great support when all those finicky details come into line. Hopefully others have some ideas on brands and styles. Be sure to check out cheaper options for trying out bras.

I’ve tried those types of bras and whilst they definitely fit post baby boobs better the gore is agony. Anything above a low plunge I just can’t cope. I have plunge bras with higher gores than this one and I have to pad them between the gore and my sternum with cotton wool pads or a bandage pad because it leaves me with very angry bruises and cuts. I’ve been to a few different places for fitting (bravissimo, independent retailers) and they’ve all said I need a side sling bra that encompasses better with all the things you’ve said but no one has managed to find me one with a low gore that doesn’t cause me pain. I don’t know why it causes me so much pain but it’s awful. I’ll try and take some more side pictures today to show it better. Thank you for replying!

You might try Elomi Tia in a 40GG. The center gore is a bit higher, but their wires are softer and not at all stabby. Elomi in general might be a good brand for you - they are made for us plus sized ladies and do things like pad their underwires and make nice, thick straps.

helpfulI will some times in the future post a review of my Elila 1301. It's a different style with more coverage but does the wonders of underwires without the wires. A beautiful very assertive super comfy bra indeed.
Further up the line, you'll find the 1303. Same player shoot again with definitively engineered towards projection performance.
And thanks for using 'encompass', I just learned a new word, spot on, precisely what I feel these two models do to me.
Have a wonderful day, thanks for sharing

Thank you! Yeah I don’t understand my measurements at all I took them three times, I’ve got 38 band bras which are what I wear most of the month and are comfier. I’ve tried 40bands and they’re just way too loose riding up unless I start on the tightest setting. This bra is an oldy that’s been worn so much it’s stretched like mad so it is a bit tight but at certain points in my cycle it’s comfier although not the best fit anymore as it’s one I got before I got pregnant and now I’ve had my son my boobs are a different shape and a lot softer
